Got to agree with LOST YOU FOREVER! That left me wanting more. My other fav is THE STORY OF KUNNING PALACE My God the I WANT YOU kiss scene in that was AMAZING. That kept me excited right to the end. Til the end of the moon had too many spitting blood episodes, actually just about every episode someone was spitting the tomato sauce. That's what ruined that for me. Just overboard with that!
I know xiao zhan trough the longest promise randomly. And now become his fan after searching him and knowing him better. I love his acting and his microexpression.

I just finished Love You Seven Times and really enjoyed it. So much so that I just bought it on DVD. As it got just over halfway through, I can agree that it was slow in parts that should have been faster and fast in parts that should have been slower. The chemistry and acting were great though. 8/10 - I recommend it.
I know that it only matters how Asian countries feel about the drama. However many of these dramas come to western countries and we aren't so involved in whether it follows the book or not or if the water runs while the couple is kissing. I look for a drama that can keep me interested and engaged. Several of the ones an this list I have watched and enjoyed. So as far as I'm concerned they weren't flops to me. Stay healthy, happy and safe always.
I think the main issue is netizens and not the actual Chinese audience. Although art is subjective and people should express themselves freely; I have never witnessed such online bullying as I have with neitizens and Asian actors/actresses. They say the most hurtful things. Of course its not everyone, but it has gotten so abusive imo. It matters what your opinion is because you are a consumer, just like everyone else! You pay just as the Chinese audience pays. Again, I think most of the bad reviews come from netizens. Of course, if they don't like something, they should express themselves, but they take it too far. It becomes like a group think; everyone will pile on, especially if they love the ml and dislike the fl..its pretty bad.
Just as I think. Especially Chinese they have a really different preference I guess. Because there is this certain drama that really hit and got a really high rating on Douban. But it's rating on IMDB is much worse than one of the dramas here that has been labelled as a flop.

Then I find out it was to make the FL to fit the censors idea of acceptable female behaviour and the original book plot is WAY more interesting. They are sanitizing novels into snoredom 🤐😴
@@tomjones2157 that's what I mean. In western countries we don't pick apart if the fl looks at the ml without blinking, or if the dishes on the table weren't placed properly. I don't mind the censorship because I'm tired of western movies showing everything whether it's over the top violence or hide nothing sexual. I admit when I watch an historical drama I don't know the true history so things a person of that country will know its wrong, I don't. It just seems when they do point out when something isn't correct they get really nasty and hateful. That I feel is totally uncalled for.
I suggest goodbye my princess. The cinematography, scenery, costume is all top notch. The main leads have sizzling chemistry..the not only is that the FL is very pretty her crying scenes are amazing too. It's a tear jerker but I think it is a much watch. If you have Viki I suggest you watch the directors cut instead.
Even though there is a significant number of people who are annoyed by the female lead in "The Longest Pronmise" -- even annoyed enough to drop the drama -- I really don't think this drama was a flop, because the haters are balanced out by a lot of people (particularly inside China) who really love it. The impression I get from reading about the various ratings in China, the male lead character is one of the most popular characters in China right now. Also, after watching the drama twice and now on my 3rd re-watch, I think the plot is actually very good, and more complex than people (many of whom who never even finished) give it credit for. True, it's slower-paced than some of the other dramas in that genre, but if you give it a chance and watch it with an open-mind then you might see that there are multiple layers to the story that makes it wonderfully meaningful. But that's just my take -- and I know a lot of people who love the drama feel similar.
Sorry I like XZ but I dropped the drama because of the FL. I couldn't stand her. And if you think about their levels of popularity. I don't understand how XZ got casted with such a less popular actress. I want to see him playing along a top Female Lead for once. One which actually knows to Act! And the story is a typical Xianxia drama, they kept the drama so much on the shelf that it kinda "expired" in terms of uniqueness. It doesn't bring nothing new compared to many other popular Xianxia which runned 2-3 years ago.

And as for why XZ didn't get to act with the actress at the same level of popularity as him, I think one; is because of the production cost. It's gonna cost a lot with 2 top-list actors in one drama. And I've read someone said that it was to avoid some fan-wars between the actor and actress fans. I also read that one of the top-list actress fans said that she didn't want her favorite actress to act alongside XZ since XZ's popularity is top notch and it would overshadow her favorite.
@sayurivkg if he plays along top female actress, there will be "fan war" on who's top billing. People are crazy over there. So much problem with who's name is listed on top and who's on the bottom. XZ can carry a drama by himself. No need the head aches.

I would say 'Fireworks of my heart' was a flop in China especially on Douban but look at its' rating on every other streaming platform. A huge number of people giving it a 1 star on Douban were commenting that they haven't watched the series but still give it this rating. These ratings are too fishy😅
2023 dramas did not do well because TTEOM fans still hooked on TTEOM after months passing by. No drama has over take TTEOM yet. We only want to watch Bailu and Yunxi. We are only waiting for Yunxi and Bailu 😂😍
True true. I started my chinese drama obsession with TTEOM and It truly impressed me, my second is the longest promise, and I couldn't handle the open-ending 😢... WeiWuxian then continued to make me cry cry cry.... so Im stuck with chinese drama the whole year. I cant bring myself to watch Hollywood movies now - too shallow, too much skinship. ❤❤ India

@FatimaMohammed-es4tq it was dreadful and fake - like it was made for under 12 years market. Nasty costumes you'd expect from a Lad Vegas girlie show not a classy ancient inspired drama. Only the supporting actors and the fast forward button that got me through.
I don’t think the longest promise flopped. Data clearly shows it was a hit drama and it was even classified as one of the hit dramas in China snd Tencent drama. If you analyze your data using MDL that is typically biased then you’re wrong. Also love you seven times wasn’t a flop either, it didn’t hit so hard but never flopped either in fact its douban rating is even higher than My Journey to You.

I don’t know why Chinese netizens targeted the FL in “the longest promise” everybody focusing on her beauty she is exceptionally talented she matched with xiao zhans energy so well their chemistry was awesome. Imagine their so called beauty wang churan (no hate) in this role the drama would have been so flopped that even xiao zhans fame couldn’t have saved it. I really enjoyed TLP and alll characters. Drama was a total hit…¡!!!!

"The Longest Promise" is my favourite drama at the moment and I'm currently re-watching it for the third time and still discovering something new. Ren Min may not be classically pretty, but she is perfect for the role, and her acting is great. People have to realize that the original Zhu Yan in the novel was even more thoughtless and childish than the drama version. One wonders why the author wrote the character that way, but I think maybe her fiery character is meant to be a contrast to Shi Ying's calm, restraint, and introversion -- like Yin and Yang (Shi Ying's character is mostly Yin and Zhu Yan is mostly Yang).

I actually liked the Legend of Ren Anle surprisingly. Will say the 2nd half was very lackluster. I had a hard time getting into Love Between Fairy and Devil. Didn’t even make it pass the 1st episode. The longest promise is visually stunning but I couldn’t get into the story.
I really liked the first half of Legend of Anle, but then it didn't know what it wanted say next and kind of rambled out. I feel like it lacked a clear message.
I suffered through Love Between Fairy and Devil. I found the script to be terrible for me but great for teenager who enjoy such love stories. The only plus side is that the fanfics are on fire. I wouldn't rewatch it even on threat of death.

The longest promise a flop? At least you don't know the meaning of the word flop. A show can recieve unfavorable reviews but if it consists of simple and one-dimensional downgradiñg of just a single element of the show, chances are people are just influnced by and duplicating other people's opinion without thinking for themselves.
Exactly. I feel a lot of people didn't even bother to give "The Longest Promise" a fair chance just because the female lead didn't meet their ideal expectation for what the lead actress with Xiao Zhan should be. So whatever they say about the drama being plotless or bland or being full of holes should be taken with a grain of salt anyway. You can't truly be a good judge of a drama unless you were really paying attention with it in an unprejudiced way. And watching the whole drama helps too, lol. I find that most of the people crapping on "The Longest Promise" didn't even watch the whole drama.
Snow eagle lord wasn't perfect, but it wasn't a flop either. It's a good drama to watch for those who like action. I was able to watch to the end, so i would say it's watchable, don't listen to bad rating and find out for yourself whether it's something you like. Xukai was phenomenal as dongbo xueying, and i like his chemistry with nazha. Drama that adapt from novel always get criticize for not following novel, this is the same, also heard the production was poor cause they don't have money. Xukai deserves better, his hard work in this drama should be recognized, his action scenes were great. Hope to see him do more action dramas ❤❤❤
The issue is different from the original story, which is far superior, trust me I have seen dramas that cut the best parts and keep the worst from the novels.
Even the donghua Anime of Snow eagle lord was much better. Eastern live adaptations of novels and anime suffer the same curse as western media do, they tend to suck because they ignore the original content. I have to say the only reason people liked the live adaptation of snow eagle is because of the top stars leads. Because the adaptation was an insult to the what made the original great. If people keep mentioning the the actors names instead characters and the storyline raises a red flag. Thats why i keep away from people who says the story is great because so and so is in it.
I think "The Longest Promise" was a flop only for western audiences? I know on Reddit, for instance, the opinion about this drama is mainly negative, with most people saying they didn't even finish it. And the ratings on the MDL website for this drama isn't high. But these are given by English-speaking audiences. However, from what I can tell "The Longest Promise" did extremely well in China. So I really don't think it should be included on this "flop" list.

I didn't like the first few episodes of #TheLongestPromise because of the annoying female lead but still gave it a chance because of #XiaoZhan and his amazing acting. But I think Zhu Yan was able to redeem herself in the later episodes and I don't regret watching it until the end. I suggest you guys give it a chance as well. ❤😊
I found her really annoying at first too. Later, after the character mature a little, it was bearable. XZ was excellent, especially after he took her as his disciple. When he was hurting as they fought, I cried, he looked so vulnerable.
Me too and I still watching it on Netflix. The person who put this drama on a flop was as stupid as her/his boss. Not just the acting part was excellent but all the costumes were exquisite. Thanks for letting us know about your Chinese culture…

I really enjoyed the “The Longest Promise” and was actually pulled in to watch it because I found the FL’s performance really good and I thought her look was interesting. I’ve now seen more of her dramas and see that for her age she’s pretty good!! I had no idea who the ML was but they suited each other well and everyone did a great job!! 😊❤
I don't think it's a flop, just support all the actors and the staff because they work hard for every movies or dramas they've been filming...haters will always be there no matter you do good or not. Appreciating one's work is a good motivation for them to continue making a satisfactory project.❤❤❤
They called it flop for a reason bcoz they are traffic star.. Traffic star should excell even how ugly storyline and character they get. It flop frm public veiwers then it FLOP accept the fact that even traffic star doesn't mean the story they will get and gave are good story .
I think the longest promise didn't flop, it just lack some consistency in the plot story especially about ice clan and several episodes near the end of the story. But overall the acting and the character development were so good, love it eventhough i didnt plan to watch it at all.
I watched half of these shows The Longest Promise, Snow Eagle Lord, Legend of Anle and Love You Seven Times and I wouldn't consider them extremaly bad... There were good thing and bad things about them, but I definitely was pulled by LYST the most! I like the concept of destined lovers, that's probably why I enjoyed it so much. Costumes are amazing! Chu Kong as a demon-cat Lord is engraved in my mind. A lot of adaptations don't meet the standards of original novel, so fans of novels already don't view the dramas the same as people who watch it without any previous informations. And as a person who haven’t read any of the novels, all of them were pretty great. The Legend of Anle wasn't executed great in my opinion, the show felt a bit draggy for me and I admit that Gong Jun's acting wasn’t the best for me.. all the characters were interesting, but I felt like there were moments when they are a bit out of character... Snow Eagle Lord.. I watched because of Xu Kai's amazing acting and interesting story, focused on improving already powerful person. The Longest Promise for me is worth rewatching, because it has some great acting and costumes+effects are just gorgeous!
I thought I was the only one that felt that legend of Anle is boring, by the time I reached episode 10 I was done, and your point was right everything looked too fake to the point that even a fresher to these dramas can tell, many other female characters screamed plastic surgery, they looked uncanny and everyone was too white. On top of that Dilireba was too white for no reason and too skinny her character was unconvincing they didn't have too bleach her too much but overall everything about this drama doesn't engage you at all. And yes the longest promise didn't flop, it was a SUCCESS
Beauty of Resilience was really bad. The last two episodes were a mess. The lead female looks exactly the same in every drama I’ve seen her in. Same makeup and styling. The plot felt like a fever dream and so many holes! Characters would disappear without any follow up. Waste of time.

I am amazed that people do not understand that KDRAMAS & CDRAMAS are no longer made for one country. The future is world wide distribution. I can honestly say that I am impressed with the growth with all Asian dramas that I have chosen to watch. I honestly believe that Asian series will continue to grow in popularity as the world audiences continue to watch.
I did watch Love you seven times until the final episode. It was unsatisfying. I did drop Beauty of Resilience, Legend of Anle despite liking Dilriba as an actress.

I agree with your list. It’s sad that if they were going to spend so much money on production, they should first invest in having a great script and story. Otherwise, it’s like building a palace on sand. I am glad that you put the Longest Promise on the list. I tried watching it many times but couldn’t take it and finally just had to drop. Couldn’t get into the story. It’s like a great looking dish but tastes so bland.
Legend of Anle was more frustrating than disappointing for me. 1- They start with a original good plot and end up with a basic boring one. 2- Not only, the lead actors had zero chemistry but the female lead had a lot of chemistry with the second male lead. 3- The male lead was not so smart, not so strong, and being fair was his super power. Boring as hell. 4- Anle was the exact opposite. She was a strategist, an incredible fighter, she was fair but loyal and absolutely funny. Not only they didn't match, but it made the male lead even more boring. 5- When the female lead stops to be Anle and become Di Ziyuan, she starts being depressed like, "we can't be together now that the truth had come out." And they were BOTH boring until the end of the drama. 6- Personal opinion: I'm tired to see women give up the crown in historical drama. Everytime a male heir fight against tyranny, he takes the throne despite the wars it will cause. But everytime a female heir fight against tyranny, she only tries to take the throne if she's a vilain. The rest always say either : "I want to avoid wars so I will renounce to the throne" or when the heritage won't cause any war : "I don't like to be a ruler. I don't wanna be a queen."

Agreed "legend of Anle" had lack of chemistry and there were excessive filters. "Fireworks of my heart" had no fiery content related to the heart. "Love you seven times" was such a mundane show. No real love story to follow in any life.
I agreed with the entire list. Some I don't bother to start like Love you 7 times because I don't like the lead actress. She can't act; others I invested times and ended up dropped them like TLAL, TLP, FWOMH, SEL, etc
Sometimes we should not put all the blame to the actors in the drama... It may also due to some poor directing and poor script not good too many issues they put in it not following the main story line. I ve watched some dramas like that I also stopped watching it... Just like Diralba they give always a role that is too over powering that she even exceeded the male leads like in The Long Ballad again in The Legend of Anle... They should balance whoever is in charge so i put much on the script and directing... Sorry for this though. I watched The Long Promise too but did not finish, so with The Beauty of Resilience and
The long ballad is understandable I think. Because its main focus is the growth of Changge, so it highlights her abilities more. Not that Ashun any weaker though. 😊

@@cheesepop510 well I think it's a common to make the love story of main/first couple to be more complicated than others. But GeSun love story is indeed one of the most complicated among them 😂. Still understandable from screenwriter if they want to make it more realistic and to show us that relationship not only about rainbow and sunshine, moreover if it's happened in ancient times where communication isn't as easy as now plus different education too.
Data says LOA is the highest money minting drama. So, it’s hit and chemistry broke all records so in that part also it’s hit. Storyline was a mess but the acting of all involved was A plus so I don’t think it will be called a flop … The longest promise broke every record it was there to break. XZ was praised for his acting and storyline was gripping too. FL was strong too. PE still is number 1 everywhere. Some Viewers may feel bored but I loved and enjoyed. Rest I agree …

I am still watching “The Longest Promise”. So far I like it and I love Xiao Zhan he is also my favorite actor, he’s an amazing actor. But the female character doesn’t really interest me much, I mean she is ok. I believe Zhao Lusi or Bai Lu will go well for this character, I would love it more with Zhao Lusi or Bai Lu ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ to me it’s not a flop. It’s not the best if compare to “ The Untamed”. I think most of criticisms are on point. The Longest promise was so hard for me to watch. I found the FL annoying. Legend of Anle started out well but later just became something else. I have tried watching Snow Eagle Lord several times but found no motivation to keep going.
I love watching Zhao Lusi but I can't get into Hidden Love drama. I tried but I couldn't. The Legend of Anle was good. I love it a lot. Simon Gong is perfect as the crown prince. Dilraba as Anle is good. The ending is beautiful. They lived happily ever after. I hate cliffhangers & tragic endings. Remember, dramas are entertainment, not a punishment.
The legend of Anle, after three month airing. Now is number 1, in Youku... I think this drama Will explode, if there is not much had cut by the director and producer. @Lunafreya_Nox that's your opinion, for me, She's not as gorgeous as Dilireba, and she is always criticized for her look. But at least she doesn't look so fake and forced when she cries, and she is powerful in emotional scenes. I became her fan after watching the long ballad. In LLTG, she was nominated as the best actress at Seoul International and Macau International because of her acting. And received an award from South Korea for the actress who has the best chemistry with all her co-actors. She is still young. Hope she will improve in the future. Sorry for my grammar😊

Im watching The Longest Promise at the moment...and Im loving the drama really.... I also love the FL....I really think Ren Min is cute...The issue with her was esp. from netizens in China, they dont think shes pretty enough to be in a costume drama as FL and worse co- staring with Xiao Zhan and teased saying her nose is too big....😅....ngl...some comments was funny as hell....but for the extreme hate against her I dont agree nor tolerate. So far shes acting pretty well...even more so than many super pretty looking actresses...I think many are just pissed and jealous because she can be in the same drama and space as Xiao Zhan...to many hes like their god so no woman is good enough to act with him unless they say so and thats so selfish of them....( though Xiao Zhan is wickedly handsome in here Im not gonna lie, Im on the verge of fainting just watching him😍😍🥰🥰🫠🫠🫠😂😂😂...

i don't know about the rest but i do agree legend of anle didn't make that much of noises, considering both male and female lead are famous. in fact, i found out about the drama while searching for dilreba while wondering whether she was on long rest or not, because i didn't heard about her work this year. and i do also agree about jingyi acting in beauty of resilience. she still my favorite tho. i hope she do better in the next drama.
Menurut gw ini jga perlu menjadi pembelajaran oleh masing2 platform. Hanya karena list artist diatas adalah list top artis sampai drama2 tersebut di simpan cukup lama. Dianggap sebagai senjata cadangan yg ampuh. Seperti Legend of Anle & Longest Promise. Padahal secara CGI dll sudah cukup kalah jauh dengan drama yg baru saja syuting dan segera di rilis. Juga karena disimpan cukup lama eksepektasi orang2 akan drama diatas lebih bagus dripada drama yg dbintangi artis biasa. Nyatanya tidak 🥲. I kind of agree with you about all these dramas. I watched at least most of them till the end and did not drop any of the ones I started watching, but I felt like these actors and actresses are some of the best in the Chinese industry, but the dramas were not their best works overall. For example, in Legend of Anle, I felt like Dilraba and Gong Jun didn't have the hype to act together. Ren Min is such a young actress, and having her act in such a drama is a waste of the script. I have watched some of her dramas, and she is very good at modern ones.
I don't care about the other dramas, but I really enjoyed "The Longest Promise". Maybe the FL wasn't perfect, but she wasn't bad either. I know it's not possible, but I would love a second season with the same cast (including the FL).
The legend of Anle is one of my favorites. The longest Promise had everything to be good but a good female lead (what a annoying woman...NOOOOO), and the end was disappointing. The male lead saved the experience but I wouldn't watch again. Beauty of resilience became unbearable after the egg; what was that, why? Couldn't that woman just have a normal pregnancy? Ridiculous! I finished it but I don't even remember how it ended.
1st, I always make my own choices on what I watch now in Chinese series and don't care one bit what a bunch of rabid Chinese netizen fans say. Found out I missed more then a few great series I like by listening to them and other's opinions back 4 years ago. Watched them later and liked or loved the series. I ALSO don't care anymore what the novels have in them as I want to enjoy what is on film, not spend time comparing it and criticizing it the whole way through it.. I though Love You Seven Times was a nice series but I never expected it to be a smash hit either

I don't let lists and reviews decide what I should or should not watch on TV. The same goes for movies. I will watch something and draw my own conclusion on a story, as well as the acting.

I try all the dramas in ur list except the last ,(I don't like both the leads) and I agree I drop them all cuz I felt so bored , the longest promise four episodes were more than enough for me, the interaction between the leads were so cringy , Love you 7 times same no chemistry at all

Why isn’t till the Tilll the end of the Moon here. It was the biggest disappointment ever. Luo Yunxi carried that drama so hard he died at the end ( reasons that made no sense). Some of the side characters helped as they were great with what little was given to them. Bailu was just awful and did nothing with her lacking facial expressions and whatever is going on with her teeth. This drama was supposed to be the highest quality yet by episode 15 nothing made sense, terrible editing, deleted scenes, unnecessary blood splatter that it was almost comical, characters who were completely forgotten with their plot left hanging etc. I get they had to cut 10 episodes but they could have a done a better job for such a high budget drama.
Bailu did a great job in tteom. U must he blind. What does her teeth go anything to do with her acting? Luo yunxi has been bodyshamed and faceshamed throughout the drama. U are insane😊

Got to agree with LOST YOU FOREVER! That left me wanting more. My other fav is THE STORY OF KUNNING PALACE My God the I WANT YOU kiss scene in that was AMAZING. That kept me excited right to the end. Til the end of the moon had too many spitting blood episodes, actually just about every episode someone was spitting the tomato sauce. That's what ruined that for me. Just overboard with that!
I know xiao zhan trough the longest promise randomly. And now become his fan after searching him and knowing him better. I love his acting and his microexpression.

I just finished Love You Seven Times and really enjoyed it. So much so that I just bought it on DVD. As it got just over halfway through, I can agree that it was slow in parts that should have been faster and fast in parts that should have been slower. The chemistry and acting were great though. 8/10 - I recommend it.

I know that it only matters how Asian countries feel about the drama. However many of these dramas come to western countries and we aren't so involved in whether it follows the book or not or if the water runs while the couple is kissing. I look for a drama that can keep me interested and engaged. Several of the ones an this list I have watched and enjoyed. So as far as I'm concerned they weren't flops to me. Stay healthy, happy and safe always.
I think the main issue is netizens and not the actual Chinese audience. Although art is subjective and people should express themselves freely; I have never witnessed such online bullying as I have with neitizens and Asian actors/actresses.
They say the most hurtful things. Of course its not everyone, but it has gotten so abusive imo.

Just as I think. Especially Chinese they have a really different preference I guess. Because there is this certain drama that really hit and got a really high rating on Douban. But it's rating on IMDB is much worse than one of the dramas here that has been labelled as a flop.

@@tomjones2157 that's what I mean. In western countries we don't pick apart if the fl looks at the ml without blinking, or if the dishes on the table weren't placed properly. I don't mind the censorship because I'm tired of western movies showing everything whether it's over the top violence or hide nothing sexual. I admit when I watch an historical drama I don't know the true history so things a person of that country will know its wrong, I don't. It just seems when they do point out when something isn't correct they get really nasty and hateful. That I feel is totally uncalled for.
I suggest goodbye my princess. The cinematography, scenery, costume is all top notch. The main leads have sizzling chemistry..the not only is that the FL is very pretty her crying scenes are amazing too. It's a tear jerker but I think it is a much watch. If you have Viki I suggest you watch the directors cut instead.
Even though there is a significant number of people who are annoyed by the female lead in "The Longest Pronmise" -- even annoyed enough to drop the drama -- I really don't think this drama was a flop, because the haters are balanced out by a lot of people (particularly inside China) who really love it. The impression I get from reading about the various ratings in China, the male lead character is one of the most popular characters in China right now. Also, after watching the drama twice and now on my 3rd re-watch, I think the plot is actually very good, and more complex than people (many of whom who never even finished) give it credit for. True, it's slower-paced than some of the other dramas in that genre, but if you give it a chance and watch it with an open-mind then you might see that there are multiple layers to the story that makes it wonderfully meaningful. But that's just my take -- and I know a lot of people who love the drama feel similar.

And the story is a typical Xianxia drama, they kept the drama so much on the shelf that it kinda "expired" in terms of uniqueness. It doesn't bring nothing new compared to many other popular Xianxia which runned 2-3 years ago.

And as for why XZ didn't get to act with the actress at the same level of popularity as him, I think one; is because of the production cost. It's gonna cost a lot with 2 top-list actors in one drama. And I've read someone said that it was to avoid some fan-wars between the actor and actress fans. I also read that one of the top-list actress fans said that she didn't want her favorite actress to act alongside XZ since XZ's popularity is top notch and it would overshadow her favorite.

I would say 'Fireworks of my heart' was a flop in China especially on Douban but look at its' rating on every other streaming platform. A huge number of people giving it a 1 star on Douban were commenting that they haven't watched the series but still give it this rating. These ratings are too fishy😅
2023 dramas did not do well because TTEOM fans still hooked on TTEOM after months passing by. No drama has over take TTEOM yet. We only want to watch Bailu and Yunxi. We are only waiting for Yunxi and Bailu 😂😍

WeiWuxian then continued to make me cry cry cry.... so Im stuck with chinese drama the whole year. I cant bring myself to watch Hollywood movies now - too shallow, too much skinship. ❤❤ India

I don’t think the longest promise flopped. Data clearly shows it was a hit drama and it was even classified as one of the hit dramas in China snd Tencent drama. If you analyze your data using MDL that is typically biased then you’re wrong. Also love you seven times wasn’t a flop either, it didn’t hit so hard but never flopped either in fact its douban rating is even higher than My Journey to You.

I don’t know why Chinese netizens targeted the FL in “the longest promise” everybody focusing on her beauty she is exceptionally talented she matched with xiao zhans energy so well their chemistry was awesome. Imagine their so called beauty wang churan (no hate) in this role the drama would have been so flopped that even xiao zhans fame couldn’t have saved it. I really enjoyed TLP and alll characters. I totally agree with you. You've expressed exactly what I was thinking. "The Longest Promise" is my favourite drama at the moment and I'm currently re-watching it for the third time and still discovering something new. Ren Min may not be classically pretty, but she is perfect for the role, and her acting is great. People have to realize that the original Zhu Yan in the novel was even more thoughtless and childish than the drama version. One wonders why the author wrote the character that way, but I think maybe her fiery character is meant to be a contrast to Shi Ying's calm, restraint, and introversion -- like Yin and Yang (Shi Ying's character is mostly Yin and Zhu Yan is mostly Yang).

I actually liked the Legend of Ren Anle surprisingly. Will say the 2nd half was very lackluster. I had a hard time getting into Love Between Fairy and Devil. Didn’t even make it pass the 1st episode. The longest promise is visually stunning but I couldn’t get into the story.
I really liked the first half of Legend of Anle, but then it didn't know what it wanted say next and kind of rambled out. I feel like it lacked a clear message.
I suffered through Love Between Fairy and Devil. I found the script to be terrible for me but great for teenager who enjoy such love stories.
The only plus side is that the fanfics are on fire. I wouldn't rewatch it even on threat of death.

The longest promise a flop? At least you don't know the meaning of the word flop. A show can recieve unfavorable reviews but if it consists of simple and one-dimensional downgradiñg of just a single element of the show, chances are people are just influnced by and duplicating other people's opinion without thinking for themselves.
Exactly. I feel a lot of people didn't even bother to give "The Longest Promise" a fair chance just because the female lead didn't meet their ideal expectation for what the lead actress with Xiao Zhan should be. So whatever they say about the drama being plotless or bland or being full of holes should be taken with a grain of salt anyway. You can't truly be a good judge of a drama unless you were really paying attention with it in an unprejudiced way. And watching the whole drama helps too, lol. I find that most of the people crapping on "The Longest Promise" didn't even watch the whole drama.

Snow eagle lord wasn't perfect, but it wasn't a flop either. It's a good drama to watch for those who like action. I was able to watch to the end, so i would say it's watchable, don't listen to bad rating and find out for yourself whether it's something you like. Xukai was phenomenal as dongbo xueying, and i like his chemistry with nazha. Drama that adapt from novel always get criticize for not following novel, this is the same, also heard the production was poor cause they don't have money. Xukai deserves better, his hard work in this drama should be recognized, his action scenes were great. Hope to see him do more action dramas ❤❤❤
The issue is different from the original story, which is far superior, trust me I have seen dramas that cut the best parts and keep the worst from the novels.
Even the donghua Anime of Snow eagle lord was much better. Eastern live adaptations of novels and anime suffer the same curse as western media do, they tend to suck because they ignore the original content. I have to say the only reason people liked the live adaptation of snow eagle is because of the top stars leads. Because the adaptation was an insult to the what made the original great. If people keep mentioning the the actors names instead characters and the storyline raises a red flag. Thats why i keep away from people who says the story is great because so and so is in it.

I think "The Longest Promise" was a flop only for western audiences? I know on Reddit, for instance, the opinion about this drama is mainly negative, with most people saying they didn't even finish it. And the ratings on the MDL website for this drama isn't high. But these are given by English-speaking audiences. However, from what I can tell "The Longest Promise" did extremely well in China. So I really don't think it should be included on this "flop" list.

I didn't like the first few episodes of #TheLongestPromise because of the annoying female lead but still gave it a chance because of #XiaoZhan and his amazing acting. But I think Zhu Yan was able to redeem herself in the later episodes and I don't regret watching it until the end. I suggest you guys give it a chance as well. ❤😊
I found her really annoying at first too. Later, after the character mature a little, it was bearable. XZ was excellent, especially after he took her as his disciple. When he was hurting as they fought, I cried, he looked so vulnerable.

I really enjoyed the “The Longest Promise” and was actually pulled in to watch it because I found the FL’s performance really good and I thought her look was interesting. I’ve now seen more of her dramas and see that for her age she’s pretty good!! I had no idea who the ML was but they suited each other well and everyone did a great job!! 😊❤

I don't think it's a flop, just support all the actors and the staff because they work hard for every movies or dramas they've been filming...haters will always be there no matter you do good or not. Appreciating one's work is a good motivation for them to continue making a satisfactory project.❤❤❤
They called it flop for a reason bcoz they are traffic star.. Traffic star should excell even how ugly storyline and character they get. It flop frm public veiwers then it FLOP accept the fact that even traffic star doesn't mean the story they will get and gave are good story .
I think the longest promise didn't flop, it just lack some consistency in the plot story especially about ice clan and several episodes near the end of the story. But overall the acting and the character development were so good, love it eventhough i didnt plan to watch it at all.
I watched half of these shows The Longest Promise, Snow Eagle Lord, Legend of Anle and Love You Seven Times and I wouldn't consider them extremaly bad... There were good thing and bad things about them, but I definitely was pulled by LYST the most! I like the concept of destined lovers, that's probably why I enjoyed it so much. Costumes are amazing! Chu Kong as a demon-cat Lord is engraved in my mind.
A lot of adaptations don't meet the standards of original novel, so fans of novels already don't view the dramas the same as people who watch it without any previous informations. And as a person who haven’t read any of the novels, all of them were pretty great.
The Legend of Anle wasn't executed great in my opinion, the show felt a bit draggy for me and I admit that Gong Jun's acting wasn’t the best for me.. all the characters were interesting, but I felt like there were moments when they are a bit out of character...
Snow Eagle Lord.. I watched because of Xu Kai's amazing acting and interesting story, focused on improving already powerful person.
The Longest Promise for me is worth rewatching, because it has some great acting and costumes+effects are just gorgeous!

I thought I was the only one that felt that legend of Anle is boring, by the time I reached episode 10 I was done, and your point was right everything looked too fake to the point that even a fresher to these dramas can tell, many other female characters screamed plastic surgery, they looked uncanny and everyone was too white. On top of that Dilireba was too white for no reason and too skinny her character was unconvincing they didn't have too bleach her too much but overall everything about this drama doesn't engage you at all. And yes the longest promise didn't flop, it was a SUCCESS

Beauty of Resilience was really bad. The last two episodes were a mess. The lead female looks exactly the same in every drama I’ve seen her in. Same makeup and styling. The plot felt like a fever dream and so many holes! Characters would disappear without any follow up. Waste of time.

I am amazed that people do not understand that KDRAMAS & CDRAMAS are no longer made for one country. The future is world wide distribution. I can honestly say that I am impressed with the growth with all Asian dramas that I have chosen to watch. I honestly believe that Asian series will continue to grow in popularity as the world audiences continue to watch.
I did watch Love you seven times until the final episode. It was unsatisfying. I did drop Beauty of Resilience, Legend of Anle despite liking Dilriba as an actress.
I don't really watch anything with dilraba. She is pretty but her acting skills aren't that great.

I agree with your list. It’s sad that if they were going to spend so much money on production, they should first invest in having a great script and story. Otherwise, it’s like building a palace on sand. I am glad that you put the Longest Promise on the list. I tried watching it many times but couldn’t take it and finally just had to drop. Couldn’t get into the story. It’s like a great looking dish but tastes so bland.
Legend of Anle was more frustrating than disappointing for me.
1- They start with a original good plot and end up with a basic boring one.
2- Not only, the lead actors had zero chemistry but the female lead had a lot of chemistry with the second male lead.
3- The male lead was not so smart, not so strong, and being fair was his super power. Boring as hell.
4- Anle was the exact opposite. She was a strategist, an incredible fighter, she was fair but loyal and absolutely funny. Not only they didn't match, but it made the male lead even more boring.
5- When the female lead stops to be Anle and become Di Ziyuan, she starts being depressed like, "we can't be together now that the truth had come out." And they were BOTH boring until the end of the drama.
6- Personal opinion: I'm tired to see women give up the crown in historical drama. Everytime a male heir fight against tyranny, he takes the throne despite the wars it will cause. But everytime a female heir fight against tyranny, she only tries to take the throne if she's a vilain. The rest always say either : "I want to avoid wars so I will renounce to the throne" or when the heritage won't cause any war : "I don't like to be a ruler. I don't wanna be a queen."

Agreed "legend of Anle" had lack of chemistry and there were excessive filters. "Fireworks of my heart" had no fiery content related to the heart. "Love you seven times" was such a mundane show. No real love story to follow in any life.

I agreed with the entire list. Some I don't bother to start like Love you 7 times because I don't like the lead actress. She can't act; others I invested times and ended up dropped them like TLAL, TLP, FWOMH, SEL, etc

Sometimes we should not put all the blame to the actors in the drama... It may also due to some poor directing and poor script not good too many issues they put in it not following the main story line. I ve watched some dramas like that I also stopped watching it... Just like Diralba they give always a role that is too over powering that she even exceeded the male leads like in The Long Ballad again in The Legend of Anle... They should balance whoever is in charge so i put much on the script and directing... Sorry for this though. I watched The Long Promise too but did not finish, so with The Beauty of Resilience and
The long ballad is understandable I think. Because its main focus is the growth of Changge, so it highlights her abilities more. Not that Ashun any weaker though. 😊

@@cheesepop510 well I think it's a common to make the love story of main/first couple to be more complicated than others. But GeSun love story is indeed one of the most complicated among them 😂. Still understandable from screenwriter if they want to make it more realistic and to show us that relationship not only about rainbow and sunshine, moreover if it's happened in ancient times where communication isn't as easy as now plus different education too.

Data says LOA is the highest money minting drama. So, it’s hit and chemistry broke all records so in that part also it’s hit. Storyline was a mess but the acting of all involved was A plus so I don’t think it will be called a flop …
The longest promise broke every record it was there to break. XZ was praised for his acting and storyline was gripping too. FL was strong too.
PE still is number 1 everywhere. Some Viewers may feel bored but I loved and enjoyed.

I think this channel considers it a "flop" because a lot of people on the ENGLISH-SPEAKING internet said they dropped the drama due to irritation with the female lead. But yeah, I don't think this drama is in any way a flop. I loved it. And it did extremely well in China.

I am still watching “The Longest Promise”. So far I like it and I love Xiao Zhan he is also my favorite actor, he’s an amazing actor. But the female character doesn’t really interest me much, I mean she is ok. I believe Zhao Lusi or Bai Lu will go well for this character, I would love it more with Zhao Lusi or Bai Lu ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ to me it’s not a flop. It’s not the best if compare to “ The Untamed”. But it still a very good a drama. I still on part 15 will continue to watch it.

I love watching Zhao Lusi but I can't get into Hidden Love drama. I tried but I couldn't. The Legend of Anle was good. I love it a lot. Simon Gong is perfect as the crown prince. Dilraba as Anle is good. The ending is beautiful. They lived happily ever after. I hate cliffhangers & tragic endings. Remember, dramas are entertainment, not a punishment.
Fortunately, Hidden Love wasn't flopped. It was popular nationally and internationally.
The legend of Anle, after three month airing. Now is number 1, in Youku... I think this drama Will explode, if there is not much had cut by the director and producer. Especially for the role of Anle and Hanye. Even without Kiss scene, this drama would be explode. As we know to day, Dilreba still had gain popularity in China main land and internasional.
And Gongjun to, nowadays he get popularity, and especially more famous in internasional fans.

But at least she doesn't look so fake and forced when she cries, and she is powerful in emotional scenes. I became her fan after watching the long ballad. In LLTG, she was nominated as the best actress at Seoul International and Macau International because of her acting. And received an award from South Korea for the actress who has the best chemistry with all her co-actors. She is still young. Hope she will improve in the future. Sorry for my grammar😊

Im watching The Longest Promise at the moment...and Im loving the drama really.... I also love the FL....I really think Ren Min is cute...The issue with her was esp. from netizens in China, they dont think shes pretty enough to be in a costume drama as FL and worse co- staring with Xiao Zhan and teased saying her nose is too big....😅....ngl...some comments was funny as hell....but for the extreme hate against her I dont agree nor tolerate. i don't know about the rest but i do agree legend of anle didn't make that much of noises, considering both male and female lead are famous. in fact, i found out about the drama while searching for dilreba while wondering whether she was on long rest or not, because i didn't heard about her work this year.

Menurut gw ini jga perlu menjadi pembelajaran oleh masing2 platform. Hanya karena list artist diatas adalah list top artis sampai drama2 tersebut di simpan cukup lama. Dianggap sebagai senjata cadangan yg ampuh. Seperti Legend of Anle & Longest Promise. Padahal secara CGI dll sudah cukup kalah jauh dengan drama yg baru saja syuting dan segera di rilis. Juga karena disimpan cukup lama eksepektasi orang2 akan drama diatas lebih bagus dripada drama yg dbintangi artis biasa. Nyatanya tidak 🥲. Dan jga saya tidak bisa hype drama2 diatas karena saya masih tidak bisa moveon dari TTEOTM 🔥.
I kind of agree with you about all these dramas. I watched at least most of them till the end and did not drop any of the ones I started watching, but I felt like these actors and actresses are some of the best in the Chinese industry, but the dramas were not their best works overall.
For example, in Legend of Anle, I felt like Dilraba and Gong Jun didn't have the hype to act together. Ren Min is such a young actress, and having her act in such a drama is a waste of the script. I have watched some of her dramas, and she is very good at modern ones.
I don't care about the other dramas, but I really enjoyed "The Longest Promise". Maybe the FL wasn't perfect, but she wasn't bad either. I know it's not possible, but I would love a second season with the same cast (including the FL).

The longest Promise had everything to be good but a good female lead (what a annoying woman...NOOOOO), and the end was disappointing. The male lead saved the experience but I wouldn't watch again.
Beauty of resilience became unbearable after the egg; what was that, why? Couldn't that woman just have a normal pregnancy? Ridiculous! I finished it but I don't even remember how it ended.

1st, I always make my own choices on what I watch now in Chinese series and don't care one bit what a bunch of rabid Chinese netizen fans say. Found out I missed more then a few great series I like by listening to them and other's opinions back 4 years ago. Watched them later and liked or loved the series. I ALSO don't care anymore what the novels have in them as I want to enjoy what is on film, not spend time comparing it and criticizing it the whole way through it..
I though Love You Seven Times was a nice series but I never expected it to be a smash hit either

Why isn’t till the Tilll the end of the Moon here. It was the biggest disappointment ever. Luo Yunxi carried that drama so hard he died at the end ( reasons that made no sense). Some of the side characters helped as they were great with what little was given to them. Bailu was just awful and did nothing with her lacking facial expressions and whatever is going on with her teeth. This drama was supposed to be the highest quality yet by episode 15 nothing made sense, terrible editing, deleted scenes, unnecessary blood splatter that it was almost comical, characters who were completely forgotten with their plot left hanging etc. I get they had to cut 10 episodes but they could have a done a better job for such a high budget drama.
Bailu did a great job in tteom. U must he blind. What does her teeth go anything to do with her acting? Luo yunxi has been bodyshamed and faceshamed throughout the drama. U are insane😊

Только невежественные зрители смотрели на внешность актрисы, надо смотреть на игру актеров и тогда все будет в порядке. И если вспомнить все работы Сяо Чжаня, то зрителям никогда не нравились актрисы, с которыми работал Сяо Чжань. Помню С Ян Цзы была такая же ситуация))
