I chose Cambodia over Thailand to live. For me, it's less westernised, less crowded, and the retirement visa is just a lot easier to obtain. Also, with a population of only 17 million, it has so much potential.
200k note! In Vietnam the largest note is 500k and the largest store here in Dalat often has difficulty having enough cash to give change for it. It's worth less than $20USD😂.
Thank you again for sharing the news! We`re planning to visit the country again in February 2025. Nice to see that someone cares about the country of Cambodia and is taking the time to report the news.
Great moto news today. I am happy to hear about ev charging becoming a priority. I have seen the charging point outside Asia Mart being used. Where did you get this information? I hope they aren't planning on removing the Canadian Consulate office in Siem Reap. Thanks for always keeping us up-to-date.
Was that a “we hope electricity will become cheaper” or the government has mentioned, suggested or hinted in any way that electricity might become cheaper?
Thank you for the news. Interesting and informative as ever. Great to see Siem Reap on top of that list, and by several country miles. Regarding the report on the police waistline. When I was back in Australia earlier this year, I was struck by the large number of corpulent coppers on the streets of Sydney. Perhaps they could learn something from the Cambodian constabulary. Keep up the great work.
As a Canadian, I think the new embassy is an Awesome idea!!! There is a lot to be gained on both sides of this relationship. Our countries though different, have a lot in common. The way we treat other people with respect is one of them. LOL If Canada banned doughnuts for the police, we would not have a police force here. LOL Many thanks for the update. 😀🙏🙏🙏
I have a question is .25 USD per kilowatt the bottom line price or are there extra surcharges? In the US the price of electricity varies a lot, in my case in Hawai'i, the nominal price price is about .34 USD per Kilowatt but there are several surcharges amongst them a charge just for being a customer that varies between 11 USD and 35 USD. Looking at my latest bill I used 110 kilowatts last month and my bill is 90.26 USD which makes the final price per kilowatt .82 USD, which is 3.28 times higher than the rate of .25 USD. If my cost per kilowatt was only .25 USD my cost would have been 27.50 a staggering 62.76 USD less costly bill.
Wow those are some huge prices. In Cambodia it's a flat rate with no other charges, so you pay for what you use and that's it. We live in a house and that's billed at the government rate, so it's about $0.17 USD per kWh. Apartments are generally 0.25 though.
Great update Most people are leaving there country of birth due to the ridiculous price hikes of living But due to the so many globally leaving + the war for some ( many), the original destinations have become overwhelmed, & no longer a quite & peaceful destination, thus a broader global destination search is on the agenda,
Thanks to both of you for the valuable information you provide... really awesome 👍 I'm currently planning my (early @61) retirement to Siem Reap and wondering about seasonal variations in apartment availability. I expect to be there late March/early April 2025 and I'm guessing that availability might increase at that point as the heat starts to ramp up and the winter dodgers leave for home: There seem to be quite a few apartments on ips within my budget but mostly older listings...
I remember a time over 5 years ago, I tried to use a 100,000 riel note at a SMART store. An employee looked at it like they had never seen one before. They actually asked me to give them a $20 US note instead. The police ought to set up bicycle patrols for the overweight officers. LOL.
I've moved abroad for 20 years, but haven't been there for the last 10 years, I wonder why most Cambodian roads are dominated by dirt like almost full over the center. I think maybe the way they build the curb sides is not up enough to prevent the dirt invasion over the road. Love you all Khmer people❤
You should ask the Cambodian tourist board to buy you about 100 coffees!😆. Well done! But as a German I must admit there are only a few youtuber likeable as you are. Today your news help me to forget the result of the US election😪
You have to be kidding me. Baltimore number three? Seriously? I live 15 minutes from Baltimore City, and I will not go there for any reason anymore. There is nothing there but crime, crime, and more crime. Why on earth would anyone from the UK want to visit Baltimore? 🤔
@@ForRiel I'm sorry I wasn't saying anything towards you. I just can't believe anyone would want to go to Baltimore of all cities for vacation/holiday.
Hi Claire, thanks for the news update. Something I have been wondering about when watching your videos is that I never hear a siren or see an ambulance. Should I need urgent medical care when in SR, what support is available? Thanks in advance :)
Greetings from Dallas, Texas, USA. Wonderful news about future renewable energy! Our state Texas, has more renewable energy than any other state in the USA and is developing more. Win, win for everyone!
How much have you been paying for your bus ticket from Phnom Penh to Ho Chi Mong City? I just went to 3 bus ticket places by Night Market and they want $39, $46 and $76 for a one way ticket with no toilet on the bus and a 7 hr. Trip. I thought my roommates were paying $17-$24 earlier this summer when gas was higher priced. My landlord thinks something is off as well and thought that ticket is only supposed to run $13-$20...
Please consider Sunrise Cambodia (an orphanage founded by Geraldine Cox) as a potential recipient of your donations. Thank you.❤ Sunrise Cambodia is a registered Australian charity founded in 1993, which has provided a loving home, education and care for hundreds of orphaned, abandoned and at-risk children, and education for thousands of other children from poor communities. Our higher education program has supported our kids through university and vocational training, while our community projects have supported whole communities with education programs, infrastructure and emergency aid.
@@ForRiel That’s wonderful news! Please let me know, for abandoned children, what is your better way? I am open to learning. Thank you for your wonderful channel. 👍
‘jom reab suar’ Miss Clare, man those drivers love hugging the middle road line, huge head on chance? Delicate question if i may be impertinent, are most of the Tuk-Tuk drivers OK (yes there are a few bad eggs everywhere in the world) as in trust worthy, i don't want to buy a bike or car if i live there for a year or 2, just want a trust worthy TT driver or 2 i can ring when needed i can pay him extra for hie trouble similar to a retainer, or even a taxi isn't out of the question. You may have a better idea? reason i am jittery about driving on the opposite side of the road, poor local lady here in town was killed by 2 young french tourists driving on the wrong side last week, she was a great lady, didn't deserve that and the boys have that to live with forever. ‘lia haeuy’🙏🙏🙏
That's terrible..... Jeremy drives very safely as you don't want to be too close to the edges as people pull out all the time. Pass App or grab are the best to use.
Green energy is great for getting electricity to locations that don't have access to the grid. Other than that, it sucks. Cambodia going for Net Zero is not a positive, it means electing to remain underdeveloped. Unless you're talking about nuclear, green energy is nonsense.
Solar and wind are the way of the future as Cambodia imports all its energy. It's also cost effective compared to building huge nuclear reactors, plus no waste.
Thanks for watching the November news!
Hurray for SR… great news for the tourist industry and welcome Aussies, UK 🇬🇧, Canadians
We are waiting for you 🙏
I chose Cambodia over Thailand to live. For me, it's less westernised, less crowded, and the retirement visa is just a lot easier to obtain. Also, with a population of only 17 million, it has so much potential.
Cambodia Not as crowded and much less expensive.
I moved here after two years in Thailand. Much less visa hassles.
The visa is amazing and easy to get.
Thanks as always for your updates :) I look forward to you announcing for direct flights from Siem Reap to Australia!
Can't wait! 😍😁
Siem Reap trending for Aussie thanks to you. Thank you 😊
We do our best 😁🥰
Beautiful scenery to Beautiful Beng Malea temple ❤❤❤

It's hard to break a 50k ($12.50) note here as well 😀
A 200K note - gosh - I haven’t seen a 100K yet
Will be in Siem Reap tomorrow
Thanks as always for the positive news 🙏
Actually I don't think I've seen bigger than a 50k note either. Great to have you in SR tomorrow! 🍍💯😺
Congrats SR and Riel dual - win win win
Thanks for watching and commenting 😁😀
It must be at least partly due to your videos that got Australian interested in Siem Reap, so for that thank you 🙏
I hope so! 🤞🙏

Coming back to Cambodia in February 2025
See you soon 🥰😍
Great video as always!
The quality of this road remains me of the roads back in the early 2000s.
It was actually not that bad no potholes and not dirt 🥰

Why remove it?

25c per kWh is expensive?
We pay 46c per kWh in the UK, and a $1 a day standing charge!
Good job we don't need A/C!
Oh wow, that is outrageous! 😱
@@ForRiel Oh, hang on, I converted to Aussie dollars so only 30c US. Bargain!
I only pay 730 riel a kwh in PP by my calcs that's about 17cents USD. You must be paying a landlord rate or something
Love your efforts. Mates. It is a magical place that deserves all the hopeful blessings that tourism may provide.
Absolutely 😁💯

It seems inflation is slowing. Hopefully the war will end soon and Governments will stop the Mega Companies from pumping up prices for insane profits.

There's a huge oversupply of apartments in SR. You will have plenty of choice in any budget. Happy planning 🙂

Bring on a direct flight from Melbourne or Sydney to Siem Reap :) The exchange in Malaysia or Thailand is always hard when traveling with a family.
