- Oxygen therapy does not mean being stuck at home. There is equipment available that allows you to be mobile. This talk will provide you with items to consider whether you are travelling by car, train or airplane.
The best video on traveling with oxygen that I've seen! My wife has been on oxygen full time for over 12 years. We had been doing week long cross country trips to visit her dad with tanks for years after the portable machine couldn't supply the 4 liters of oxygen that she now needs. Then an oxygen affiliate in Memphis told us how dangerous it was to have them in your trunk. I wish I had seen this great video sooner! We switched to an SUV, and over the years (with many experiments and experiences) have gone from carrying 15-17 big tanks, to now carrying just 6 big tanks (mostly for backup) along with using a home oxygen concentrator with a 720 watt inverter for oxygen while we drive. We plan to document our breakthroughs in traveling with oxygen in the near future!
I suffer from cluster headaches & need a lot of oxygen tanks! I pray you document it! Sounds like your system would work for me
What needs to be filmed is a video of an actual patient who drives, getting in & out of their car. As retired Registered Nurse & Registered Resp.Therapist, we believed some O2 provider or medical professional would’ve posted this important info, as many patients today are far more mobile. We searched online for this helpful info. but found little. Perhaps your hospital would consider filming a willing patient getting into & out of their vehicles? Planning ahead is of course CRITICAL for success.
How do you strap down an oxygen tank UNDER your front seat or passenger front seat?
Important to know! Some cars’ cigarette lighters are not electrified when the car stops at a Red light or simply is in park. Patients need to be made aware, there’s nothing wrong with their O2 concentrator; it’s the cars’ Electrical Systems temporarily shutting down to conserve battery.
The problem is every airliner as different policy
Traveling by air is required medical form to be filled need about 2 weeks at least to be deliver to the airline
