This video gives an example of a simple warm up punching drill to loosen students up and then a way to apply each technique in a free sparring situation.
Amazing! I started watching your videos as a white belt to practice my kata at home, sometimes it’s difficult in a big class to get all the fine points but your videos helped me so much! I passed my black belt grading 2 months ago 😊 so happy you are back with a new video! 🥰🥋🏴
Thank you for this and glad to see you back. I would love to see more videos like this one. You seem to touch on areas that are niche basics that a lot of videos on traditional Karate doesn't touch on. Basics, basics, basics!
Nice to see new content on your channel. It's been a while. Your instructional kata videos have been extremely helpful to me over the years. Thank you. Hopefully see more regular uploads.
I was practising karate last year but suddenly stopped. Next month I plan to take online karate lessons and practise at home. Your videos was and still, very helpful. Thank you sir.
Oss Sensei!!! Great to see you again!! Why you stopped?! Hope everything is fine!! We all want to see new videos from you again!! Greetings from Greece!!
27 years ago I received my black belt in Goju Ryu and then stopped after being deployed. I have know return to martial arts and at 46 years old it is not easy starting from the beginning but I am enjoying it is there any tips you can give me I chose Shotokan after mountains of research please help me if you can.
Sensei. There is a verbal command used in dojos to get to the class to musubi dachi in order to bow. It is like "attention command" in military. Could you pls tell me what is that command? Thank you!
Why not just pary the punch also some times it's best to just cradle the side of your head then to extend your arm out however if it Is a easily telegraphed punch maybe
Are the hook and uppercut traditional Shotokan techniques? I think you might want to look at some technically sound examples of these: ruclips.net/video/M4slY-CM9V4/видео.html
So many things to say. First, good to see you moving beyond the fairly rigid looking basics of what everybody supposes Shotokan to be comprised of. However, those techniques are best thrown from a regular fighting stance with one foot forward. Practicing them from a neutral stance only (one could, of course, wind up there) takes the practice backward a step or two. Then, as I see it, unfortunately, you go right back into the standard format of defending against a straight karate style punch, hikite and all, which again, removes the stuff you were demonstrating from its natural environment. I can't comment on the application of this to competitive kumite because I need to think more. Yes, it is good to see you back online after so long, your explicit kata demonstrations have assisted me in learning them quite a bit. Also, dude who said (below) that he was going to start studying karate online. God, I hope that was a joke!!
wow good to see you after a long time
