The song is actually kind of smart, the beat is all happy and upbeat because it's supposed to show how people cover suicidal thoughts. They look happy...but really they've been trying to kill themselves. Pretty much not to judge people just because they might look happy, or sound happy.

Indeed. When I was at the bottom of my depression, I had only one friend who stayed with me until I got better, he said that I wasn't able to smile with my eyes anymore.
As a guy dealing with depression for as long as I can remember, this is how it feels. You try to put a brave facade, smile at people. But inside, you're just all dead. I love this song because it's relatable. It's nice.
Exactly. We put on a brave face, a fake smile, and pretend we're alright, but we're not okay. We're suffering but no one can see it. We are the greatest actors, we put on an act and everyone (who isn't suffering or hasn't suffered with depression/ thoughts/actions of suicide) believes us, they don't see through the mask.
the worst part is you know you're acting. dozens of interactions with people in a day where you give a smile, a little joke, some conversation and then when it's over your smile is gone within a minute and you're kicking yourself again. I shouldnt have said this or that, why'd I do that? etc. you feel like an imposter.
All those things fit me, but i still dont want to end myself, i dunno if its a form of depression, but i wanna keep going. Theres always something that can happen. And i hope none of you either end it.
I know for a fact if you act out, you’ll end up looking manipulative and make people feel like you want them to bow down to you. My friends say that, so I can never really express my emotions to them. I just have to look happy to them now, I have to lie again and again…
Welcome to depression. We put a front on that everything is fine and jolly. Meanwhile the inside we’re wanting to do everything in our power to take the pain away.
But, this song puts a happy spin on those thoughts with the upbeat tune. Maybe it's just me, but I feel happy while listening to this song. That's what depression lacks; a happy feeling. The thoughts are one thing, but the low feeling is the REAL gut-punch. THAT is what gets you. This song kicks that feeling out and gives you a cheerful one. It's hella f*cked up, but it's just what the doctor ordered.
As much as I love Bullet (One of my favourite songs by them), it's not really a good starting song for the band, you don't really hear their "sound" with it, I'd suggest reacting to other songs, maybe something like "Dead Bite" or "Usual Suspects"
Your face when the kid starts singing at the end!! LOL I love this song, so catchy even with the dark-ass lyrics. Hollywood Undead is catchy no matter what!
As someone with severe depression when I was younger and struggled with s*lf h*rm I always blasted this music in my earbuds and people nearby would only be able to hear the beat so they thought I woud be listening to happy music. I gotta say, this song helped me through a lot
Bro that “I didn’t know, cuz you didn’t say, now momma feels guilt now momma feels pain line” genuinely gets me on the brink of tears every time. Imagine your mom thinking she’s at fault because you couldn’t open up.
Hollywood Undead - Young, Undead, Dead Bite, What ever it takes, Day of the Dead, California Dreaming, We are.. All much better representations of this band. I feel like Young and What ever it takes have the best message through their lyrics of the ones I mentioned.
Hollywood Undead is a band a loved in high school, but for a metal reaction as posted previously "Undead" is great, or of you want something a little more catchy "Every Where I Go". Please do a reaction video for HellYeah. Any of their songs, they are all fantastic.
Not sure the actual point they were trying to make with this song, maybe a suicide awareness type thing, but the point behind the way it was written was to sound like Jason Mraz while covering a serious topic. Also the little girl's voice at the end is Johnny 3 Tears' daughter. I love this song. It's so upbeat and incredibly cathartic when I'm feeling depressed.
MrEternalwrath The song is happy go lucky because I assume it’s supposed to represent what you show others while the lyrics show how you actually feel. The happy sound to it would be you having a ‘good time’ with family & friends while lyrics are what you’d be feeling on the inside.
I have every word memorized to that song. I had it playing to one of my attempts. You have to pretend to be happy so you don't hurt others or let them see you hurting...
This song really helped me in high school. I had been battling depression for years and no one even noticed because I was still a happy, upbeat person.
Someone who used to struggle with depression here, I can confirm it’s true. You want happiness, but at the same time you don’t think you deserve it, it’s a weird thing to explain.

@@jakubport7361 not really softer more like emotional. It was written to portray someone who has depression. The music is happy go lucky while the lyrics are darker which represents that someone who has depression can seem so happy on the outside but can have many negative emotions and thoughts on the inside.
This song encapsulates how dealing with suicidal thoughs, tendincies and attempts is... On the surface you have to be happy and smiling, but alone you carve into your arm more...
When you think about it, this is actually a lyrical musical masterpiece. A lot of people are inspired by what a song makes you feel. This one puts all senses on the edge and leaves you confused AF. Also, a year after that, a friend of mine had just learned about this song and he was listening to it through headphones,I heard a few seconds of it so i started singing along without hearing anything. He was pretty surprised about that
Hollywood Undead was one of my older sister’s favorite bands when we were a bit younger (she was like 14) and being the little sister i was, i liked anything she liked. So little 10 year old me literally went around the house singing this fucking song thinking nothing of it.. WHY DID NO ONE STOP ME?!
Hollywood Undead: Undead. That's a better song by them. You'll like it. It's a lot more rap, and it's really heavy. It still has some really heavy lyrics, but they're more relatable. The lyrics are more about not letting people talk shit about you, and not giving a shit when people try to bring you down. You work hard for what you have and deserve respect and success and you need to piss on the haters. Kind of like Alex Hefner's message.. Hmm.
I relate to this so much... The "smiling depression", pretending everything's ok, while deep down you feel as if you're already dead, and planning your exit. 😪

I’d definitely recommend theses Manson songs... 1- *the reflecting god* 2- Disposable teens 3- The Speed of Pain 4- I Want To Disappear 5- Rock is Dead 6- Posthuman 7- President dead They’re not in any order, but they have amazing lyrics, especially the reflecting god..
Just like you did with Deftones when people weren't happy with your first song choice, you absolutely need to do another song immediately to understand what this band is actually all about. I don't usually criticize your choice of songs, but this doesn't represent Hollywood Undead's "norm" at all. Basically I'm saying that it has a message, but the song itself is stupid and strays from the content they usually produce. I'd suggest either Undead or Been to Hell as a revisit
Alex, i've been watching your videos for several months but rarely comment. I've been a metalhead for years and love seeing your raw reactions to some of my favorite metal songs. Hollywood Undead holds a very special place for me, they helped me through a lot of hard times in my life. This isn't a great first impression song of them. I implore you to do a reaction on something from the album "Swan Songs". Please listen to Undead, or Young, or Black Dahlia and you can get a better understanding of why this band has been able to truelly help so many people like me. Sometimes when you don't know what youre feeling you just wanna listen to something angry, but with a message you can relate to. I personally know a lot of people that have been helped by Hollywood Undead and im really happy to see you dip your toe in, but i really think you qould appreciate digging deeper. I really live all the vids, keep it coming man. :)
Steven Nix, I didn't know that Hollywood Undead also had an album titled 'Swan Songs'! I've been enjoying a German band called Lord of the Lost who also have an album called "Swan Songs" & "Swan Songs II"! Wow, the things you learn in the comments section! Are you familiar with the meaning of the phrase 'Swan Songs' {Cigna Carmen, L.}? Swans only sing just before they die. Rock on & thank you for your informative comment!
My best friend introduced me to this band with their song Dead Bite in highschool and I was hooked This was the second or fourth song he showed me and when he said "its a happy suicide song" I was confused and replied "how the hell does that work" then after listening to it I was like "oh... I see what you mean"
now I'm a huge fan of Hollywood Undead and I have a lot of there songs on my phone including this song, I myself have been living with suicidal thought for many years and I listened to this song because it helped a lot in a way it showed me that I don't always have to put on a happy mask it showed me I wasn't alone. This song and this band helped through some rough shit that I have through in the past 10 years, however, I can say this is not a band for children so XD.
I think the point is to have a song that people can relate to while making them happy from the tune. Suicide only happens when you hit a low point, but they take that low point and make it happy. Therefore, no suicide. You feel good, but you know you're not supposed to. Then, it doesn't matter because you just feel better. This song is genius.
I genuinely love this song so much for the exact reason that it's catchy, and the lyrics are depressing. It makes me happy. This isn't the norm for Hollywood undead for sure, but I remember it being a favorite of mine from the day it released.
Humanoid25 if you like undead then check out more stuff like been to hell and dead bite but really anything by them. They have 5 albums and I bet you’ll love them. Undead is from their first album so they do change a lot
One of many of my favorite songs, kind of the same point he made at 3:10 i love it, but i shouldn't love it. The beat is awesome, and i've experienced some depression myself, so this song really lightens my mood, love listening to this while singing at the top of my voice with this song.
One of my best memories was at a Hollywood undead show. When they played this song everyone in the pit just started doing their own little jig/ dance, and this young girl (probably 13) who had been petrified of the mosh the whole show comes up to me and grabs me by the hands and we start jumping and spinning and i swear the smile on her face could not get any bigger. Her mom ended up telling me later she has crippilimg social anxiety but worked up the courage to come see her favorite band live and was rejoiced to know that someone at that show was so okay with just dancing with her made it the best night she ever had. It still warms my heart to this day
Dude somebody trolled you. There are songs by Hollywood Undead that I swear you would love but this isn't one for new people. Try "this love this hate" or "young". When you gonna do chiodos? Been asking forever.
SogySeal This Love, This Hate is probably my favorite HU song. Just out of curiosity what’s your opinion on Chiodos’s Illuminaudio album with Brandon Bolmer on Vocals?
Hollywood Undead is like a rabbit hole, I have been listening to so many songs of them like: "Day Of The Dead", "Time Bomb", "Coming Home", "I Don't Wanna Die", "S.C.A.V.A.", "Been To Hell" and all are amazing. It is the mixture of metal and rap that does it for me.
What a fucking weird choice to begin listening to HU haha... There are definitely better representations of the band and their lyrics and music style, but at least you're on your way :P
My reaction was the same. I listened to this when i was 12 and didn't know English quite well. Listened to it again when im 18 and know English better, it sums up my thoughts when i was 15/16
Bullet is a really good song and I'm glad you did it for the message. But for a feel of Hollywood Undead's usual sound please watch City or Undead. Pour Me is our favourite. Bullet is from "new" HU, after their lead writer and singer, Deuce, left. The three I mentioned were with Deuce.
YES!! please help me spam protest the hero! I've been asking for a life embossed or C'est la vie for months. I think since he's a new dog owner A life embossed will really speak to him. The lyric video for that song is dope. Bloodmeat also way up there on my list of favs!
It's kind of like "Down by the River" by Albert Hammond, which sounds so happy but is actually about pollution and illness that comes with it! the contrast is what makes it so good and catching!
This is pretty much my highschool song. Back then, my mates, and I would hang out in the textiles room, and listen to this everyday, through yr 8 to yr 11. Those were good times
this song has saved my life many times ive sat been unbelievably depressed staring at a bottle of vodka and my old antidepressants in a dark room with only youtube on xbox lighting the room listening to songs and when im about to hit rock bottom this song will come on and it will help me feel everything ive been trying to feel in that moment as well as lift my mood and spirits high enough to fight a few more days you need the upbeat tempo with the depressing lyrics to counteract each other the lyrics saying everything you want to while the music lifts you puts its arm around you and urges you to carry on to keep trying that it will all be fine eventually there song lion has a similar vibe just about a different topic
im 14 and have been trying to end my life since i was 10. i am inlove with this song, i managed to explain my depression to my mum through this song. Your reaction to this song was the best one ive ever seen, so thank you so much for not thinking that people who go through suicidal thoughts are just happy go lucky who can just change randomly. You earned a Sub. Thank you again. kittenxox

Hooooooo!!! This video had me screeching when I saw it on my page! I'm a HUGE Hollywood Undead fan and this makes SO HAPPY! Not only because Bullet is one of my favourite songs. It's helped me get through some of my toughest time. Sorry, not the point I'm trying to make right now. Hollywood Undead has a huge range of sound to their songs! Seriously like from rap to rock to metal to even some chill kinda pop (but not) shit like this. The band has evolved so much since they got a new singer and I have so many recommendations!!! I'm practically buzzing with excitement, Please PLEASE do more from them! You won't regret it! It's not all like this, they have some heavy topics but they also have some pretty banging party anthems. Like HU has you covered for whatever your musical needs might be!

Hollywood Undead is by far one of my favorite bands. You should check out their song We are, or gotta let go, 2 amazing songs.
IndieTimmie We Are and Day of the Dead are my favorites by Hollywood Undead
@@elriccase1069 your life and young for me.
Dark places is better than all
Whoa! We all like different songs from the same band =) It just goes to show you the great variety of Hollywood Undead !!
Hollywood Undead songs you HAVE to hear: Hear Me Now, Undead, Coming Back Down, Pour Me, No. 5, Everywhere I Go, Young.
Best suggestion list I’ve seen so far
I’d definitely recommend theses Manson songs...
1- *the reflecting god*
2- Disposable teens
3- The Speed of Pain
4- I Want To Disappear
5- Rock is Dead
6- Posthuman
7- President dead
They’re not in any order, but they have amazing lyrics, especially the reflecting god..
Been to Hell is a dope ass choice
I’d say levitate is a good choice as well.
I like levitate, but not as much
Why is the song stupid?...
Does Hollywood Undead even have a "norm"?? With songs like War Child, Been to Hell, Sing, Scene for Dummies, Gotta Let Go ..... I'm not sure any more.
Foo Fighters - The Pretender
I have always called it the 'happy suicide song' and honestly is one of my HU favs
You can't make a song both catchy and morbid.
Hollywood Undead: HOLD OUR BEERS!
Your poochy looks like Scooby and it makes me love him even more lol
Ness Liz scrappy doo lookin ass 😂
Alex Hefner 😂 naaaah, definitely has more scooby, just size like scrappy lmao
Have you even watched Scooby Doo?
As i lay dying the sound of truth!
YES
My best friend introduced me to this band with their song Dead Bite in highschool and I was hooked
This was the second or fourth song he showed me and when he said "its a happy suicide song" I was confused and replied "how the hell does that work" then after listening to it I was like "oh...
Undead is the only Hollywood Undead song I know and it freaking kicks ass
Humanoid25 if you like undead then check out more stuff like been to hell and dead bite but really anything by them. They have 5 albums and I bet you’ll love them. Undead is from their first album so they do change a lot
One of many of my favorite songs, kind of the same point he made at 3:10 i love it, but i shouldn't love it. The beat is awesome, and i've experienced some depression myself, so this song really lightens my mood, love listening to this while singing at the top of my voice with this song.
Everytime I hear Johnny3Tears say
".... you dont what happened to that kid you raised or what happened to that father who swore he'd stay"
gets me
One of my best memories was at a Hollywood undead show. It still warms my heart to this day
NIGHTWISH GHOST LOVE SCORE LIVE AT WACKEN.
We've been requesting it for so long haha
Dude somebody trolled you. There are songs by Hollywood Undead that I swear you would love but this isn't one for new people. Try "this love this hate" or "young". When you gonna do chiodos? Been asking forever.
SogySeal This Love, This Hate is probably my favorite HU song. Just out of curiosity what’s your opinion on Chiodos’s Illuminaudio album with Brandon Bolmer on Vocals?
@@samkutz9090 I think like most I prefer Craig Owen's.
SogySeal I like Craig’s voice better but I personally like the songs in illuminaudio more. I was just wondering.
@@samkutz9090 what's your all time favorite hands down Chiodos song?
SogySeal Probably Those Who Slay Together, Stay Together. Second is Stratovolcano Mouth and then Baby, You Wouldn’t Last A Minute On The Creek.
Nightwish - Ghost Love Score (Official Live)
Hollywood Undead is like a rabbit hole, I have been listening to so many songs of them like: "Day Of The Dead", "Time Bomb", "Coming Home", "I Don't Wanna Die", "S.C.A.V.A.", "Been To Hell" and all are amazing. It is the mixture of metal and rap that does it for me.
Alex: Tell everyone what we are reacting to today!!~
The Dog: Depression... 🎉
Make Them Suffer - Ether
every other song of them :)
@@frederickkorth1481 Can't go straight into stuff like weeping wastelands tho
ye true... just not a fan of either, would still prefer let me in or old souls to get started
What a fucking weird choice to begin listening to HU haha... There are definitely better representations of the band and their lyrics and music style, but at least you're on your way :P
City is easily their best song. Should have started with almost anything off Swan Songs though.
My reaction was the same. I listened to this when i was 12 and didn't know English quite well. Listened to it again when im 18 and know English better, it sums up my thoughts when i was 15/16
"I feel like I shouldn't like it, but I do" thats Hollywood Undead for you
City, California Dreaming and Undead - Hollywood Undead
Linkin Park - Given Up
Justin Morey hell yes!! I want to see his reaction on that long scream! 👊🏽
@@lost_traveler1130 Ikr
Child of burning time-Slipknot
Most underrated slipknot song imo
2:00 Inside of Alex's head he's like "Damnit im not gonna make any money off of this now"
Bullet is a really good song and I'm glad you did it for the message. But for a feel of Hollywood Undead's usual sound please watch City or Undead.
Pour Me is our favourite.
Bullet is from "new" HU, after their lead writer and singer, Deuce, left. The three I mentioned were with Deuce.
Protest the Hero - Bloodmeat
YES!! please help me spam protest the hero! I've been asking for a life embossed or C'est la vie for months. I think since he's a new dog owner A life embossed will really speak to him. The lyric video for that song is dope. Bloodmeat also way up there on my list of favs!
Bloodmeat is great, Sequoia Throne is the top!
BROJOB - TEENIE WEENIE please everyone like so alex can see this will be hella fun
"I just pissed on myself"
up you go
React Hollywood Undead Undead or paradise Lost
Paradise Lost, my man yes.
It's kind of like "Down by the River" by Albert Hammond, which sounds so happy but is actually about pollution and illness that comes with it!
the contrast is what makes it so good and catching!
Hollywood undead everywhere i go. Is probably one of thos3 songs when it comes on everyone's singing it
Steve Vai - For The Love of God live with the Holland Metropole Orchestra
I'm more scarred than my wrist
Best line 😍
No pity for a coward by suicide silence!!
Or the rings of Saturn cover
I've been pushing Rings of Saturn for months now, but if you're going to do a cover song you should listen to the original first
Yes
This is pretty much my highschool song. Back then, my mates, and I would hang out in the textiles room, and listen to this everyday, through yr 8 to yr 11. Those were good times
I love playing the instrumental version of Bullet and then playing the lyrics after they hear how happy it sounds.
I was listening to this song when i got the call my oldest friend killed himself.
Metallica - The Unforgiven
Nightwish - Ghost Love Score
Children of Bodom - Kissing the Shadows or Everytime I Die
Wintersun - Sons of Winter and Star
Haahaaha this is one f#cked up song. That's how you are supposed to react. Lol
Haunting History super strange!
Metallica has one that will also make you go WTF!? It's called So What. You're comments will explode on that one. lol
It's supposed to be weird. It's supposed to be incredibly depressing with a happy beat. That's what it's like.
this song has saved my life many times ive sat been unbelievably depressed staring at a bottle of vodka and my old antidepressants in a dark room with only youtube on xbox lighting the room listening to songs and when im about to hit rock bottom this song will come on and it will help me feel everything ive been trying to feel in that moment as well as lift my mood and spirits high enough to fight a few more days you need the upbeat tempo with the depressing lyrics to counteract each other the lyrics saying everything you want to while the music lifts you puts its arm around you and urges you to carry on to keep trying that it will all be fine eventually there song lion has a similar vibe just about a different topic
im 14 and have been trying to end my life since i was 10. i am inlove with this song, i managed to explain my depression to my mum through this song. Your reaction to this song was the best one ive ever seen, so thank you so much for not thinking that people who go through suicidal thoughts are just happy go lucky who can just change randomly. You earned a Sub. Thank you again.
kittenxox
Damn bro you spent too much time on the internet
Alex, I think you should react to some Hellyeah! Just to have a throwback to some Vinnie Paul!
I suggested a couple of their songs
patrick perry honestly anything from waging war and thank you to the entire x album. Everything they have put out no matter what style it's in is phenomenal. RIP Dime and Vinnie! I honestly hope they dont try to replace VP.
August Burns Red - Ghosts
Sometimes there's a relief in knowing that everything will end soon. I think that's what the happy tune this song was about.
