Hey, Thanks for the video(s). BUT, what is the easiest way to change bass drum to snare etc...? I found that a bit tricky somehow. I noticed that if you create midi notes for example from snare, the default setting in Groove Agent is bass drum, and it is not too easy to change the instrument? What is the easiest way to change it? Can you make a video about that as well?
Hey Chris, great video and tutorial as always. I really appreciate your help. Does the same strategy applies to the rest of the drums kit, like snares, hihats, toms and crash? Or something of these quieter will not be targeted by treshold? I would grestly appreciate your guidance. Thanks
Just gotta say thanks Chris, exactly what I set out to do today and you nailed it - ironically, I've played with Emily's drum tracks so this was a welcome bonus.
I’d like to share a trick I like to do additionally with the generated midi drums: You can use the stock plugin „MIDI Gate“ on the audio tracks to gate the drums (e.g. the Tom tracks) perfectly and fully controlled. With a copied midi track this can even be edited to correct wrong triggers or let some ghost notes through. It can also be moved in time to open the gate slightly earlier. This is especially helpful when there is much mic bleed.
Thanks a million for this one Chris! I just tried this out and ended up getting a much better sound from the tracks I had because I had the sample right there to listen to! Made it way easier to hear where my kick was lacking and where the unwanted freq's were. I intended to just blend in the sample, but now I can hardly hear the difference!!! This will help in more ways than intended I'm sure... Cheers to you Chris!
I just discovered this channel and I'm certainly glad I did! This is maybe one of the few videos where someone really explains the recording art in plain english! Love it!! Question: Would it be possible to record drums with REMO low volume mesh straight from a mic and then change the sound like you did in the video with a Cubase drums sample?
As usual- highly inspirational & useful set of tools we often use to overlook.. You just make us realize why Cubase is easily the BEST DAW on the planet... Thanks a bunch Dear Chris & God bless...
Chris, this is a very cool set of techniques! Just tested it using a different instrument to detect the hitpoints I want to remix with a drum and bass (acoustic piano). With just a bit of fiddling with threshold and intensity I've got a tidy little midi track drop my kick on to. Yeah, man...thanks!
This is the best video anywhere, about doing this very thing. Very concise! Thank you Chris! One question though, what if you want to replace a bass drum hit in your project using a better hit in the same project?
If it's only one Kick Hit, I just manually copy a good hit over the lousy hit to replace it. If you want to create a sample out of a recording, check this video ruclips.net/video/_bICY6sIWuo/видео.html
Chris, thanks for sharing all those videos... a follower of you over here. I have a question about generating midi from hitpoints. I have been using Slate Trigger 2 since released, even if before Trigger I was using Cubase's hitpoints (a user of Cubase since +20 years). My question is about slight differences I found from generating the midi from Cubase's hitpoints and Trigger2 and how it does affect phase issues. I have been coming back to Cubase's hitpoints since I found some minor phase issues with Trigger, but I'm not sure if it was my fault or some other people had these issues too. Have you using and comparing hitpoints midi generation versus Trigger 2 midi generation? If yes, you get the same acurate results? If not, what is your trusted method to do that task. Anyway, it could be an idea for a video topic from you in order to continue sharing valuable content. Thank you again.
Hi can you make video have to correct hit And tempo on real classic drum kit . and just want to ask if i can do same tempo till end that to sound proffesional. becouse when i record real drum kit the tempo always not good thanks .
Hey Chris, I don't know if you're dealing with this, but is your hitpoint detection mostly accurate? Mine has been pretty terrible. I'm running the latest Cubase on the latest Windows 10 update.
You can go to your channel mixer and under the fader where it says "M" for Mute and "S" for Solo, there is also a button that says "e". Hit that button
Thank you for clarifying. With gratitude for your contributions, your question translated to English is: "Many thanks for the input, well explained... I'm having problems adding my samples to groove agent. Since updating to 11, I can't properly drag them into the groove agent UI. I think it's got something to do with the resolution. Does anybody happen to know a fix for this?
Hey Chris, you are my hero ;-) I was looking for this method since years! Now I got great drums...thank you so much and keep going like this.
You run a great channel! Thanks a lot for your lessons
My pleasure! Thanks!
That's what I feel too... Keep doing this valuable lessons...
Greetings from Madrid - Spain. Thanks a lot for your videos. I like your way of explaining

Definitely Chris MAGIC. Great video. Thanks
If ever I need answers Chris is the quick reference. Seems to have an answer for everything I need.
Thanks CS! 👍🏾
Thanks so much Chris. I knew there had to be a way to replace a kick or snare with Cubase tools.
This video was tremendously helpful. Bear in mind, I did buy your courses but these videos are an asset as well. Thank you1
Chris, THANK YOU! I am inspired by this video lesson. You are the best, hands down.
Awesome 👏. I did the first part using a drumsampler but wasn’t aware how easy it is using single samples as well! 🙏
Cubase is full of surprises :-)
great video Chris!...I definitely have to try this as well, thanks!
You're welcome Ruud!

Thanks

lol Thanks!
Does anyone know how he got that window at 7:21 ?
You can go to your channel mixer and under the fader where it says "M" for Mute and "S" for Solo, there is also a button that says "e". Hit that button
@@yoyoz333 Thank you sir.
@@lewisticknor alternatively, the way he did it was by hitting that same "e" button next to the record button
Can this technique be used while recording or streaming drums live?
It can but with a Drum Replacement Plugin. You will have to deal with latency though
great stuff. but Cubase is not always 100% accurate at detecting Hitpoints. Some times it off by quite a few samples. snare drum especially
what version of Cubase are you using?
At the time of the video, C11... Now C13
Does anyone have a problem locating the "hitpoints" tab? I use 10.5 pro.
👍

Interresting, never happened to me so far
If anyone is having trouble getting audio after creating Midi notes, make sure the note is C1 NOT C-1 like mine was when I first tried doing this 🥲
I wish you showed how you open whatever that window is you started on
Great! This will help me. Thank you.
P.S. Which model keyboard on your table? (I mean QWERTY keyboard.)
..can you please make another tutorial in cubase 13? cos its not the same, it wont convert the whole region just one note...regards
Clicked thinking it was Vsauce
No
No
wtf is cubase
a DAW
This was great! Thank you, Chris!!
Thank you! It's my pleasure!
