The song is actually kind of smart, the beat is all happy and upbeat because it's supposed to show how people cover suicidal thoughts. They look happy...but really they've been trying to kill themselves. Pretty much not to judge people just because they might look happy, or sound happy.
As one who has had a few suicide attempts .. You are very much true.. (in my experience, the best way to see how people REALLY are thinking.. Is look them in their eyes.. You can fake a lot of things, but fake your eyes/your "look".. THAT is next to impossible ..
Indeed. When I was at the bottom of my depression, I had only one friend who stayed with me until I got better, he said that I wasn't able to smile with my eyes anymore.
As a guy dealing with depression for as long as I can remember, this is how it feels. You try to put a brave facade, smile at people. But inside, you're just all dead. I love this song because it's relatable. It's nice.
Exactly. We put on a brave face, a fake smile, and pretend we're alright, but we're not okay. We're suffering but no one can see it. We are the greatest actors, we put on an act and everyone (who isn't suffering or hasn't suffered with depression/ thoughts/actions of suicide) believes us, they don't see through the mask.
the worst part is you know you're acting. dozens of interactions with people in a day where you give a smile, a little joke, some conversation and then when it's over your smile is gone within a minute and you're kicking yourself again. I shouldnt have said this or that, why'd I do that? etc. you feel like an imposter.
All those things fit me, but i still dont want to end myself, i dunno if its a form of depression, but i wanna keep going. Theres always something that can happen. And i hope none of you either end it.
I know for a fact if you act out, you’ll end up looking manipulative and make people feel like you want them to bow down to you. My friends say that, so I can never really express my emotions to them. I just have to look happy to them now, I have to lie again and again…
Welcome to depression. We put a front on that everything is fine and jolly. Meanwhile the inside we’re wanting to do everything in our power to take the pain away.
But, this song puts a happy spin on those thoughts with the upbeat tune. Maybe it's just me, but I feel happy while listening to this song. That's what depression lacks; a happy feeling. The thoughts are one thing, but the low feeling is the REAL gut-punch. THAT is what gets you. This song kicks that feeling out and gives you a cheerful one. It's hella f*cked up, but it's just what the doctor ordered.
Hollywood Undead - Young, Undead, Dead Bite, What ever it takes, Day of the Dead, California Dreaming, We are.. All much better representations of this band. I feel like Young and What ever it takes have the best message through their lyrics of the ones I mentioned.
Hollywood Undead is a band a loved in high school, but for a metal reaction as posted previously "Undead" is great, or of you want something a little more catchy "Every Where I Go". Please do a reaction video for HellYeah. Any of their songs, they are all fantastic.
I have every word memorized to that song. I had it playing to one of my attempts. You have to pretend to be happy so you don't hurt others or let them see you hurting...
This song really helped me in high school. I had been battling depression for years and no one even noticed because I was still a happy, upbeat person.
Not sure the actual point they were trying to make with this song, maybe a suicide awareness type thing, but the point behind the way it was written was to sound like Jason Mraz while covering a serious topic. Also the little girl's voice at the end is Johnny 3 Tears' daughter. I love this song. It's so upbeat and incredibly cathartic when I'm feeling depressed.
MrEternalwrath The song is happy go lucky because I assume it’s supposed to represent what you show others while the lyrics show how you actually feel. The happy sound to it would be you having a ‘good time’ with family & friends while lyrics are what you’d be feeling on the inside.
Hollywood Undead was one of my older sister’s favorite bands when we were a bit younger (she was like 14) and being the little sister i was, i liked anything she liked. So little 10 year old me literally went around the house singing this fucking song thinking nothing of it.. WHY DID NO ONE STOP ME?!
I relate to this so much... The "smiling depression", pretending everything's ok, while deep down you feel as if you're already dead, and planning your exit. 😪

I see what you mean"
Alex, i've been watching your videos for several months but rarely comment. I've been a metalhead for years and love seeing your raw reactions to some of my favorite metal songs. Hollywood Undead holds a very special place for me, they helped me through a lot of hard times in my life. This isn't a great first impression song of them. I implore you to do a reaction on something from the album "Swan Songs". Please listen to Undead, or Young, or Black Dahlia and you can get a better understanding of why this band has been able to truelly help so many people like me. Sometimes when you don't know what youre feeling you just wanna listen to something angry, but with a message you can relate to. I personally know a lot of people that have been helped by Hollywood Undead and im really happy to see you dip your toe in, but i really think you qould appreciate digging deeper. I really live all the vids, keep it coming man. :)
Steven Nix, I didn't know that Hollywood Undead also had an album titled 'Swan Songs'! I've been enjoying a German band called Lord of the Lost who also have an album called "Swan Songs" & "Swan Songs II"! Wow, the things you learn in the comments section! Are you familiar with the meaning of the phrase 'Swan Songs' {Cigna Carmen, L.}? Swans only sing just before they die. Rock on & thank you for your informative comment!
I genuinely love this song so much for the exact reason that it's catchy, and the lyrics are depressing. It makes me happy. This isn't the norm for Hollywood undead for sure, but I remember it being a favorite of mine from the day it released.
As someone who deals with severe depression and has wanted to die for so long this song numbed me until the little kid started singing then it broke me.
I think the point is to have a song that people can relate to while making them happy from the tune. Suicide only happens when you hit a low point, but they take that low point and make it happy. Therefore, no suicide. You feel good, but you know you're not supposed to. Then, it doesn't matter because you just feel better. This song is genius.
Dude somebody trolled you. There are songs by Hollywood Undead that I swear you would love but this isn't one for new people. Try "this love this hate" or "young". When you gonna do chiodos? Been asking forever.
SogySeal This Love, This Hate is probably my favorite HU song. Just out of curiosity what’s your opinion on Chiodos’s Illuminaudio album with Brandon Bolmer on Vocals?
this song has saved my life many times ive sat been unbelievably depressed staring at a bottle of vodka and my old antidepressants in a dark room with only youtube on xbox lighting the room listening to songs and when im about to hit rock bottom this song will come on and it will help me feel everything ive been trying to feel in that moment as well as lift my mood and spirits high enough to fight a few more days you need the upbeat tempo with the depressing lyrics to counteract each other the lyrics saying everything you want to while the music lifts you puts its arm around you and urges you to carry on to keep trying that it will all be fine eventually there song lion has a similar vibe just about a different topic
This is pretty much my highschool song. Back then, my mates, and I would hang out in the textiles room, and listen to this everyday, through yr 8 to yr 11. Those were good times
It makes me think of bipolar or how with depression you try to cover it up with a smile when you see people even though you might be planning how to die.
One of my best memories was at a Hollywood undead show. When they played this song everyone in the pit just started doing their own little jig/ dance, and this young girl (probably 13) who had been petrified of the mosh the whole show comes up to me and grabs me by the hands and we start jumping and spinning and i swear the smile on her face could not get any bigger. Her mom ended up telling me later she has crippilimg social anxiety but worked up the courage to come see her favorite band live and was rejoiced to know that someone at that show was so okay with just dancing with her made it the best night she ever had. It still warms my heart to this day
Every time i show someone this song i tell them "it's the happiest song about suicide you'll ever hear" 😂 but all jokes aside, suicidal thoughts often coincide with the happy thoughts, like you see all the time "i didn't know they were depressed" "but they seem so happy" this song is literally that; an artistic visualization and someone voicing out what this actually is. Suicidal and depressive thoughts aren't always visual. You could sound happy, like this song does, but if you pay attention to the body language, or the lyrics, you'll see what's really happening... Which is why this is my favorite HU song, not just because it's so controversial, and catchy, but because it literally says something others are afraid of addressing
Hooooooo!!! This video had me screeching when I saw it on my page! I'm a HUGE Hollywood Undead fan and this makes SO HAPPY! Not only because Bullet is one of my favourite songs. It's helped me get through some of my toughest time. Sorry, not the point I'm trying to make right now. Hollywood Undead has a huge range of sound to their songs! Seriously like from rap to rock to metal to even some chill kinda pop (but not) shit like this. The band has evolved so much since they got a new singer and I have so many recommendations!!! I'm practically buzzing with excitement, Please PLEASE do more from them! You won't regret it! It's not all like this, they have some heavy topics but they also have some pretty banging party anthems. Like HU has you covered for whatever your musical needs might be!
Hollywood undead is my favorite band. And this is probably my most favorite song by them. I’ve remembered every lyric and used to right the lyrics down when I was bored in class. it hits hard because it’s so relatable
A song I really think you should check out because of not only the lyrical content but the music as well is, Calm The Fire - Alter Bridge. Alter Bridge are criminally underrated by many, but the songwriting from Myles Kennedy and Mark Tremonti is pretty damn cool. Love your stuff, Alex. Keep it up.
The way i like to put it. This isn't a song from the point of view from of a suicidal person. It's from the perspective of someone who has already decided they are dead, and is challenging the universe itself to prove them wrong
When a depressed/suicidal person suddenly becomes really happy, it's verry often a sure tell sign that they have decided how and when they are gonna commit suicide. And this Song captures this perfectly
The music is supposed to sound happy because the happiness that depressed people show is just a face because we dont want anyone to else to feel our pain but on the inside we begging for help and a purpose.
This song kind of reflects how people feel but nobody sees it. I only went outside if i felt good enough during times like this. So people around me and my family only saw me during my "ok phase" or when i was having fun which rarely was the case. But on the inside i was already broken and also people who suffer from depression mostly feel like that. I can't speak for everyone but this is how i felt and most people i know who suffered the same told me it was like that for them aswell. So i really like the song just because i can relate to the feeling and the way this song is built. I used to listen to this song a lot also during the dark times of mine. Just because it had something happy about it even tho the lyrics are obscure and very sad.
This isn’t a Hollywood Undead song I’ve heard before, and it raised my opinion of them. Brilliant song. Thanks for reacting to this. Still pushing Sevendust my friend. Black was the one that got it started but their newest album is incredible. Please react to MEDICATED if you like goosebumps.
Ok so Hollywood undead has all kinds of different sound set ups for there music, that's what makes them unique in there own way, so to really know different sounds you also have circles, knife called lust, lump your head, and rain, these are some songs you can choose to really get different vibes of their music, the best to really get intrigued is rain, listen to it and it's completely different vibed song then this, that's why holly wood undead is so secessful in their genre of music.
This song is a amazing work of art and shows the power of tone when u say somthing. The song was ment for people who take suicide as a joke that's y they used a catchy fun beat and tone to do it
I remember when I was at my lowest lows I was always this cheery guy because at that point I just felt like I was done anyways. I needed to learn to take my problems seriously, I used to joke around a lot with like serious shit I was going through. After I came out of psychiatry the second time and went to school again my teacher asked how everyones easter holidays were. I just lightheartedly told her that I missed a friends birthday party because I tried to kill myself and spent the whole week in a psychward. She was shocked and I didn’t understand why because I felt like everyone knew that I was fucked up but I realized that I unknowingly made myself look happy by being so unserious about my problems. It’s weird to realize that your issues are real and serious and that people actually care. I still joke a lot about my depression and suicidal tendencies aswell as my (former) self harm but it’s gotten better.
Actually really hyped to see you did this song, Its incredibly deep subject matter with a SUPER upbeat sound to it, the conflict makes a really strange combination, with a stupidly catchy chorus. Cant wait to see more vids my man, give Amaranthe a go, perhaps maximize by them, ALSO more kamelot!
Love the channel! You should give After the burial a go. Pretty much anything of their "wolves within" album. Within the ruins anything from "elite". The Browning anything off of "burn this world". I could name bands for days. It's great to see more people getting into metal! Keep rockin!
I guess it takes someone who has been suicidal to understand it. When you hit that point death is a happy thought. An ending to the pain makes you feel comforted. Its a perspective that most people aren't used to
Don't comment 'Bullet' is not a good starting song.... You guys are the one who suggested it, if you didn't, then you probably didn't also comment the worthwhile perfect song....
I just realized. That song was made with such lyrics in such fun melody, to made people "cheer up". I had suicide thoughts. I used to have depression (I still have but it's... Not same as I had) and that song... You just can't feel bad when you're listening to it. And, at least for me, that song would make me dancing minutes after I was thinking I should kill myself (yes that's how it looks, at least with me). Now I can see it was damn smart move to make this song sounds like this
Bullet is one of my favorite songs by Hollywood undead but yea you should have listened to Undead, from their first album Swan Songs. That’ll show you the original sound that put them on the map

My experience are that happy people have killed themselves and the obviously sad ones or the drama type get help or get helped easier.

Demon Hunter - Infected, or Not Ready to Die, or Undying
Dre Station
Yes, get some Demon Hunter up in here!
What band are you talking about?

Fuuuuuuuu this brings back memories of high school
When a depressed/suicidal person suddenly becomes really happy, it's verry often a sure tell sign that they have decided how and when they are gonna commit suicide. And this Song captures this perfectly
React to Epica - consign to oblivion live at the zenith
Bullet is my happy song
The song is a good representation of depress people cause most of time they looks really happy but inside they are very sad
Knowing the ending of the song, i was waiting for that reaction for the whole time 😂
The music is supposed to sound happy because the happiness that depressed people show is just a face because we dont want anyone to else to feel our pain but on the inside we begging for help and a purpose.
Keep up the good work. Please react to IN THIS MOMENT OR NECROGOBLIKON
Yes, Nekrogoblikon: We need a gimmick or End of infinity.
Hollywood Undead got me through some of the darkest times of my life... highly recommend 'Pour Me' now there's one that really hits
A lot of people are saying it but you'd LOVE the song "Undead" by these guys. I've been following you for a long time, it's right up your alley!
Hollywood undead - undead
I highly recommend Hear Me Now. And as one that has had these thoughts, this song does help.
Next NIGHTWISH-GHOST LOVE SCORE LIVE AT WACKEN 2013
Totally agree with you about the contrast between the music & the lyrics! I love this song though!
The song was ment for people who take suicide as a joke that's y they used a catchy fun beat and tone to do it
DARK TRANQUILLITY - LOST TO APATHY
Dark Tranquility- Punish My Heaven
I still joke a lot about my depression and suicidal tendencies aswell as my (former) self harm but it’s gotten better.
idk why but this song makes me happy- like ion know mannnn
Not really a fan of this band funnily enough! Please do more Machine Head soon!
A day to remember any song will do!
Its a perspective that most people aren't used to
i just found this video and i literally love this reaction lmao
Don't comment 'Bullet' is not a good starting song.... You guys are the one who suggested it, if you didn't, then you probably didn't also comment the worthwhile perfect song....
I just realized. That song was made with such lyrics in such fun melody, to made people "cheer up". I had suicide thoughts. I used to have depression (I still have but it's... Not same as I had) and that song... You just can't feel bad when you're listening to it. And, at least for me, that song would make me dancing minutes after I was thinking I should kill myself (yes that's how it looks, at least with me).
Now I can see it was damn smart move to make this song sounds like this
Hope you and your dog have a dope ass day. Love your vids HU fan forever
Bullet is one of my favorite songs by Hollywood undead but yea you should have listened to Undead, from their first album Swan Songs. That’ll show you the original sound that put them on the map
This song is the one of few songs by Hollywood undead to feature a member other than Danny or Deuce as the clean vocalist
React to these in order
Bmth- Pray for Plagues
Bmth- Chelsea smile
Bmth- Alligator Blood
Bmth- sleepwalking, shadow Moses, can you feel my heart (any of those)
