La Difference, or the Difference, is one of her major french hits. It's about tolerance and the right for all people to live a true love, whatever their sexual inclinations is. Lara wrote this when one of her gay friend was segregated and harassed. She is not from this community but endorsed their fight for this right.
She is very proud of it, and always battled for it, even in Russia when she was fined then faced even bigger problems with local authorities, singing this song in concert there.
Don't be confused though: Lara is not taking part of the current Woke / Anti Woke hysteria. She does not promote any community versus the other. She just fights for anyone to be able to live a true love.

A beautiful song of Lara Fabian and Rick Allison from 1996..(released later on album "Pure") she wrote it in honor of LGBTQ community, putting her face for them.. And she was criticized a lot in fact..due to laws against that community in Russia released in 2013, she did receive threats and a big fine because despite all she did sing it during her concert in in Russia ...but she goes and goes.. Performing always this song.. . She also did perform it in every dates of her last Tour in Europe and Canada. She has a big heart and respect for everyone. ❤
But for me her best version is on 2002 live, where she interacts and sing it with her fan..
