I’d like to add something to the Starfury’s list of techniques: If you use lock-on, it doesn’t seem to have a distance limit. Combine this with 1 point of piercing from the star, and you can just lock into the Wall of Flesh and run away with a Minecart to hit it from across Hell, cheesing the boss entirely.
A secret Tech that not many people would use since its post moonlord is that when you hold the portal gun, you fall SUPER fast. So if youre doing a modded run like calamity and you wanna get to the bottom of your hellevator quickly, whip out the portal gun and youll be at the bottom of the world in like 5 seconds
I just use the item that lets you do a super hero landing. I forget what it's called but it's pre-hardmode in Master mode at least and it's awesome Edit: It's the Ram Rune, absolute tits
The strings can also be dyed and stack...so you can just fill all of your accessory slots with string if you want. 24 Def from string alone is entirely possible.
Problem is that you need the dye trader. And then buy the dye station. At that point it might not be worth anymore since you're just going to have better acessories
@kaiotrem358 Yeah...but on the flipside of that, it's entirely possible to find a marigold and some blueberries or something within seconds of starting a new world.
@wildlmao What? Which part? You can get warding on six different dyed strings. Also, it's random how often you find dye ingredients in your world. *edit Have you never played Master Mode, maybe? You start with 6 accessory slots in Master (and go up to 7 post WoF).
tip for finding sky islands. if you find a small puddle on the ground, its likely from the water running off a sky island when the "liquids settled" in the world. next time you see a puddle, use rope to pillar up and youll likely find a sky island
But make sure is isn't near a big pool of water, sometimes it generates that, also same for jingle pools of water, it doesn't work there, but it is super helpful
It's amazing how many people don't know this. I discovered it myself only recently, and it's pretty much 100%. If you see a tiny like 2 block puddle of water, and there's no other larger bodies of water around, you got a sky island above you. I'll say maybe 97% instead of 100, but it's way up there.
2:34 Honestly the best part is the fact the devs no only leaving this is but actually making it better. Hoyking use to only work in 1 directing. The devs fixed that. All the other things that came of it was just a bonus.
one of my favourites is placing the Alchemy Table near the Shimmer to make unlimited potions. Make a bunch of a potion, then throw the stack into the Shimmer to get the ingredients back. Then make more from the Alchemy Table, giving you a 1/3 chance to not consume an ingredient. Rinse and repeat as needed.
im pretty sure this was already addressed, however depending on your luck you can still profit from it, normally the fish are the hardest part to obtain to if I can be positive in that I dont care about going negative in bottles or plants
Also ancient info but if you hook the middle of a closed door, then open it, you fly out super fast, fast enough to insta trigger hermes boots. When exploring the surface, you can also just jump and hook the ground as far ahead of you as possible then cancel the hook just before you would get to the end, this way you get a ton of speed fast and this also triggers hermes boots. One more, when building in long straight lines (like wall/floor of a farm) you can just hold left click and spam the hook at the right angle and you wont have to move your character or your mouse at all, making it super easy.
Hammered platforms are awesome for one way projectiles. My favorite use for them is probably for fishing, because you can completely enclose yourself but still send the rod through the wall to the lake. The wall doesn’t even need to be above the surface of the liquid, so you can just mine next to or under a lava lake and use it both to fish and to defend.
8:10 can we just talk about how crazy that house is, bast statue, star statue, loom (because i always forget to craft one), 2 chandeleirs and a damn queen statue also there is tech with the king and queen statues but its pretty nieche, bassically if you are setting up pylons and move the wrong npc's into a house and they wont leave because its day you can force them somewhere else with them
You can also place a platform on the inside of your house on the door to prevent blood moon enemies from being able to open doors, because they can only PUSH them open not pull, you also automatically open the door normally, even though there's a platform there. This prevents you from having to place the dirt in front of your NPC houses every event
One thing to add to the grappling hook: You don't need to mine blocks to access 1-wide tunnels. Grappling at the exposed side on the left or right of a block will guarantee you clip into the tunnel, granted you do it a good number of steps away horizontally from the tunnel. I can do it consistently from below the tunnel going up, though I can't be certain about going down without mining blocks.
Typically early game I take all my ropes, made from various sources, and build these giant rope ladders around the map,and hopefully I found an umbrella. Then I just climbed to the top of the ladders and glide across. Gravitation potion super early and clear out the Skylands
Although the grappling hook is great for the one block tunnels, don’t do them in beach/desserts as all gravity blocks such as sand will suffocate your character. I’ve died far too often forgetting this and other random accidents.
Zenith, despite being a melee weapon, can attack any point on the screen, meaning if you have a sufficiently wide monitor, your Zenith could theoretically attack an enemy in one ocean biome all the way from the other.
As someone with a 32:9 monitor, this is false. It seems to end at the edges of what would be a 16:9 display. Unmodded Terraria also just doesn't support ultrawide properly, zoom is all weird.
One thing I will say about the Starfury and using it for light in the early game, be VERY careful if you try to use it in the Underground Jungle, I’ve been in situations before where I tried to use it for that and accidentally broke a larva that was off screen and got immediately murked by Queen Bee
I find this one to be super useful: you can combo grappling hook with a mount that releases a lot of light when used (slimy saddle, fuzzy carrot) to reveal a decent amount of the map. Use grappling hook, and as the grappling hook is pulling you, spam R. It can even work on three block-wide gaps if used precisely enough. That combined with minimap with overlay at 0% opacity and maximum zoom-in can help you see uncover the map very early in the game
star fury is amazing for exploring. I got it yesterday and did that. it shows the whole map around you too. the light actually counts to fill in the map.
Maybe I'm nuts but the desert caves are one of the first biomes I explore. The loot is worthwhile the pre hard mode monsters are manageable with an early summon since you can summon one behind a wall, dispel it when it comes back to you, and resuming it behind a wall. So with all that, golf balls are amazing for me, thank you for that info I've never bothered with them before!
I have better weapons but I keep a starfurry on me to light up caves when spelunking. It’s *extremely* useful~ Just click the bottom of your screen in small increments and you’ll find any near by openings.
something i like to do with grappling hooks is to launch it into the ground and pressing the spacebar right before I reach the hook. A great way to build up speed to enable the hermes boots.
Fun fact: you can phase through one block gaps with the sheild of cathulu too. Just dash into a wall with one block missing under and you will fall. You can also do the same up with upwards momentum
I feel the meteor staff is better at what the starfury does since the embers light up way more area like yeah it may be a hard mode staff but it's definitely better at that than starfury
The point is the Starfury can be obtained first day, and would then be useful to find other early-game items. Meteor Staff is pointless because you wouldn't need anything listed by that point. Starfury you would reasonably have when these tips are useful.
It’s just that you dont really need that trick anymore by hardmode because by then you’ll basically have unlimited spelunker potions and a metal detector to round out what you’re missing from the combo accessories and your pickaxes will be so fast that finding normal caves won’t be a hassle anymore
Interesting tech with graple: if you graple a door, youll go through it jnnstantly at running speed Also grapling immediately refreshes your flight so you can graple and ungraple as soon as it hits a platform/wall
To clarify about enemies and platform doors, enemies can actually walk straight through with ease. I actually found this out during the goblin army when I tried to protect my NPCs
Extra utility for cobwebs; if you don’t have featherfall or a lucky horseshoe, a single cobweb can negate all fall damage and return to your inventory for additional use. Especially useful if you drop down into a dark area and can’t time a double jump.
Love using the StarFury for exploration purposes, but will say - about a week ago I found out the hard way that doing that in the jungle can cause you to accidentally anger a Queen Bee. XD lol
Cobweb has better uses than just a accessory placeholder. The strings have a decent sell value and its the infinite source of ropes for exploration. But it becomes obsolete when you get grapling hook and double and triple jump or maybe even wall climb.
You can also use cobweb to safe you from deadly falls if you just hold your underneath your character and time the placement right before you hit the ground.
The star fury is great for this and for searching on the surface for any sword shrines by highlighting the ground as you run across it... Same with jester arrows on the surface.
With grapling hook if you hook a door it still launches you while auto opening the door you can use this to gain momentum in early pre hardmode fights if you couldn't find an hermes boot yet
Honestly, there's quite a few more techs you can do with hooks. Crazy speed launching, tons of advanced tech with multi-hook hooks, (notably including some rather unique arenas that become insanely useful when playing modded), and iirc, there's even a way to consistently clip through stuff with certain hooks in a slightly different way from traditional hoik clipping, though it really only comes in handy for cheesing/skipping certain mod structures. Another thing that should be noted for platforms is... platforms counting as doors. Some people surprisingly don't know this, but for npc houses, you don't actually need proper doors, just platforms.
if you ever need to build a long wall quickly you can use the snake charmer flute and save the effort of having to place blocks on top of each other if you need an air pocket under the ocean you can use the dirt rod to place dirt under your feet then dig down
nah the golf ball tech is so much better then the string. like yes, it IS some easy stats, but I just feel like its more trouble then its worth. the golf balls on the other hand may be unlocked later but its probably really nice to be able to find islands so much easier. This is just my personal opinion, I could be wrong. edit: also you can place platforms on corners of blocks and on non-solid blocks like trees so they're really nice.
Th le grappling kg hook should be way more, it resets wing flight time when you grab something, even if you let go immediately after (amazing for wall of flesh), as well as can make you go real fast without the boots
ye, wooden platforms rock! you can put them just around everywhere, grass, hives, vines, trees, you can dodge enemies with this.. Literally super versatile! You can Dye your stings to add them to your accessory items so rainbow strings can get you... IDK... 6x4 = 24 defense?
I honestly crave to know so much for tech; the new things I learned form this video was using the sunfury in the desert (Things I learned through comments) Using the hoik projectile thing for fishing rods That you can use a dash to go through one block holes?? (Gonna have to test that) I knew of using the mount sumo ing for particles, but I guess I’ll be testing it/that with different mounts I do know that if youbplace a torch and then rightclick it (mining it may also eork) that the particles fall down (which is solid for the same purpose and even better depending on the torch) I’d make a lighthearted “summon the torchgod for lightingnfor underground 😂”
You can use mounts in combination with grappling hook (for better results) to light up nearby caves. When you mount/dismount, a spray of particles shows on your character. If you're in motion when mounting, those particles will follow said motion. My fav way of revealing whats 20-30 blocks to the side/up/down is to grapple the wall and mount just before you reach the destination. I like to call it 'slime sneeze' because I first discovered it thanks to Slime Mount's increased falling speed, but it works with any mount.
I absolutely love that mechanic and maaaann does that name make me like it even more. Slime Sneeze? Hats off and bravo to you for coming up with that haha
@AqibA.C. thank you! Sadly slime sneeze has become harder to perform as you can't mount while reeling in, meaning you need to cancel grappling hook first, which complicates it.
Grapling hooks are actually OP if you know how to abuse them or use them. For example no matter how fast you are the hook always goes out faster now I use this to hook away I do that in a rapid succession and launch myself into flying at maximum speed like a rocket 🚀 and I do that because its much more fun for me to be super fast and fly around land run hook and launch off again vs bosses. I enjoy the game much better that way also when you need to get away in dungeons or underground hooks spamming helps a ton
Only works on console but still goated
that requires a controller or mobile device to do so it's kind of technically a pay to win feature in terraria
@the_neto06 You can emulate a controller and map keys to buttons.
@the_neto06 Youre either on console and have access to it. Or youre on PC and can just use the mod for it.
Either way, you have it.
@the_neto06you have to buy terraria in order to win, so terraria is pay to win
A secret Tech that not many people would use since its post moonlord is that when you hold the portal gun, you fall SUPER fast. So if youre doing a modded run like calamity and you wanna get to the bottom of your hellevator quickly, whip out the portal gun and youll be at the bottom of the world in like 5 seconds
Gravastar sabaton is a intended accessory that does the same tbh
slime mount and pogo stick have 200% fall speed, not as fast as portal gun but much easier to get
Ngl, on one of my playthroughs i connected the surface with the underworld using teleporters
Demon Conch is craftable in Calamity, Shellphone isn't hard to get in Calamity either
I just use the item that lets you do a super hero landing. I forget what it's called but it's pre-hardmode in Master mode at least and it's awesome
Edit: It's the Ram Rune, absolute tits

very true

Also flying fish tell that your near one
@TheYo_yoLordflying fish aren't reliable because they also show up when it rains
@animeloveer97 Well if it's not raining, and you see Flying Fish, then there's probably a floating island nearby.
When the golfer actually has a use and it isn't even playing gold
3:20 “What doesn’t jump is stupid little enemies”
Green Slime: *floats in* Allow me to introduce myself
4:40 you can easily use this to troll your friends and convince them that they've found a sword shrine
He's reaction would be amazing 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
2:34 Honestly the best part is the fact the devs no only leaving this is but actually making it better. Hoyking use to only work in 1 directing. The devs fixed that. All the other things that came of it was just a bonus.
Wait really? That's wild, fuck yeah relogic!
1:38 you can also use the housing check to find open spaces where there might be chests
one of my favourites is placing the Alchemy Table near the Shimmer to make unlimited potions. Make a bunch of a potion, then throw the stack into the Shimmer to get the ingredients back. Then make more from the Alchemy Table, giving you a 1/3 chance to not consume an ingredient. Rinse and repeat as needed.
Now you will only get 2/3 of all ingredients, because devs notice this exploit
im pretty sure this was already addressed, however depending on your luck you can still profit from it, normally the fish are the hardest part to obtain to if I can be positive in that I dont care about going negative in bottles or plants
Honestly i didn't even think of that but yeah that's actually great. Infinite potion dupe

Surely the kids still know this one, right?😢 I'm not old enough for this to be considered ancient tech!
The last thing would probably be a little more difficult if you use multi-shot hooks like the webslinger
The starfury is awesome for exploration but be careful in the jungle or everywhere in get fixed boi worlds because you will awaken queen bees...
1:45 family of five: flashbacks to Throarbin losing town NPCs to rolling cacti.
Now explain why the slimy saddle was in the thumbnail
Clickbait

I did not think about that… sounds useful
3:41 I had to do that on my first playthrough cause Plantera didn’t drop the temple key.

2:26 "I'm shooting for 10K subs"
I had no idea I was watching a channel with less than a million subs. Honored to be part of the first 10K now!
I've been saying the Starfury forever now!
I love how with just platforms, blocks and a hammer you literally can make a door that makes standard walking mobs just fall through the floor
Dont forget that you can use shield of cthulhu dash to "block" attacks or enemies that can be damaged, like queen bee charges
You can also place a platform on the inside of your house on the door to prevent blood moon enemies from being able to open doors, because they can only PUSH them open not pull, you also automatically open the door normally, even though there's a platform there. This prevents you from having to place the dirt in front of your NPC houses every event

nope, it in fact has a limit
@Spellcastiing what is said limit?
As someone with a 32:9 monitor, this is false. It seems to end at the edges of what would be a 16:9 display.
Unmodded Terraria also just doesn't support ultrawide properly, zoom is all weird.
@N0FoxGivenSee my comment above.
it was nerfed. it *did* work like that, before relogic changed it
One thing I will say about the Starfury and using it for light in the early game, be VERY careful if you try to use it in the Underground Jungle, I’ve been in situations before where I tried to use it for that and accidentally broke a larva that was off screen and got immediately murked by Queen Bee
7:00 you can use a cobweb to stop your falling damage too, even save you from death. Just got place it at your feet quick enough
yup
I find this one to be super useful: you can combo grappling hook with a mount that releases a lot of light when used (slimy saddle, fuzzy carrot) to reveal a decent amount of the map. I am the entire family of five contained in one vessel
I always used starfury like this.
And the yoyo string technique of get useful modifiers on early game stuns me
ohhh true i never thought of that with the star fury lol, appreciate it
We need more wild lmao’s thank you so much 😭🙏🙏❤️
I knew I’d get this comment but not this soon lmao 😭
Brother im coming wait!!!!
@wildlmaoI love ur content sm 😭❤️❤️
Wild j lmao and wild B(cubed) lmao 🤯

You could even say... so we back in the mines
I feel the meteor staff is better at what the starfury does since the embers light up way more area like yeah it may be a hard mode staff but it's definitely better at that than starfury

starfury my goat (erm that's a sword actually)
Dog?
Theres a cat behind you
I figured the StarFury out on my own after I realized that the stars went through walls. Very nice usecase.
Interesting tech with graple: if you graple a door, youll go through it jnnstantly at running speed
Also grapling immediately refreshes your flight so you can graple and ungraple as soon as it hits a platform/wall
You forgot the mechanic of the grappling hook to do like an extra jump thingy that speedrunners use
To clarify about enemies and platform doors, enemies can actually walk straight through with ease. I actually found this out during the goblin army when I tried to protect my NPCs
Remember when you could almost instantly kill any boss with the slime mount by putting yourself between a ceiling and a boss?
I miss that feature...
Extra utility for cobwebs; if you don’t have featherfall or a lucky horseshoe, a single cobweb can negate all fall damage and return to your inventory for additional use. Especially useful if you drop down into a dark area and can’t time a double jump.
If you're running on the ground instead of flying, you can use the grappling hook to speed up and reach sprinting spees faster.
I knew literally all of these, to no surprise. Still watched till the end anyway for the great content, keep it up!
Love using the StarFury for exploration purposes, but will say - about a week ago I found out the hard way that doing that in the jungle can cause you to accidentally anger a Queen Bee. XD lol
Smart use with the starfury!
I didn't use it long at all, but that is useful, lighting up caves and all.
The first trick works with the star wrath as well. It's insanely effective for late game exploration
I like to use the golfball to "go" deeper into the dungeon before Skeletron.

Another thing that should be noted for platforms is... platforms counting as doors. Some people surprisingly don't know this, but for npc houses, you don't actually need proper doors, just platforms.
Star fury spelunking is the best exploit. Never thought to use it in desert for cactus. Brilliant.
Whips can also hit rolling cactuses through walls for some reason.
if you ever need to build a long wall quickly you can use the snake charmer flute and save the effort of having to place blocks on top of each other
if you need an air pocket under the ocean you can use the dirt rod to place dirt under your feet then dig down
The starfury is so good that it was added to Dead Cells
I feel like the queen bee larvae exist solely to punish this specific use of star fury
5:47 "in the early game" has a solar helmet
what if I told you there was a secret tech with the resonance scepter, where getting it makes you a bad person?
hope my support is keeping you well fed ❤
nah the golf ball tech is so much better then the string. like yes, it IS some easy stats, but I just feel like its more trouble then its worth. the golf balls on the other hand may be unlocked later but its probably really nice to be able to find islands so much easier. This is just my personal opinion, I could be wrong.
edit: also you can place platforms on corners of blocks and on non-solid blocks like trees so they're really nice.
The true temple key is the platforms we made along the way
1:07 is called a Dead Man's Chest
golf gear is only good if you get lucky to find the golfer on first trip you enter the cave
Wall of Flesh when I made Kamikaze Bunnies
went to subscribe and i was already subscribed
0:54
I LOVE DOING THAT SO MUCH
The starfury is really useful for navigating underground *unless in underground jungle*
My tip for the 1st tip is to use terramap and you can find every chest
I started a new save yesterday and got a pair of wings withing minutes. It was in the 2nd chest i found. I was so stoked.
Starfury for exploration is amazing ✨
7:13 I've literally never touched the golf equipment, I've been playing since the xbox 360
starfury hands down the best light pet
Th le grappling kg hook should be way more, it resets wing flight time when you grab something, even if you let go immediately after (amazing for wall of flesh), as well as can make you go real fast without the boots
ye, wooden platforms rock! you can put them just around everywhere, grass, hives, vines, trees, you can dodge enemies with this.. Literally super versatile! You can Dye your stings to add them to your accessory items so rainbow strings can get you... IDK... 6x4 = 24 defense?
all the real homies goat up the moon lord drop version of the star fury
I honestly crave to know so much for tech; the new things I learned form this video was using the sunfury in the desert
(Things I learned through comments)
Using the hoik projectile thing for fishing rods
That you can use a dash to go through one block holes?? (Gonna have to test that)
I knew of using the mount sumo ing for particles, but I guess I’ll be testing it/that with different mounts
I do know that if youbplace a torch and then rightclick it (mining it may also eork) that the particles fall down (which is solid for the same purpose and even better depending on the torch)
I’d make a lighthearted “summon the torchgod for lightingnfor underground 😂”
I discovered the hook trick on my own.
the platform thing you are the goat
Great hints! Starfury is in zenith so it’s a keeper! Just gotta be careful of Queen bee esp in legendary mode :/
Did you know some sentry summons can also be used to light up caves?
SHIT you're right I CAN use the golf ball to discover sky islands
Except for part, when star destroy queen bee larva
