I have a long list of favorite guitarists, and at the top (of the list) is Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan. I had many chances to see him perform live, but unfortunately put it off and then it was too late. I've heard that he was a very humble man, never bragging about his talent and always giving credit to the great blues musicians who he learned from. R.I.P. Stevie
So happy to see y'all enjoying STEVIE RAY VAUGHN he was a very special man! This was one of his last shows before he passed I would love to see you do his live TIN PAN ALLEY WITH JOHNNY COPELAND. AMAZING BLUES MASTERPIECE 💜💜💜
Tin Pan Alley with Johnny Copeland and Stevie Ray Vaughan! If you want to see where Stevie Ray is in his element, Texas Blues is where it is! It's one of the greatest performances I've ever seen!
Prince is an amazing guitarist, songwriter and performer. But, as far as guitar playing alone, I agree, Stevie’s got him beat. For me Stevie and Jimi are in a class all by themselves. No disrespect to Prince, Clapton, Gibbons, Page, May or any of the other legends, but I think they’d even agree.
John Perry no Prince isn’t an amazing guitarist. He could play, but he couldn’t land on the root note, on the beat, to save his life. His solo, the one everyone talks about, his Rock n roll hall of fame solo was absolute trash. Didn’t follow the rhythm or the music at all. It was just about him trying to show off, and all he showed was his Ass. Great songwriter? Matter of opinion. Mediocre guitar player... I’d say it’s observable. Just my take.
I can't get enough of your reaction videos. The diversity is just awesome! All I have to give is my love for you both! Keep entertaining please. Much love ❤️ ❤️
Stevie Ray was one of my 2 favorites. PRINCE was an amazing all around artist and could kill the guitar. For any doubters watch his COACHELLA performance of, "CREEP" it's mind blowing
I see where a few people say he bends down to adjust the knobs on his foot pedals to tweak the guitar tone, but that's what the foot pedal itself is for. When he's bending down it's to quickly grab himself a new guitar pick as he had just broken the one he was using. Right there on the floor in front of him is a little rack holding a boatload of them as he breaks so many throughout each song and show. Great reaction, I was fortunate enough myself to see him live two weeks before his fateful helicopter crash.... I'll never forget that show...
I grew up in Austin & Stevie was Austin. As a child he would listen to the black delta blues & Chicago blues guitarists & play note for note & the made it his own. He heard Hendrix & he became his idol. In this performance he had got clean from drugs & found God, then died in the heli accident. He used to get so coked up, sometimes he had to be helped to the stage, but when they put his guitar in his hands he would play like he was sober & channel Hendrix through his fingers.
Hey guys i was a stage hand at the capitol theater in Passaic N.J when Stevie Ray played. i was like 15 feet away on the side of the stage while he played. actually meet him during sound check and after the show. He was a great man. if u have not checked it out u should. Stevie Ray at the Capitol theater in Passaic N.J October 1985.
I was lucky enough to have seen SRV play just one month before he died in 1990 - one of the best shows I ever saw. What made it doubly tragic was that he was newly clean and sober and was playing at the top of his game (as you observed). He was so grateful to be alive and made a point of letting the audience know. If you want to get a taste of another side of Stevie, I highly recommend this emotional track (Riviera Paradise) from the same show you just watched (Austin City Limits 1989). This is one of my all-time favorites: ruclips.net/video/3c_8VUL5jks/видео.html - it was one of the last things I watched with my Dad before he passed earlier this year.
I think he’s adjusting his equipment, tweaking his sound mid performance, which is crazy because he doesn’t miss a beat doing it. If you haven’t seen it. He switches guitars mid performance in a few videos because he breaks his string. Still doesn’t miss a beat. Dude was legendary.
I saw him play live 3 times....each time was like a religious experience....when he played the fabric of time and space bent towards him and you could not look away....sweet and humble off stage....a God onstage....Eric Clapton said he was the greatest blues guitarist he'd ever seen....and he played with Jimi....he is still missed.....once in a century kind of genius....they should blast his music out into space so the aliens know we're cool....RIP SRV....
I was blessed to see him a few times & had tix to see his next performance here in Phx, a month or so before he died in that helicopter crash. 😭😠 He was set to play at the AZ State Fair. We, instead, had a kegger party in his honor, blaring his music all night. He was taken from us too soon! ❤️
Stevie Ray Vaughan died in a helicopter crash over East Troy, Wisconsin on August 27, 1990 at age 35. He is buried at Laurel Land Memorial Park which is located in Dallas, Texas. He was and still is a legend, Rest In Peace SRV!!!
I don't think what Stevie does can be taught. You can get lessons and get real good with dedication and practice, but Stevie had something else extra. The confidence, he attacks the guitar.
To say Stevie is talented is a colossal understatement. Stevie was one of those rare, once in a generation, supremely gifted people that were born to do what they do. Stevie idolized the great blues players of his time and those that came before him. Whenever he would play with the likes of B.B. King, Albert King and, Johnny Copeland and the rest he always showed them the greatest respect and admiration. Stevie was a very humble person. He received the highest honor, praise and respect from the best blues players of his era during his time on earth. Stevie was heavily influenced by Jimmy Hendrix and all of the greatest black blues players during his time, but his greatest influence and mentor was Albert King. Stevie idolized Albert. He would spend as much time with Albert as he could so that he could learn how to play like Albert. Rock guitar legend, Eric Clapton was so impressed by Stevie’s talent that when he was scheduled to play after Stevie during a blues concert Eric, refused to go on. When asked why he wouldn’t go on, Eric said, “How do you follow that?” Eric said, “I have never seen a man more at one with his ax than Stevie Ray Vaughn is. Stevie received high praise from B.B. King, Albert Collins, Howlin’ Wolf and so many other great blues players. It was at the time of Stevie’s death that he was finally receiving the national recognition that he deserved. Two weeks before Stevie died in that helicopter crash my brother saw Stevie at a blues concert that had Joe Cocker head lining with Stevie and Double Trouble backing him up. My brother didn’t know who Stevie was before the concert and when he described his concert experience to me he said Joe was good, but Stevie Ray Vaughn blew him and the rest of the crowd away.
Buddy Holly, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eddie Hazel, Curt Cobain, Eddie Van Halen, Prince Roger Nelson.... REST IN PARADISE !!!! There is a party going on beyond the PEARLIE GATES.
He died Aug. 27th 1990...not the 28th. Died in the mountains of East Troy, Wisconsin in a helicopter crash just minutes after finishing a concert. SRV was invited to that concert by Eric Clapton...who was supposed to be on the same copter as SRV. When Clapton saw SRV for the first time in 1983, SRV opened for Clapton's world tour beginning in Clapton's home town of London. Clapton had never heard of SRV before and when he went into the audience to listen to Stevie Ray, he immediately canceled the world tour. He said "He's the best guitarist I've seen..." and walked away like he'd seen a ghost, I SAW that interview and the concert on BBC in 1983.
Great reaction guys! Stevie was a true class act. He could have recorded Voodoo Child without permission, but he actually visited Jimi Hendrix’s father to ask. If you want to see the true soul of the man, both musically and personally, check out Life Without You recorded at the Capital Theater. Amazing.
You better leave my little girl alone by Stevie Ray is absolutely insane! You won’t see anyone play the blues better! You won’t be sorry:) Nice reaction fam!
Most guitarists make faces or move their heads weirdly while they play. It lets all the tension, while playing,, to come out from somewhere other than their hands. There are many funny faces and head movements to be seen.
I saw SRV in a lil pub In Virginia Beach. Only 150 peeps there. Then I went to 9 more of his shows. He died same day as my grandmother and me and my brother cried a lot that day. He was the best!
Watching this musical genius, made me think of all the computerized music we have today & how fewer kids are playing instruments. Makes me worried for the future of music! At this rate, a day will come where instruments will be a thing of the past & there's nothing like watching a musician play an instrument like it's an extension of their body & soul! We gotta keep encouraging the youth of today & tomorrow to play instruments!
Lucky enough to see him before he died. Was in a gym at Northeastern University and they had those folded seats on the floor of the gym. By the end of the 1st song, all the seats were stacked against the walls and everybody was dancing their asses off. Was awesome ! Good stuff guys !
You're correct, He was at Alpine Valley theater in Wisconsin with Eric Clapton, his brother Jimmie and Buddy Guy that I've seen twice. He was 35. It was August 27 , 1990. My cousin was born the same day!
Stevie Ray Vaughan, Austin City Limits, live 81 or 83, Voodoo Child cover the. Greatest blues guitarist and singer, ever! This is a Hendrix cover. Bowie had him play on his Let's dance , album. Then asked him to join his band. SRV turned him down!!😮😮 Greatest guitarist ever!! Died young, leaving the Montreux Jazz Festival, in a terrible helicopter crash. RIP to SRV. U should watch all his Austin City Limits, concerts! Ironically, first time he went to Montreaux, he was booed mercilessly, they felt he wasn't Jazz enough! When he went back in 95, he was treated as the reigning god of the show! And then he died...if u watch just one more of his vids, it should be from this show, Texas Flood! His look, blues voice, guitar ability, showmanship... God purpose built this man to play the Blues! There's been a lot of great guitarists , but combined with his voice, look, presence, voice, showmanship and ability , there's only him. Besides Eddie Van Halens' Frankenstein guitar, this is the most valuable guitar on the planet, and his brother, Jimmy Vaughn, has it! If u asked people for a list of top 20 guitarist all time, most people's would be very similar. But if u said, out of that list, who's complete... stage showmanship, ability, presence, perfect voice to the music, no thinking or delay in his freestyle, song writing, etc., There's only SRV! I've always said, Prince was a brutal guitarist, he does a live version of While my guitar Gently Weeps. With like 10 of the best living guitarists , and he smokes them all! But he could learn guitar and showmanship all over, from SRV!
He was at Alpine Valley...East Troy, WI...performed, then copter struck one of the ski hills midflight while leaving late at night from the concert area. Was a very foggy night and pilot missed his route. Lived a couple miles from Alpine Valley ski resort. A vast area used as a venue for big-name talent concerts in the off season. Drew 20,00-40,00 attendees.

Prince isn’t even in the same category as Stevie.....”real talk”.
Exactly, and I am a HUGE prince fan and while prince is actually a very underrated guitarist and was one of the best.... SRV is in a tier by himself.
SRV AND JIMI that's it! Lol
@@watchthis7767 Eric Clapton was asked about how it felt to be the world’s best guitarist.
His response: “I don’t know. Ask Prince.”
Prince and SRV had very similar influences growing up. Good ear!! 🔥🔥👊👊
When I first visited Austin TX I jogged around the whole city and randomly came across a SRV statue. I knew then I loved this city
I will never forget that morning in 1990 when I woke up and heard the horrible news. Rest In Peace.
Me too what a loss
Jealous, Lol
My personal favorite 🎸 thanks mom and dad for having me grow up on this!
Pride and Joy ❤️from Stevie Ray Vaughn!!
He’s that good, people never hear how good that drummer is.
When he covered Jimi Hendrix tunes he did them serious justice!!!!!!
That guitar was an extension of his body. Unbelievable talent. We lost a good one when SRV died.
Celebration of Blues and Soul
Texas Flood. Amazing performance.
Truly
What gets completely missed (it’s so subtle) is the knobs he’s constantly hitting and switching as he’s playing this song. It’s so incredible
Gone way too soon!! RIP SRV!! and my Brother, y'all are so right about those bottles!! THEY ARE THE BEST!!! 👍👍👍🤜🤛😊😊
They actually put up a statue of him in Austin Texas. RIP Stevie Ray, you are loved and missed.....
Austin, Texas
@@louisesblues Thanks! I corrected it. :)
Tommy Shannon on bass, Chris Layton on drums really driving things along for SRV. They were a tight group.
Stevie n guitar melted together as one!!
It goes down!!!!!!
I can't feel anything but good vibes!!! Give the drummer some . True reactions Half , yes that's his guitar 😂.
Drew 20,00-40,00
attendees.
I use to see Stevie at the Rome Inn in Austin Texas back in 1975 and 1976 he had a band called The Triple Threat Revue with Lou Ann Barton and W C Clark, cover charge was $3.00 , man he was always great ,RIP Stevie , guys you should do a video on Freddie King a blues guitarist that influenced Clapton, Stevie, and countless others , he was called The Texas Cannonball, and died young 45 or so of a heart attack , love your show
Hey now! Really enjoyed this! Thank you!
You need to hear Stevie Ray Vaughan “pride and joy”
The story behind that song is the best backstory in music history.
you need to shut your pie hole
My favorite of his
Thanks for sharing one of my faves. Had to pull my car over to grieve when I heard the news of his passing back in the radio days. Note the other comments about fiddling with his pedal settings when he kneels down. You can see his pedal box in a few shots that are not so close up to him. Thanks again! Love u guys.
Tin Pan Alley with Stevie Ray Vaughn and Johnny Copeland!! My very favorite!! Play when you can....😜 I’ll be waiting!! ❤️Tennessee
INDEED!!!
My fav too!
Yes, for sure.
Watch SRV "Little Wing" live at the El Mocombo
He is adjusting the effect pedals on the floor...Stevie was killed in August of 1990 in a helicopter crash in Wisconsin...his band is amazing on this also especially drummer Chris Layton , Tommy Shannon also is killing it on the bass
Let the church say amen, "you gonna learn today"....In my opinion the best ever
He made a deal with the devil. I don't know what stevie got but the devil got guitar lessons. Joking
That's Elmore James. Dust My Broom
🤣🤣 yes!
He went to the crossroads
😁 I’ll be repeating that joke
SRV - LEGEND. Greatest all time. GREAT reaction as usual from you guys.
They called that guitar #1, it had also been called his wife. Never been anyone like SRV. Love your channel, You two are a great couple.
Abused wife
Goosebumps. About the millionth time.
Austin City Limits. My mom took me to this show for my birthday. Long live the Texas legend!!!
Prince and Stevie playing together in Heaven now. RIP Prince and Stevie.
Jeff Healey blue Jean blues 💙... another epic song and guitarist... he was blind and played on his lap...
Thank you for doing another SRV reaction video. A musician like that comes only once in a lifetime, if that. I have other guitar hero’s I admire an like, but no one could play like SRV. His body may be gone, but he will live forever through his music. Thank you Stevie.
That was from "One night in Texas" Austin City Limits. Look at little sister, mary had a little lamb, and most definitely, leave my girl alone, tightrope. This is Stevie Ray sayin "what it do,what it do "
I love that you’re discovering and appreciating SRV. My all time favorite artist.
Played with BB King and all the great Blueds players. Stevie did.
He's the only celebrity, sports, film or music that i almost cried when he died.
