  • The thing I like about the Digirig is the ability to create your own audio interface cables, change radios, but still have all of your digital mode settings the same. In this video we take a FT-60 I bought at hamvention, lookup the pinouts, and use that to create an audio interface for the digirig. With this, we can now use APRS, winlink and other 2m/70cm Digital modes.

Thanks for taking the time to do the video, clarified a few things for me. Diet Dr. Pepper is the best!

Nice video! Harbor Freight has pretty cheap shrink tubbing in packets of different sizes. I use it when I make a cable with PL259 ends. I need to get a digirig it looks easier to use then a signal link. 73

I like to use the "Marine" shrink tubing since it has the adhesive to add to the sealing properties.

I like the digirig because it's cheaper, smaller, the audio cables are also cheaper and so far I've never had to make any modifications with it. It's lacking hardware level control knobs, but it's never something I've needed.

@@ModernHam Is there a particular model/version I need to get, (like V2, V3 or something like that)? I need to get a couple, and looked them up last night.

@@arednog I say the latest and the greatest DigiRig Mobile. You also need a usb c table to go to the computer, and then the radio audio interface. Would like to do some more videos on it coon.

And how did you know you needed a capacitor and resistor? And which ones to use?

Someone smarter than me figured it out before and posted a diagram online.

@@ModernHam yeah man, we had a blast. Sorry there wasn't better footage of you, (I didn't want to jam the camera in your face, but your feet were fair game🤣).
We met with the state ARRL Chief today regarding AREDN, and we mentioned your channel to him. Turns out we're actually blood-related, and he lives a couple miles away from me.
He's excited about getting AREDN up and running, and is even helping us find good node locations. Maybe he can help you network in the Clarksville area, or has a contact in your next QTH location?
