  • The black and white bungalow was a 19th century colonial invention unique to Singapore. The British blended European-style mansions with local housing designs to create a home grown house for tropical living.
    The century-old housing type continues to inspire contemporary Singapore architecture. An example is the Wee House in Tanglin, an inventive take by HCF and Associates that reimagines the traditionally timber house in modern materials, including champagne gold stainless steel.
