"Fantasia"'s my favorite animated film of all time. It's nice to see that the VHS came out in December '91 because now the Blu-ray version is out and already on my Christmas list.
@floatingcompassmedia These aired in December. It's about as close to "a Christmas one" as I can get. I'll be posting more ads that aired in December over the next week. I have no idea what "all rock type one" means.
WoW...."For every generation there is a GAP" I SO forgot that GAP ever had a tagline or slogan for their brand. Thank you for posting I took Marketing this semester and I enjoyed having this channel to use as a reference for how much advertising has changed.
@floatingcompassmedia I'm more interested in preserving the blocks as they were originally aired. I don't even think I have enough hard rock, punk or METAL themed commercials to fill a volume.
4:08--This was when Amy Grant was taking her music in a more secular/mainstream pop direction ("Heart In Motion" was her most successful crossover album), and Aaron Neville finally shed the label of "one-hit wonder" (which he had held since recording "Tell It Like It Is" in the late 1960's). 4:42--That bit with Mickey Mouse playing the role of the Sorcerer's Apprentice is a classic! 7:35--Musicland/Sam Goody is sadly a thing of the past, at least in my area. I used to shop there all the time.
Cool post. I miss those subway commercials from back then. I'll take those over the new ones anyday. I find these commercials ironic b/c the airdate was on my 6th birthday and I just celebrated my 25th b-day on tues.
Given that the Busch family owned the Cardinals, aka the Cubs' most hated rivals, you'd think their beer wouldn't be all that popular in Chicago. Speaking of MC Hammer, I once watched an episode of Amen (which I never watched) because he was guest-starring. Yes, I'm embarrassed. Fantasia is ours forever...until we replace the VCR with a DVD player in 8 years. It's been years since I've seen it, but I remember The Last Boy Scout being one of the more ridiculous action movies out there.
Wow. That "Why Ask Why?" beer ad sure was subtle. I don't think I could I could make a cynical point about it that wasn't already painfully clear, so let's move to Rainier and wonder why (yes, WHY) American beer ads put such an emphasis on "ice cold taste"? Is there really that big a market that thinks cold is a flavour, that can be ingeniously brewed into a beer? Even piss freezes.
Fantasia's now on bluray, and its mine forever...wait, 6" subway sandwiches were only 1.69? I'm getting jibbed with the 3.00 6" these days. Oh well, at least $5 for a foot long sound reasonable.
I lived in Illinois when these commercials aired. My dad was stationed at Great Lakes , thats about like 40 minutes from Chicago. And I remember most of these commercials. Man I HATE Jenny Jones. SO FAKE
the moptop in the Levi's ad looks like a young Keanu Reeves this was when Amy Grant was blackballed f/ the Christian music scene for wanting to further her career. she was further vilified when she got divorced *gasp* and married Vince Gill the Rainier Draft logo conveniently covered that girl's massive jugs I remember "Jenny Jones" she used to be on during daytime w/ ricki lake and leeza gibbons, and the ever-present Maury

@fattoler Breakfast burritos are basically omelettes wrapped in a tortilla. They're not bad for you.

My family used to have the Fantasia VHS back in the late 90s. Never watched it though.

It's funny... back in the day I wanted to skip all these commercials... now I'm just watching THEM...

404UsernameNotFoundX yep! Happy go lively.
@fattoler You can make breakfast burritos at your house, too, and they're incredible. Very big here in the Southwest.
$1.69 for a 6 inch sub ? , times have really changed
:(
@bajabusta My Grandpa used to work at that plant, you can hardly find Rainer beer anymore.
The guy holding the Scattergories game was obviously who the creators of The Big Bang Theory show based Sheldon Cooper off of.

MY FLY'S BUTTONED -- classic
I thought personally it was high-art. Like if David Lynch directed an SNL sketch. With a Timex plug. :D But I digress~

@puppetmaster983 Scary, isn't it? But this is the best we can do until someone invents a time machine. :3
@1982biscut I know I know I know guess the standard of living has gone up.
