I'm the proud owner of a relic, and I get to show my affection for it.
@Natimationarts mainly because they are old. The strings have aged, and the soundboard will vibrate less good. Also there have been some inventions in piano technology since then which give pianos their distinctive clean tone

This reminds me of when my school's band went to the nearby middle school to play for their kids. They had the shittiest marimba ever (I swear half of the notes were paper instead of wood) and it became painfully apparent when my solo came up on one of our pieces
The second most beat up piano is mine Every note is out of tune, you have a 20% of a note working when you press it, not to mention that on some notes it sounds like you are holding the right pedal but you aren't, and it's a player piano so you have to take care of boxes of scrolls like your a mage. That last one is a slight upside since a real life mage sounds pretty cool
