A week on from the half marathon in Copenhagen I find myself in the pacer role this weekend. My boyfriend Daniel has challenged himself to break his Parkrun PB. With a flat course, me (a 2:29 marathoner) as his pacer, and some good months of training behind him I think he is on to a winner!

I’ve watched and rewatched your Copenhagen marathon video over and over again and cry every time hearing Daniel cheer for you…so no surprise that I teared up hearing you cheer him on and watching him just full send at the end!!! Every runner knows just how painful that is…good for you Daniel!!!
Awww this makes me a bit emotional just reading it! Love this so much 🥹
Never seen a parkrun on a track before!
Great effort. My wife is faster than me and she paced me yesterday at parkrun to my fastest 5k this year (first sub 30 minutes in over a year and a half) gotta love these fast women
Your wife is a legend, and well done on the seasons best!
“Did you slow down?”
“No”
😂😂😂😂
So happy for you! Congratulations! Imagine being able to have Phily Bowden pace you at park run, awesome! 😊
I absolutly love this , where partners of runners are inspired to run and we get to see the improvements (Ben and Mary, or Matt and Kellogs), it is smashing to see yet another suportive superstar , bringing their loved one into the nutty past time. (I am getting soft in my old age but it's the truth).
Daniel is so sweet. He is just there to have fun and be with you. Love him
my PB is almost exactly the same: 24:54, and I'm running a 5k in about 6 hours. Am ALSO shooting for a sub 24 this afternoon! TALK ABOUT GREAT TIMING. ITS FATE! ITS ALREADY DONE IN MY HEAD.
Well, you haven't run it yet, but please do tell me: did you get it?
Good luck!!!!
24:09, 2nd overall for my age group (m 50-54). Went out a little hot ran 7:11 for the first mile. I didn't have Phily for a pacer 😁
@@terranceandcoppergreat job!
@@terranceandcopper still an amazing PB, congrats!
Loved this video, well done Daniel, and great pacing Phily. It brought back happy memories of Stretford parkrun for me. My parkrun pb was 22:24 for 8 years until I visited Stretford last August and ran 21:43
I knew I recognised the course-- terrible with names, but I did Stretford last Summer! Might be moving down to Manchester in July, would be a lovely course to do again.
Great running Daniel, smashed it and with the way u finished there is definitely more to come
He gassed me at the end!
I love that you’re with Daniel not because he’s another elite athlete and that’s what you’re ’meant to do’ but that you’re just a great fit for each other. Way to go Daniel, brilliant mate. I had a New Year’s resolution to do 30 Parkrun’s and get to 25mins. I’m close with 26:12 so I’m getting there. Love your enthusiasm Phily and how down to earth you are, keep it going.
Amazing PB Daniel! You smashed it!
Congratulations Daniel, I’m currently hoping to get back into the 23 club after a few years off running, you guys are an inspiration!
C’mon you’ve got this!! 💪🏼
Hi again both, I thought you might like to know I did my first parkrun this morning (in Great Denham, Bedfordshire) and ran 22:58! I’m over the moon and so grateful for your advice and inspiration!
Proud of you! 😄🙏🏽
Lovely strong finish Daniel!
LMAO that it was conversational pace for Philly! 😀
Well done Daniel good effort!
Love that from both of you. At my local parkrun also
Let's gooooo! What an awesome race! Having a great pacer sure helps. :)
Loved this. Congrats on the PB 🎉
This channel really has given me the motivation to get back out running. THANK YOU!!
My old great run local at debacle Park was 100% a race 😅
A great video that reminds me of my own PB attempt in the summer to go from 22:52 to sub 22:30. I far prefer long distance, and 5k terrifies me whilst I'm mostly relaxed about marathons or ultras. In July, a group from my club planned to go for a PB at Rickmansworth parkrun, but we arrived to be told that it was cancelled. We made a dash to Cassiobury in Watford. Meanwhile, my pacer was unwell, so couldn't make it. I ran a PB by one second, which I was very frustrated about, and after training hard over the summer, I felt like giving up at running the short distance. However, I was away in Copenhagen the following week, and decided to run parkrun there with no pressure. It was only after two miles that I realised I was on PB target pace, and I finished in 22:29. It gave me a huge confidence boost, when I thought it wasn't possible just a week earlier.
Really good. I was impressed by him staying on his feet at the end!
Goooo Daniel! I love it when faster people pace us slower runners. This video made me smile the whole time. You two are so cute together.
I love these types of challenge videos. Such a massive PB. Big congrats Daniel! And I can relate to how you're feeling at 9:37. Although, it does make me smile seeing other mere mortals suffer during sport TOO... does that make me twisted? Meanwhile... Phily hasn't exceeded Zone 2 and is barely warmed up . Ha.
This was such a fun video!
Nice work guys!
My 5K times improved "for free" during my Marathon block. I broke 25 minutes for the first time on a 2X5Km tempo on both reps.
And PBed a 21:47 on a race deep in the marathon block having run 20K long the day before.
I believe with some 5K specifics I could break 20 mins in a year or so.
For now the Marathon next Sunday! A different kind of beast...
What marathon are you doing?
Good luck for your marathon! Come back and let us know how it goes in the comments of next weeks video??!
Brilliant result Daniel. Well done Philly 🎉
Yesssss Daniel! Phily knows best (obvs) but when I hadn’t a clue how to train and just ran Parkrun as fast as I could every week when I first did it I went from 24:46 to 22:04 in 5 weeks. Wouldn’t be surprised if Daniel went sub 22 very quickly. But you’ll have him on a far more sensible approach than what I did depending what the goals are!
Great video, it's always fun to see you both involved like this.
But... well, it is October now and I think we are all wondering how fast a super spooky ghost can do a Park run now.
I now the diary may be a bit tight but... you know!
Haha I’ll see if I can get in touch with him 😉
Well done Daniel smashed it🎉🙌👏
Well Done! This was such a nice feel-good story to watch. Thank you.
Most likeable couple on YT, keep up the great work 👏🏻
I saw this PB parkrun on your channel and Daniels channel on my feed at the same time LOL. Took a minute to decide which version to watch 1st. So i watched the Phily version first... So cool lemme go see the Daniel Moves version now :)
Haha you’ll have to let us know which you prefer 😉 (not that I’m competitive AT ALL)….
@@PhilyBowden After having watched both versions, honestly I want to see both perspectives. Because you give your opinions to the audience whilst he went to Warmup, and then on Daniels video he shares how he was feeling. And he had that glow one gets after achieving the PB. Love it 2 video versions for most events u guys do Lets go!!!!
Brilliant vid! Well done Daniel 👏🏽
Fantastic video. Love that you pacing him while narrating and chatting with people! Love it! 😂
Well done on your PB Daniel 👍👏👏
Congrats on your PB, Daniel! And nice work, PB on your pacing duties...PB gets Daniel a PB!
Hey Daniel really time and great improvement well done. I really enjoyed this video as it relates to about my pace currently making improvements can take such a long time it seems and there is so much to get right.
Loved Philly comment “ we just been overtaken by our first dog slightly concerning “ pmsl 🤣
Congrats on the PB! That's Branco, my dog 🦮 that's concerning you at 6:45 😂
Hahaha amazing, he’s quick!!
I have so much love for this video, so fun 😊 more of this ❤
Wow!!!!!!! Big Congratulations to Daniel!!@!!🎉🎉🎉🎉
Congrats...and what an epic format😂 Pls do show us smore of these if Daniel can handle the stress! Loving it😂
Oh we will 😈🫡
What a dream team. Divine! Go Daniel ❤
Yes Danny boi! Lovin' that! Been waiting for this one for ages and you didn't dissapoint. Makes all the hard work worthwhile doesn't it
Congrats Daniel!!
Smashing fun time, Master Po!
Dan would of had a bigger PB if he did his nails to match his shoes
That was so good!!!! Watching the everyday man buckle down with his best girl cheering him on was better than watching Nyguse chase ingerbritzen to a new american mile record...well maybe not that good.... but still...Phily's comment in the vid, "this makes great content is exactly right on! Nice one y'all.
Good work daniel and phily, well done👍
Woo hoo Daniel! Tremendous 🥳
Nice! It's amazing how much he improved. Congrats to trainee and trainer!
Congratulations 🎊 🎉🎉 Daniel well done.
Awesome! Favorite vid thus far 👍
Love this video! Pro runner pacing the support. a unique one 😂
Park run is 100% a race 😂
Amen I have certain people each week I race against and I don’t even know them
I feel like you don't achieve significant times without a race with someone
“Park race”
It is extremely difficult to do an easy 5 k mate 😂
It’s not a race, but they still send you an email to tell you you didn’t come first 😂
Really really enjoyed this video! COME ON DANIEL💪🏻
Great effort, Daniel 👏🏻👏🏻 you’ll be sub 22 in no time 👍🏻
Go Daniel!! 💪
Aw! Well done Daniel. Hope you both enjoyed Stretford Parkrun.
Awesome job! I had the same PB a few years ago and I just crushed my new half marathon PB by over 12 minutes! 🎉
This does bode well for Daniel’s upcoming half marathon challenge 👀
@@PhilyBowden good luck Daniel and good luck to you on your next marathon! Love the channel.
Go Daniel!!!
I wish I had a pace maker that looks awesome go Daniel!
Phily is a born entertainer 😊
Brilliant. Smashed it :)
Well done Daniel!!
Daniel is my hero
I’m feeling that ‘how’re you managing to talk when I’m exhausted’ vibe 😂😂
Great job Daniel 🎉
That’s where I train and my club
Great song during the run 😊
Congratulations to him, nice work. Park run is for me a race against ones self. There's always a bigger fish. Take what you want from a Saturday morning PR. Im trying get my wife to sub 30 minutes. Its not easy. I started running at 41 a year ago and got my PB time down from 23:55 to 19:34. So if an old broken mo fo like me can do it, anyone can. Great channel.
Haha one person on the edge of collapse and the other just chatting away without noticing any running stress :-) Great PB!
I miss your video intro music theme philly! 🎶 tong teng ting... tong teng ting tiaiang tieng... 🎶 so much nostalgia 😢 ❤
Loved it!
Congrats! Yah I want a pacer for a race sometime. But I know it’s still you doing the work just less thinking required.
I love ur vids, but this is 10000000% the best thing ever😂😂 been laughing start to finish
Getting to parkrun at 8:28, you've changed 😂😂
We’re all grown up 🥲
Well done Daniel
Stretford Park Run 😃 if I knew, I would have gone to see you guys.
Good work there 😁
A great run🎉
Ok but all the people who got THE Phily as a pacer at parkrun…lucky bastards! 🤩
He’s like Red Rum in the fucking National
We had pacemakers at our parkrun yesterday. Despite thinking I was always trying my best, following the 26min pacemaker took me to a new PB (25:59). Without him I would definitely have been 30 seconds slower.
My Garmin watch always says that I can go way faster (it predicts 23:44). Which is hopeful but always unrealistic.
Following the pacemaker, I never had to look at my watch to run faster. It was just better following someone with a good reliable pace. They kept faster in sections where I would normally be slowing down and I tried harder to counter that.
Don't trust Garmin watch. My watch says xyz for 5k and then I run that during an interval session without it even being part of the goal. I find that it under or over estimates based on the kind of running you are doing. My Vo2 goes down and my predicted times go down when I run zone 2(5or,6 zone system) but goes up if I include more zone 3 or above runs. It predicted a 2hr half marathon when I was running 9:00 pace zone 2 for 7 miles regularly.
My garmin predicted over a minute slower than I ran and only improved by about a second after the parkrun.
Great content...would love to see a blog following him through a proper training block. I bet he'd run sub 22min following a 12wk plan and eating clean.
He’s gonna share his training for the half marathon over on his channel
So Daniel, we were going for 12:53.... Um WTH happened?!?! I blame the pace runner... (🥰)😁
GO DAN!
Nice to see the Longford park, Stretford Park run. Are you locals?
Dan if you forget your watch.... or it runs out - I guess you have a iPhone or similar on you (open Strava and hit the circle at the bottom (RECORD) and it will cover your distance, pace and finishing time for you)!!!
"He's out kicked me" must be the last comment I expected to hear from Philly. 😁
Funny you should say 23:30 as that is my PB, ran on my own.
Need to get down to a park run
This was cute and awesome ❤ well done on your awesome smash of your PB
Great!!!🎉🎉🎉❤
Any race/run is a personal race
Didn't see even the tiniest drop of sweat on Phily's head
Like how you video, with both of you involved, life & running, Daniel is lucky to have a pro runner girlfriend coach, onwards & upwards to a sub 20min next park run Daniel, good luck, 🏃🏽♂️👊🏼👏🌲🥳🍀✅
So NOW you have to pace me to a PB 😊
Great video, great pb and great pacing! I just got into running this summer and into doing the parkrun these last few weeks. At the beginning of Sept I ran 31:44 and my most recent was 25:57! Gotta keep chasing that pb!
I am hoping to get the chance to do Stretford toward end of year for a PB attempt.
Trying to think of it would be encouraging or terrifying to run , a long way behind, Phily
Apparently Alexandra ParkRun is faster according to some locals?
well done really nice video. I would love to have a pacer like you, what a luxury. Was he wearing brooks!!? he needs faster shoes
With 500 parkruns done, I totally use it as a time trial/race 😂😂
