Or it could just be a segment where zed tries to convince X to go on an "endeavors of questionable judgment" which will probably result in X asking "Why?". Maybe the goal would be to get X to ask why and then just abort the endeavor.
The irony of you and Xisuma both building a brewer in the ‘wrong’ places! I’d love to see some ingredient gathering missions, I can imagine the shenanigans!
I love how Gem alrdy had a lab coat skin from a few episodes back. I think the only other person who has rocked one this season is Cub when he was covered in dyes from making his fireworks factory
There's not enough space but I bet it would be fun to watch two hermits trying to brew the same potion side by side. xD And ngl I think Gem had a brilliant idea turning to look at the flingers. That was really smart of her.
This looks like a stressful game. Great fun watching you and Gem playing it. I think your item distributing redstone is showing me how to solve a redstone problem I've got on Zedcraft. I'd only been able to find incredibly complicated non-solutions for it before... so, if that works out, thanks!!
Never thought load balancing in Factorio's would be something we can use in Minecraft, yet here we are! Because a double chest + 2x hoppers splits exactly (with a bit of clock work), we have a 1 to 1 analog for splitters. I wonder if you can make a 1 to 3 or a 3 to 4 with this system
You and Gem together is positivity and curiosity at full force! You play off each other well and hope you recruit her into your shenanigans again (or you into hers)!
The 11 stick trick is a bad idea; if the first slot gets backed up to 64 the signal strength will be 4 and the neighbouring sorters will be completely drained
Time limit mode? Make XYZ potion but you have # of flings of items to do it. Co-Op mode sounds fun as one can be the eyes in the sky to call out what needs plucked from where. Don't know how to make it harder to compensate though. "AI" mode, where the combrewter itself tells you it needs XYZ potion or "it will die" and you have to make it in a certain amount of time (Mumbo's Button Life minigame incorporation)
*@ZedaphPlays* 33:12 Switch the pressure plates to wood, in that way you can drop an item on the plate & be able to catch more than 1 item at a time. (in exchange for a HUGE risk of catching additional random items) ;D

Ok, now it's a line of products. "Hell O Morning Cereal" Each with Real fruit chunks... num num num. Oh, Strawberry frosted with banana chunks. Ok, you must have caught me hungry.
The only thing I would add is a delay to the button presses. like, you stand on it as the item flows by and the trapdoor will be delayed to match the 2 other items passing by. That way you don't have to look at the ceiling to count items
This combrewter is really fun-looking! Build a small hut in the gaming district where people can pay a diamond (or a block) to learn the coordinates of the game!
Hello, early Brew Crew! I enjoyed the trip back to the lab today. With all this talk of bunk bread and brewing, I may need to head to a pub this evening! It's a great combination of the last combrewter and the RGB game from a few seasons ago. Sounds like Gem had fun, too!
11 sticks in each sorter slot could lead to problems. If your storage ever gets full and the sorters start filling up, the signal can become too strong and bleed into the neighbouring units, draining them of all their items. As someone who came up with a solution to this I feel like going down to exactly 20 ingredients makes things so much easier. I ended up making a system that would check the main randomiser dropper and request more items any time it was about to run out.
only if it was part of an actual sorting system; it sorts just the items left over per game; therefore never running into an issue; Zed stocks it himself
Yeah, that works, at least as long as he only fills it up any time it's empty or looks into each dropper manually. If the sorters were set up slightly differently he could just throw a bunch of ingredients into the steam going into the sorters and let the overflow handle anything that's full.
I could see a versus mode in there. Two brewing stands, Two rows of trapdoors, two players with two rows of pressure plates. The trapdoors per player are arranged so that each player has the front trapdoor in two lanes and the back trapdoor in the other two. Then one (or a list of) potions to brew, first one to finish wins. You could "steal" ingredients on the expense of sabotaging your own potion, ... You may need a "collect/discard" current potion button for each player, though, to allow for brewing a list of potions.
What if there were 2 stands, one at each end, and you flick a lever to toggle the direction of a water stream on top. So you could have a hard mode where you have to make 2 potions at once, frantically swapping between the stands to get them both going at the same time. And you could also have a 2P mode where each player is trying to make their own different potion in their own stand, and wrestling with the lever to make it happen! Maybe a regen beacon so they can punch each other about
Ever since watching season 10 I've been learning a bunch of redstone-ey tech. When Zed was like "I need a way to fire off the droppers from all the way over there" I was like... "oh that'd be a perfect time to use a calibrated skulk sensor" And when he said "I need to do this exactly 5 times" I was like "Oh, you can do that with binary using copper bulbs like at tango's factory" Maybe I should make one of these in my world...
Something to consider could be a 4 lamp display down at the ice path that cycles through with each item so you can remember "redstone at 3 lights". And then have another 4 lamp display next to the brewing stand. This way you dont have to turn around to wait for the item. Might make it too easy though.
You should add a button you can push to active a hopper and empty the brewing stand and a hopper to add more bottles so you can do multiple in a row for a longer game
Be nice if you could add a button next to each Pressure Plate that would send a long pulse to the Iron Trap Doors for instances of wanting both Gunpowder and Redstone Dust.
It seems the balcony pov gives you a lot more information. If you replace the pressure plate with target blocks, shooting them from the balcony could be an interesting variation for the game
Maybe you could have a two player cooperative mode, where one player watches the incoming ingredients and tells the other player which lane to stand in to collect them?
For two-player mode, you could have both start with Awkward Potions already made, and then make sure both sides need different ingredients and have an item filter before the brewing stands? Alternatively, some way of tracking who is responsible for catching the most ingredients over the course of multiple potions?
Two-player cooperative mode should be very doable and fun! Just build a view-blocking wall so the person working the buttons can't see the items coming in, while their teammate up on the viewing platform has to shout out which button to press and when.
If I may, I would suggest switching from stepping backward to forward onto the pressure plates. That way, -players- the very serious scientists know if they're aiming for the right plate without needing to turn around. They also can easily move away from all the plates if they don't need any of the ingredients being flung.
Small problem with your item filters: by putting more than one stick in the hopper's 2nd to 5th slots, you are breaking the overflow protection. Not a problem until you totally fill up storage capacity for one of the ingredients, but once you do things will start to fall apart. If you plan to keep tabs on stocks so that none of them will ever overflow anyways, then you could just remove the first Redstone Dust of every item filter, move the Comparator to where that Redstone was, and put a full block where the Comparator used to be. That makes it so you only need 20-ish filler items instead of 44. Also there's an easier way to split items evenly into 4. Put 4 hoppers in a 2x2 shape, put a Hopper Minecart at the intersection of the 4, and push 4 glass blocks into it from above so it can never be moved. The Hopper Minecart sucks 10 items per second from above. Which is just enough to keep the 4 Hoppers below fed at 2.5 items per second. Or at least that used to work before they updated how Hoppers work a few patches ago, not certain if it's still working right now or not. If it's still possible to shove 4 Hopper Minecarts in that same spot, that would help with randomizing.
There is a flaw in your brewing mechanism regarding some of the 4+ ingredients potions, because of which even if you catch all the necessary ingredients in the correct order, the potion will still fail. Because the hopper into which the ingredients fall before being placed in the brewing stand will always prioritize the first slot. So, for example, you want to create a potion of invisibility. To create it, you need the order: nether wart => golden carrot => fermented spider eye => redstone dust. The first two ingredients will load correctly. If the fermented spider eye is placed in the hopper before the golden carrot is spat out of it, it will take up the second slot in the hopper. Then, when the carrot is sucked in the brewing stand leaving first slot of the hopper empty and at that moment the redstone falls into the hopper, it will take up the first slot. As a result, instead of the order: wart => carrot => eye => redstone You will get: wart => carrot => redstone => eye You need to somehow ensure that the order of catching ingredients is the same as the order of putting them into a brewing stand.
Might I suggest this as a 2-player combrewter game: “B.R.E.W.” (based on H.O.R.S.E. in basketball). Whoever goes first brews a potion, any potion, as fast as possible. The other player then has to brew the same potion, obtaining the same score or lower. If they succeed, they take another turn and pick a new potion to brew, with the first player having to match their score or lower. Any time a player fails to match their opponent’s potion, or gets a higher score, they get a letter (B, then R, then E, then W). The first player to spell out BREW loses.
I would like to see a 2 player mode where one person has to give the other directions, while the player standing on the plates has limited vision and they have to rely solely on the direction given to them by the other person
I love these ridiculous contraptions. Seeing things like this reminds me of why I like this game so much. It doesn't have to be "the meta" to be enjoyed. Dare I say it? There is a flaw in your brewing mechanism regarding some of the 4+ ingredients potions, because of which even if you catch all the necessary ingredients in the correct order, the potion will still fail. Because the hopper into which the ingredients fall before being placed in the brewing stand will always prioritize the first slot.
So, for example, you want to create a potion of invisibility. To create it, you need the order:
nether wart => golden carrot => fermented spider eye => redstone dust.
