Hey guy's . Here In the UK always great when a new Badgerland video pops up. Fabulous channel. Definitely the best birders channel. Thanks From the UK.
Quite an interesting array of habitats! When you said "this area is a desert" - for a second I was VERY dubious, since I grew up in western Texas and that region looks awfully green to me!!! But I saw the cactus, and understood the kind of desert you meant. For some reason I thought Wisconsin was all forest - no idea why, it's right on the Plains, after all. Very cool birds! Grats on getting that vireo!
Ryan you Chris and Colette had some outstanding Birds that was a Warbler day for you , the sighting's of the Cerulean Warblers I think that was the best .
Too bad you missed the Blue Grosbeak! I am fortunate to have a lot of them around my house. I wasn’t able to participate in Global Twitch Day because I was traveling, but it sounds like fun! I enjoy looking for rare birds even if I don’t find them.
I camped for a weekend at Wyalusing last summer in an attempt to find YTWA and KEWA. I found YTWA pretty easily the first morning but I really frustratingly never saw Kentucky. I heard them constantly pretty much the entire weekend but never ended up seeing a single one. Really frustrating. I'm still missing this species in Wisconsin (and the ABA area for that matter, I've only seen them in Costa Rica).
My global twitch day report: went looking for tricolored heron, neotropic cormorant and lark sparrow in upstate NY. The heron was standing right out in the open at a pond, a great start. I did not manage to get the other two - seems i was too early for the cormorant and too late for the sparrow. Both were seen by others that day, ah well. I did end up finally seeing the cormorant on a subsequent trip the other day, though!
Two weeks ago I saw an Eurasian Tree Sparrow for the first time. I’ve been birding for twenty years and this was my first! For those not familiar, they are only located in and around the St. Louis area. Most of that twenty years, I lived right around St. Louis and never saw one. Recently I moved to Central Illinois (which is on the edge of their known range) and that’s where I saw it-twice, a few hours apart. Very exhilarating!
Yeah, if you’re sure that that’s what it was. For my life list, I try not to count heard only birds, but for some species it’s hard to get visual sightings.
When the birds, even more common ones, come to where you are and sing, thats a good bird outing.
For sure!
Those Cerulean Warblers at eye level -breathtaking ❤❤❤
Absolutely!
For sure. I've never seen one so I hope to do so this year.
Congratulations on finding some rare birds on Global Twitch Day!
Thanks, Nathan!
I see that Magee marsh BTBW sweatshirt! Thanks for another great video!
👍👍💪💪

We were super surprised to learn we had a desert when we started birding!
That's crazy to see the ceruleans so low

Cerulean Warblers are one of my favourites!!! ❤❤❤

They can be really hard to see there! We’ve had that same experience before
Twitch day!! Rad!

That’s an awesome bird to find in the US. They’ve moved further into WI recently too
I remember seeing a Kentucky warbler in New York
Such a cool warb
I twitched a singing Bicknell’s Thrush in Central Park, New York City on May 18th!
Still need that one for the life list!
Boom, Twitched. Best intro yet.
Thank you for your videos!
You’re welcome!
Im love your channel. I'd love you to to a live stream.
Like a Q and A style?
Interesante cantidad de especies, algunas están donde vivo, otras solo vistas en libros, guías y algún video de canal amigos
Gracias!
When you hear a bird’s call, but you’re unable to actually see it, do you still consider that a sighting?
Yeah, if you’re sure that that’s what it was. For my life list, I try not to count heard only birds, but for some species it’s hard to get visual sightings.
Is the Cerulean the most beautiful warbler? I think yes.
When you see the top of it, it’s hard to beat
