Nice fishing trip. Those little catfish need to handle with care. They have 3 fins, 2 pectorals (both side of the head) and 1 dorsal on their back. The spines in the Dorsal and Pectoral fin contain a venom that can cause swelling when you get stung. As they grow older the spine gets duller and less dangerous. I am not quite sure who actually own the Courantyne River. It seems like Surinamese Government control the entire river flowing from the Acarai Mountains stretches 450 miles into the Atlantic Ocean. Why Guyanese fisherman need to obtain a fishing license from Surinam?
You are so right about those small catfish. I know the pain very well..had some bad experience with them growing up. Lol. From what I heard,suriname owns the corentyne river or most of it. Without a suriname fishing license no fishermen can fish deep sea. Thank you for sharing your info and for watching our video.
