    Ben Johnson has had a whole offseason to figure out ways to get this man the ball. He'll figure it out I have faith in him.

  • @kevinmcguinn200

    I think your spot on when you mention them not utilizing Gibbs and Jamo. The Lions want to lineup and play smash mouth football then hit you with a play action fake. Gibbs is merely just another wrinkle that they will use on occasions which was a wasted pic at #12… This is why they were jumping around in the draft room like it was their first time getting laid when they landed Gibbs… What most people forget to realize is that Swift wanted out because he didn’t want to play running back by committee. He was frustrated by the way he was being used even when he was healthy, although the lions told us they wanted to not use him as much because they wanted to keep him healthy and that was complete BS and debunked on social media by Swift and his cousin, they were even doing it when he was healthy. what’s sad is that they could have drafted Jalen Carter, and still picked up Gibbs later in the round. If anybody with any common sense, just Hass to ask yourself who is the biggest threat to take it to the house, Jamaal, Williams, or D’Andre Swift? Montgomery or Gibbs? lol bunch of Bozo’s

    • @spiritofdetroitpodcast
      @spiritofdetroitpodcast  8 месяцев назад +2

      Exactly swift getting 15 touches per game and averaging 5.5 is still a mystery - my opinion they didn’t want to pay him . They knew he could go the distance and be big for this team but they want to pay Their guys . No him . They still aren’t committed to paying gofff and I feel this is just something the back doors agreed on - we not paying nobody till we have our guys solidified !

      @@spiritofdetroitpodcast This is nothing new to those of us that have lived through 40 + years of suck-ass Lions GMs. Either fing player's over at contract time, or actually meddling in team affairs (like how many times Swift touches it) just to make themselves appear less mentally handicapped. And they always say the same GD thing. "The player wasn't happy here". Well pardon my French, but, BULLSHIT!! Make the player happy you twits! The 1st time I saw this was Eric Kramer. He led us to 6 straight wins, Pounded the Cowboys in the playoffs and had a129 QBR. So how do we reward that? We trade him to fn Chicago? BTW everyone I mention has said later on that they didn't want to leave Detroit. But felt unwanted by management mostly fiscally. So Kramer was the 1st one I noticed. Then Chris MFing Spielman. Who had more tackles in his 8 years in Detroit than any LB ever in 8 years. (some say 2nd to Tuggle but his stats are not accurate). So we decide not to match Buffalo's 2 mil/year offer? Shit, we had a DT I've never heard of (for good reasons) (He sucked) making 4. Barry Sanders, Ndamukong Suh, Calvin (pay the man) Johnson. All of these guys would have had record busting long ass careers in Detroit if not for management. We just traded the 2nd in YPCarry and 5th in YPCatch last year for a 4th rounder. Then had to waste our 12th pick for a GD RB. I like the kid, just not at 12. How'd Miami make out with pick 84. I watched zero tape on him but his numbers match Gibbs, is faster, and he played against not for Bama.

  • @Truthtella
    @Truthtella 8 месяцев назад +4

    Totally agree with the notion that the Lions don't know how to utilize player with speed. They aren't getting Gibbs in space they are using him like a traditional back. Jameson and Gibbs have to be accounted for when they touch the field because of the elite speed but it seems as though Detroit is allergic to using it to their advantage. Hope they do use some of Miami concepts to really open up this offense but we shall see. Great content.

    That smoke screen play gets snuffed out in pros, but if you set it up right and now when to use it when you get the right looks, it is crucial. In CFB teams, run that WR screen out by the numbers a lot when they have that speed and talent mismatch.
    Does it kind of worry that Jamison doesn't know his assignments or alignment after having his playbook for 17 months?
    Some would argue that a rookie TE has a steeper learning curve because of the blocking aspect and LaPorta knows where to be and his assignment within the play concept. Jamison could and should have been sleeping with that playbook with all the time he has had off the field not playing. That kinda worries me.

      @spiritofdetroitpodcast I'm sure the Kalif package with the end around and will be on the table for him, I could see a deep backside cross route. Goff is pretty good at pushing the ball into tight windows and if he can hit JMO on a skinny post or a mid seam route in stride ,he can get upfield in a hurry.

    It's also just a matter of time, just like KC tackle lining up illegal and getting a jump, the NFL and the refs are gonna make an example of Miami and Hill by, calling illegal motion. They are gonna call him 3-4 times in one game and rightfully so because no part of his body can move towards the LOS when he goes in motion, and that bend or lean is gonna get called.

      @spiritofdetroitpodcast Not exactly, but the expectation of Miami after that Denver game was that they were unstoppable and they were gonna rip thru everyone and score 40 pts a game and we found out that they are not gonna be that team. Just like Detroit, if we lose to a 0-3 team at home, the doubt is gonna creep back in that maybe Detroit is not as good as everyone thought. We are transitioning into a team that is expected to win by our fans and the national media and we will have to prove that by not slipping and getting beat by a 0-4 team at home with a rookie QB.
      Do you think SF or Philly or Buffalo would lose to Caroline at home? If they do,what would you think of them after that game?
      I would think, maybe they are not as good as we all though. Does that seem reasonable? Because if we lose Sunday I will guarantee that's what will be thought about us. Also, what were people saying after we lost to Seattle, maybe they are not that good. After a statement win you come out at home and play a sloppy game and have 2 turnovers in the redzone that cost you 14 pts. People were doubtful about Detroit after that game, just like people are doubtful about Miami after the Buffalo game, and there will be people who question how good are we really if we lose to Carolina

    To many fans stuck on draft position value. Who cares when you have multiple mouths to feed. It’s about winning football games, not sexy stats for 1st round picks in Jamo/Gibbs. These guys are not only weapons, but play design decoys.

      Your bowling this down to STATS - Not what I said . But since we talking STATS cuz u brought it up - the lions vs Green Bay had 284 yards of offense in the first half - I. The 3rd quarter they had 17 yards of offense by the end of the 3- THATS CALLED A SCORING LULL- also since u stat guy we had 10 drives which resulted in 3 Tds / 2 field goals and 3 punts - the lions punted the ball the entire 3rd quarter stop with your whining - this is about keeping our foot on the neck of the OPPONENT- Green Bay and Atlanta were Inferior competition!

    I'm gonna get hate for this but...I have zero faith jared goff can even get jamo the ball. He's not that type of QB. Goff is a basic game manager that does not have the arm strength or the type of awareness to even get jamo the ball. He has to be completely wide open like last year or LaPorta this year on a broken defensive play. The jets game where goff was way too late on the throw where jamo beat sauce....that is what Goff is. We literally can not compare Tua and Goff...Tua has actual arm strength and throws deep regularly. I don't think Ben Johnson even wants goff to throw deep for mistake purposes. Has a pick just about every gamr . They don't even have faith in him throwing deep. It makes me cringe when he throws it in the middle of the field. Like I said I will get hate there's no one that can change my mind on that so don't even try. goff just isn't that type of QB what so ever. Just have to be used to his average game manager skills.
