Because it's relative. If you come from a developing country, of course a European country will feel secure. It's comparing apples and oranges. In reality, France is pretty unsafe at times but it's definitely not as bad as North American countries.

As a Frenchman who lived in Paris for a while (which was the most beautiful city in the world, tied with Rome), I left that country 3 years ago.
It has become absolutely disgusting to live there in every sense of the word: it's horribly filthy, insecurity is enormous (you can't walk alone in Paris after 11pm, especially if you're a woman), terrible policies that harm the population and in particular their freedom and sell our country to the globalists and the EU, government spending that is ruining the country, etc. etc. and nobody really cares.
We have nothing against foreigners who want to work and help our country develop, exactly as the woman said, you have to respect the country you live in, but even this essential common sense idea is not accepted by the left-wing voters who are pushing for ‘Creolisation’ which will destroy everything that makes France France (history, culture, etc.).
I don't like what my country has become and I don't think it will change any time soon due to the utter stupidity of the French electorate who are gaslighted and indoctrinated into following a destructive ideology pushed by the government and the far left.
It's a real disgrace.

I've been a migrant for 2 years myself and I have learnt that I belong to my own country and nowhere else, so I came back and that was the good decision.
I disagree even with the idea of war refuge. Just imagine what would have happened if other Europeans run to the US during WWII. Refuge is a crime to me. If our countries are free, it's because our ancestors didn't run. They would stay and fight even after the army was defeated.

I was there 13 months ago. The exact same area. Gare du Nord. I had my cell phone stolen on my way to my hotel! Then, my friend and I were harassed and threatened countless times every time we had to go to the train station or at the Sacre Coure. It was terrible! I had been in France over 15x since 2000 but last was 2012. It was not the Paris I had grown to love. Zero assimilation... So sad the French people don't think anything is wrong. It's gonna be too late for them when they do
