Jerry Finn -- rare footage of the guy who mixed/produced the sound of the '90s California punk rock. Butch Vig, the guy who produced the record that preceded that explosion. Chillin' on a couch
Omg I watched this video on their website like 12 years ago and thought it was just going to live in my memory forever. So awesome to find it again. Nostalgic.
Man, I remember finding AFI because I was an Offspring fan and heard The Offspring do a song called "Total Immortal". I saw in the booklet that they credited a band called "AFI" for the song. I remember thinking "wow, this is raw and so underground sounding". And I began buying up every album AFI put out. I even bought a 'Punk O' Rama' compilation just to hear AFI and also introduce myself to newer music. Just amazing. Thank you for this upload!
Holy crap was this a blast from the past. Jaja, to go back to then, if only to relive it. This album got so many plays on mycd player as the length of the album was exactly the distance from my apartment to acting class. Literally, parking lot to parking lot and I used it to keep time. I also bought this album twice for myself and a copy for everyone I knew.
The record would have been great without jerry and butch producing it. But with them producing it, it made it damn perfect. Two of some of the best producers of our generation made this record go platinum, rip jerry.
Why are people so intimidated by Davy ??? He seems like one of the nicest dudes in the music industry . If I ever get a chance to meet him . I am going to say , hey & shoot the breeze with him if time allows.
I didn't recognize alot of the songs they were tracking, are they just various versions of songs they didn't include on Sing the Sorrow? or were they older songs i'm just not catching?
Did anyone ever notice that during the Sing The Sorrow Era, Davey looked alot like Maynard James Keenan during his A Perfect Circle days? BOTH AMAZING ARTISTS :P
OK IT IS JUST ME OR MAYBE I`M DEAF OR CRAZY I DUNNO BUT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT RABBITS ARE ROADKILL AT MINUTE 2:42.....right??..THIS IS AWESOME...I love them every minute of my life...without them I`d be probably dead.
Sing the Sorrow was a pinnacle of the genre when it was released. One thing I will say to you is although Jade is an incredible player, impeccable artist, and wonderful guy; I would maybe look into guitarists like Neal Schon (Journey), Earl Slick (Bowie), and of course legends like Jimmy Page etc before saying he is the best to ever live. Certainly one of (if not) the best of our generation, there is no test to determine musical greatness. With that, he will live among the greats in time. (c:
i want to hear the whole album how it would’ve sounded with 336 production and without the producer song change suggestions (except for the new chorus on paper airplanes that was the only difference i liked)
Old comment but i have to agree i love their older stuff much more. I have seen them many times live and their first few albums live were the best i have seen.
One of the greatest albums of all time
Omg. What an amazing throwback. I wore this album completely out. This album changed my life in a lot of ways. Thanks, guys.

They're basically royalty when it comes to alt rock producers
