The comments about just how easy it is to paint Old World models now are spot on. At my local gaming groups paint night tonight, I was grinding away at some lovely modern sculpts. After a couple hours, my eyes were starting to go crossed. So I pulled out some Bretonnian peasant archers and some speed paints. I went from about ready to go brushes down, all the way to taking ten of them right from primed to finished basing. Modern paints and classic sculpts are a match made in heaven. Going back to 2000 points has certainly helped to reduce army fatigue. P.S. We may be in the modern era of warhammer, but those bases got goblin green rims put on
@@TheDwellersBelow It is countered by the fact that the resistance to crumbling it used to provide is now somewhat negated that you pick the highest between indomnitable vs. the D3 from the BSB (for TKs at least). So your blocks of TG for example may spike a 3 on the D3, otherwise they're just getting their basic 1. sad times
Welcome to the 3d print and slap chop show haha. Fantastic show gents. I feel I'm edging much closer to wanting to try the game than I previously was which is great. I still have a few concerns but we'll see what I think after having played a couple of games.
4x4 table might be too small for the newer base sizes- 2k points means less tabletop taken up by bases as well. I feel like if you stick to 2k points on a 6x4, there will be little problem with space to maneuver. maybe the rationale down to ~2k points probably related to no step up rule, less attacks in general, the lower points might keep it less grindy, particularly with the new rules that can knock you out of combat with the "fall back in good order" or whatever its called. supposedly this game was playtested quite a bit. also limiting the models needs for full games might be a way to make the game look less intimidating/less of a commitment for new players or older players that want to build a new army.
Beginning to have doubts over how much it was playtested given the weird situations and inconsistencies that pop up a lot. But it wouldn't be a warhammer game without that stuff 🤣
Well that was fun. 2000pts I think is good, for the reasons you all laid out. I would add that lower points tend to lead to a less congested table, model wise. Opens flanks up. Which may makes for a more dynamic game. If you were to increase the points you could go 2000pts + 100pts for core or special only. If, you are concerned about the "extra's" next bracket of 1-1000pts give armies, but that's something for further down the track. Is it a better game, safe to say, we'll know by Cancon 2025. Do I think it's abetter game, "who cares", well $cr@w you. I'm with Dave, over 8th Ed and looking forward to something fresh. As Nick said, I'm just glad it's back.
yes multiple wizards may cast the same spell. But some spells cannot be cast on the same unit and some spells do not last into the other players turn anymore. Some spells cancel the effects of other spells. Read the spell description very carefully. All spells are chosen randomly but may be swapped for the signature spell of the lore chosen.@@TheDwellersBelow

Yeah it is a totally different world now! But Goblin Green will never die
I like how Nick didn't bother to orient the camera's to the directions that Jabe called out. 10/10 editting
Hah, Nick has had no power for a week so that's squarely on Dave
The new base sizes allow better modelling opportunities.
Absolutely!
Undead have a special version of hold your ground, so they can reroll all leadership tests including command tests.
Yeah how weird is it that the undead bsb is one of the best ones for once!

Yeah still plenty to learn and even more to adjust to. Keen to see you at an event and hopefully get a game again Spoon
Aside from a few doomer youtubers and few redditors, the game seems to be very much booming and alive.
Normally we are the doomer tubers!
We should be playing 1999 so you have to pick between a lvl 4 wizard and a lord on dragon
It’s not the number of points built it’s the army composition size
…. The old argument
I don't think this helps with all armies unfortunately. Keen to stick with 2k for a bit and see how it shakes out
BSB for undead though has replacement rules, and can be used to re-roll any leadership check, including Command abilities
Thanks Ranjith that's a great point.
assailment spells also trigger killing blow ;)
Was thinking that might be the case but hadn't looked it up, presumably only if you have the rule native rather than from a weapon?

I've been playing 2500 with my kids. Mostly cause we all love big stompy monsters, and it's easier to get more in :p
Yeah there is definitely an attraction to that. Let's mix it up!

Great points Nasher. I think 2k is a good points level but not adverse to events changing it up.
Warhammer was always the title
Can you cast the same spell multiple times?
Nothing we've seen says you can't. Obviously can't have it on the same wizard
