I'm eating a soup of pureed and sliced green, red, and yellow vegetables, white beans, and potatoes. It's absolutely delicious. Broccoli red and green bell peppers dehydrated sliced onion (tons of it) a few herbs and spices - black pepper, turmeric, sage, paprika, Italian seasoning, a few coriander berries 3 big white potatoes and lots of cooked white beans paprika I finished it with some soy sauce
Good morning I agree with everything being said on the podcast. But one thing I think potatoes are great but only if you buy organic. They should mention that they spray potatoes five times before harvesting with glycinate which is Roundup Ready. To let people know they need to buy organic
Chickpea flour works well as an egg replacement. There's recipes on you tube etc. I've made scrambled eggs, omelettes,and gravy with chickpea flour. Thank you Chef AJ for all you do you're a perfect host, you ask the best questions,and you're such a great listener take care, love and PEACE.
I already have a year's supply of food in my house. And THANK THE LORD, I live in Louisiana. We have SO much farmland used for growing sugar cane, and I'll predict that we'll soon be growing rice instead of cane. Lots of other food crops grow beautifully in Louisiana. But we "waste" square mile after square mile of our wonderful BLACK soil, on growing sugar for the processed food industry. I'm literally looking at a sugarcane field right now, right outside my window.... I'm willing to bet that will be a field of starches sooner or later. Seriously, Louisiana has enough farmland to provide for the whole region. And we grow very good sweet potatoes, too;)
I went vegetarian for 9 months to sustain weight after losing 30 pounds on healthy keto. My rashes came back on the 100% vegetarian diet, and people said I looked unhealthy. Too many carbs and fruits. Reintroduced free range eggs and grass fed beef a couple times a week while maintaining organic vegetables and cutting down fruits. Rashes are disappearing. Feeling more healthy and energetic. Keeping normal blood pressure in place. Just saying that’s what’s working for me.
Maybe you need to find the food that you are allergic to rather than adding back meat and eggs which are not healthy for you but also probably weren’t causing the rash.
@@TheMabes69 You guys don’t realize that most of us vegans ate poorly for years- I ruined my skin losing 100 pounds I had gained while I was a meat eater. I also did Atkins for years. Not only that but we have sun damage and sagging from gravity. In your sixties and seventies and up it’s about passable good looks, freedom from chronic diseases, freedom from pain, and other health metrics like weight.
I ate very little and sometimes no meat products for years. Then I got serious about weight loss, so I doubled down on veganism. Well... my body rebelled, digestion got messed up from nose to tail, ended up in the hospital with GERD, gastritis, excess stomach acid. Had to go low inflammation and live on bone broth for a while. Tried reintroducing veg, but it tore my guts up. Now eating carnivore. Not excited about it. I miss fruits and veg, but my body is giving a bit NOPE when I try reintroducing it. Bacon and eggs, however, cause no inflammation in my gut. Enjoy the veg. Anyway, I'm slow healing and getting stronger.
Eggs are not baby chickens unless fertilised by a rooster. The egg industry does not keep roosters to fertilise the eggs, therefore baby chicks are not killed by eating eggs. I keep backyard chickens with no rooster, my hubby eats eggs. I don't but my chickens are cared for, and are allowed room to move, they have a good life.
I actually wasn't aware for the longest time, but to get the hens that they use in the egg industry, they obviously have to fertilize eggs. Approximately half of the chickens that come out of those eggs are male. They can't use the males, so they actually get killed. In the US the preferred method is killing them by maceration, which basically translates to putting them through a high speed blender.
True, eggs you buy at the grocery store are not fertile. However baby chicks ARE KILLED because you buy hens and your husband eats eggs. Female chickens are the ones who lay eggs. Male chicks are not needed so they are disposed of. You may think that your hens were created by a mother hen that only laid female eggs, but that is a false belief. Their brothers were killed because they don't sell and they don't lay eggs. Your hens will lay for a while , then their egg production will lessen and eventually stop, and you will have a flock of hens that don't lay eggs. What are going to do with them? Feed them and have no eggs? Where do you think your new hens will come from, from a hen that lays only female eggs? Nope, the male chicks that are born are not needed...and no one sends them to a happy rooster camp to live out their lives.
@@jean6453 I do realise the process of chicken breeding and the ratio of pullets to cockerels in fertilised eggs, and I am horrified that the chicken farming industry culls the male chicks this way. I was merely referring to Dr MacDougals statement that when eating eggs you're eating chicken embryos, which is only the case if the eggs were fertilised. I only keep a small flock of bantam breeds which lay sporadically, when they cease production which won't be for several more years, I will keep them as pets until they die a natural death. As I wasn't a vegan when I initially bought my hens, I didn't want to sell them when I became vegan because that is irresponsible pet ownership. I will not be replacing my hens when they have passed on, so will not be perpetuating the cycle. Thanks for your input.
Living in Arizona currently, we are so fortunate to have a "Ready/Set/Go" protocol for our wildfire danger and evacuations. We have a wildfire burning as we speak, but we feel that our state is handling everything brilliantly. I can not believe that California let the McDougall's and other residents stay in their homes until they only had 5 minutes to escape the flames! Crazy!! No wonder they moved...
Concerning omega 3 plant sources: Brassicas (aka mustards) grow as weeds around people and are a great source of ala omega 3. Maybe Mother Nature is giving us a hint? Also, squashes, melons and beans are great sources of ala omega 3s too.
❤ @CHEF AJ It’s always good hearing from Dr McDougall. This time though I felt like a reticent child being scolded, and I really felt it. Good reminders and I’ll go back again to improve my habits. It’s hard to do everything right at once, and in adding a new habit sometimes the older bad habits slip back in; gradually though habits keep getting better overall.

Eggs are such important topic. Even bring a vegetarian for years it took me decades to find out I shouldn’t be eating eggs and dairy. Now I’m a plant based vegan but wish I would have know decades ago. The education is a real gift to the planet and people who get to hear it.
Eggs are one of the healthiest foods we can eat. They provide saturated fats and cholesterol in the right amounts to us which we absolutely need. This is not education, this is anti-scientific ideology.

hey, me too! I went really heavy on the beans and greens, myself. I eat about 200 pounds of beans and 500 pounds of greens a year. What greens do I eat? Whichever one is the cheapest and freshest at the moment.
I heard Howard Stern say that he was feeling ill and went to a doctor who found out that Howard was eating salmon once or twice a day because he was trying to be healthy. The doctor took a mercury blood level and discovered he had mercury poisoning because of all the salmon!!!
Thanks for all of these McDougall interviews. I am happy he addressed the triglyceride topic. I have had triglycerides around 160-180 every time I do bloodwork. Other than that, my lipid profile is usually ideal with total cholesterol around 150. Because I am a personal trainer and drummer, my whole day is physically active, so I need more simple carbs to function optimally in the form of fruit and some table sugar on my oats in the morning. I know McDougall promotes less fruit than what I eat. I have been aware of his recommendations and follow them for the most part but include a modest amount of fat each day in the form of an ounce or two of nuts and seeds, probably 5-10 servings of fruit and a couple of tablespoons of refined sugar on my oats in the morning. Aside from that, its starch based with some vegetables. I do rather well with this approach after years of experimentation. My weight/height ratio has been great, blood pressure great, everything else is great when I do bloodwork but I have always been concerned with the borderline level triglycerides. I'll continue to tweak things but I don't want my performance to suffer by not including more fruit and simple carbs. Thanks again for bringing him on. Lastly, I would love to see McDougall discuss the Kempner diet in more detail. I know he has tons of videos on him and I've probably seen them all. Specifically his recommendation of refined sugar and fruit has confused me for some time. He champions Kempner who used white rice, white sugar and fruit to treat kidney patients, etc but will then talk about refined products such as these being bad in one lecture and good in another for various reasons. It is a bit confusing. For someone in my position who does better "performance/energy wise" including refined products, is this setting me up for problems down the line?
Aw man, I LOVE my Soda Stream. I blended a watermelon and (against the soda stream safety warnings) carbonated it. 100% unreal it was so good. I drank a gallon of it today, lol. "Harmony House" Mary;)
For kids, I think of these little gnocchi with potatoes and masa or whole wheat flour, brown them in a scanpan. Served as tater tots with ketchup is great! And with any sort of sauce, they're delicious. I suppose you could boil them like pasta, but I always preferred the dry skillet. On a very low fire, I put as many as will fit, and I put the lid on, so they brown slightly while they steam about 20 minutes, flipping after 12 minutes. And speaking of the cheese question..... I have made a sauce with walnuts and nutritional yeast, and served over those gnocchi??? DELICIOUS! And RICH. Hungry kids? Make 'em some gnocchi pasta with a nut-based sauce. They will be as satiated as if you ordered Domino's Pizza!
@@ihartsacto I just use what seems right to get the right texture, as you would with semolina-potato gnocchi. It should end up firm like a pie crust dough.
I'm a little confused about the Choline being Toxic to your arteries. If that is the case with eggs and on the opposite side of the slide you also had listed non-animal products containing Choline as well, then doesn't that mean that those foods are also as toxic as the egg? So where do you draw the line? Is it a certain amount of Choline only? Because if having any amount of Choline is toxic to your arteries I'd say with that logic you shouldn't consume any foods that contain Choline at all?
Love Dr. McDougall and these Chef AJ interviews! However, buying eggs supports terrible cruelty, the details of which I will not go into. There is much more suffering in an omelet than a hamburger. I am trying to think of ideas for what can be substituted for eggs for dying as a fun activity for kids. Maybe tee shirts or bandanas or something the kids can keep and wear?
Easy food for children( everything is organic) ...Hummus with veggies like cucumbers,bell peppers,cherry tomatoes, olives,zucchini,sprinkle with nuts.etc...kamut cereal with almond milk,raisins and bananas...a date cut in half remove the seed(pit)stuff with almond butter...and mashed avocado toast these are some very easy foods to feed children or anyone.
Dr. McDougall once someone is on dialysis David’s here in CA just pushes the protein to deal with their anemia. It scares their patients into cramming in meat.
I wouldn't say excess protein cannot be stored as protein, but except for protein that is stored as muscle when you stress muscles and force them to enlarge, excess protein can be used to provide energy, stored as carbohydrate (glycogen in the liver for example) or, you guessed it - it can stored as fat in fatty deposits in various places on the body. While those stored carbohydrates and stored lipids can be used to provide energy, getting energy by first converting proteins to carbohydrates or lipid and then utilizing these for energy, is a less efficient and more toxic way of getting energy than by getting energy directly from carbohydrates, or even by getting it from fats you have eaten that you convert to carbohydrates.

For me I find I need to eat more salads for good digestion. If I eat potatoes as often and in such quantity as the McDougals do I’m bloated and uncomfortable. Your thoughts?

That's the sulfur in the egg white. Sulfur is another element essential for life and depleted in soil by overfarming. That's why the doctor approves of what he calls herbal supplementation. MSM was on that list. It is a great source of sulfur. It is also synthesized artificially. But of everything you could take, MSM is one of the essentials. And it is safe as water.
@@abbygailhavel3655 if you have persistently high triglycerides. eat your starches in their most intact form. and try to walk more. When I had high triglycerides a few years ago, it was because I was not exercising enough. When I started making an intense effort to walk., it got better. I was in the habit of walking one and a half miles three times a day. And sometimes I would do three miles three times a day. As much as I had time for, and was in shape for. And this lowered my triglycerides very quickly. My cholesterol level went down too.

This is a LONG video.... So I comment accordingly, lol. Just Egg is about 65% fat by calories, and 30% protein. Frankly, for nutritional purposes, I (a dietitian) would rather see you eat actual eggs, than fake vegan foods; they are THAT bad for you. Or, if you're looking for a satisfying alternative, make yourself a tofu and smashed white bean (canned cannellini beans) scramble. Toss in some green onions and top with mashed avocado, and a fresh or jarred salsa. You won't miss eggs, after that, trust me;)
Nice to see you wearing a red top. I grew up with chickens that our neighbor raised. My mom bought brown shelled eggs and left me a soft boiled egg every morning before going to work. I would throw them away outside in the empty lot next door. I loved the baby chicks but never thought eggs people Ste would have been chicks. Yuk! It took me as an adult to eat an egg. As far as chicken, we ate chicken once a year that mom bought live from the neighbor. The egg photo on your McDougall site was not pleasant to look at. I’ve always said I’m not vegan for my health, I love the passion in this video. The truth is there are a number of double blind randomized studies that suggest an egg a day does not have adverse effects. Check pubmed for yourself. Industrial farming on the other hand is terrible for everyone.
I love Dr McDougall - however - I lost a bit of respect - as weel as taken off guard when he mentions dying Easter Eggs - with his family - then suggests if anyone has eggs left over - throw them in the garbage disposal - WHY dye real eggs to simply waste? - perhaps instead make our stance at Easter - Easter is not the Egg or Egg dying or Egg hunt - how about lets do our part and make it viral to NOT dye eggs for Easter fun - but teach our grandchildren being cruel to the chickens that lay them - iis part of saving the earth -
I can't dedicate 3+ hours to a video. I watched a little beyond the discussion of LDL going high if eggs are eaten. There are 4 kinds of LDL, dense and "fluffy" being a generalized term...was the difference ever discussed? The dense being much worse than the "fluffy".
I never just sit and watch a video or read a book. I have it on while cooking, cleaning, sewing, etc. I’m a real multitasker and an audiobook listener. I get lots done that way.
I am 5'2" 191 lbs., and 68 yrs old. Jan.20, 2022 I had knee surgery because of menicus tears and a torn ligament. I am still struggling to walk and climb stairs. I have rheumatoid arthritis, osteo arthritis, fibromyalgia, severe carpal tunnel, meralgia paresthetica, and I am borderline diabetic. I need a program that can prepare the food I need and help me rehabilitate. I can't stand long enough to fix healthy food. I ache from my hip to my toes. I can no longer drive a car because it is my right knee that is damaged. Covid shut down every place that use to offer 30 day programs. Thanks for an enjoyable interview.
Important! Before changing your diet, make sure that none of your medications are contraindicated with, for example, a high vitamin K diet with Warfarin, or any other food you'll be eating. My advice? Get a minifridge, a small chest freezer, a small microwave, and a smallish air fryer. Safely set them up as a "kitchenette" near your resting area (have smoke alarms and a nice fire extinguisher always, and get that stuff installed properly for safety) and get in the habit of tossing in sweet potatoes, carrots, fresh-frozen beans and peas, corn, steamtable packs of freezer veggies, and fresh and/or frozen fruit. Try to get someone to help you set that up. The Pyrex glassware is indispensable for microwaving, and can go in the air fryer at lower temperatures. Corelle dishware is also very lightweight, and would come in handy;) If you have any questions, please ask:) Good luck! Where there's a will, there's a way! Ooh! Also....VERY nice to have for a quick meal, a popcorn air-popper! Get some lightweight wooden bowls to make it easy. Just don't do like I did a couple months ago, and break a tooth on an unpopped kernel...ugh. I once lived with a man (as a live-in dietitian...he was wealthy, god rest his soul) who literally was stuck in bed from a stroke, and he could pop in a potato from his bed, right in the microwave! He also kept canned beans nearby, and ate them straight from the can;) Same with steamtable veggies. Just toss the bag in the microwave, zap it, wait a few minutes for it to cool a bit, and there it is. If you can manage to eat a calorically dilute diet, the weight should FLY off of you, and your arthritis will be so much easier to cope with, just because you're 30 or 50 pounds lighter. Beans and green/orange vegetables are probably the best thing you can eat right now. good luck:)

I ate very little and sometimes no meat products for years. Then I got serious about weight loss, so I doubled down on veganism. Well... my body rebelled, digestion got messed up from nose to tail, ended up in the hospital with GERD, gastritis, excess stomach acid. Had to go low inflammation and live on bone broth for a while. Tried reintroducing veg, but it tore my guts up. Now eating carnivore. Not excited about it. I miss fruits and veg, but my body is giving a bit NOPE when I try reintroducing it. Bacon and eggs, however, cause no inflammation in my gut. Enjoy the veg. Anyway, I'm slow healing and getting stronger.

I'm a simple man. I see a new McDougall video, I click on it.
Eggs are not baby chickens unless fertilised by a rooster. The egg industry does not keep roosters to fertilise the eggs, therefore baby chicks are not killed by eating eggs. I keep backyard chickens with no rooster, my hubby eats eggs. I don't but my chickens are cared for, and are allowed room to move, they have a good life.
I actually wasn't aware for the longest time, but to get the hens that they use in the egg industry, they obviously have to fertilize eggs. Approximately half of the chickens that come out of those eggs are male. They can't use the males, so they actually get killed. In the US the preferred method is killing them by maceration, which basically translates to putting them through a high speed blender.
True, eggs you buy at the grocery store are not fertile. However baby chicks ARE KILLED because you buy hens and your husband eats eggs. Female chickens are the ones who lay eggs. Male chicks are not needed so they are disposed of. You may think that your hens were created by a mother hen that only laid female eggs, but that is a false belief. Their brothers were killed because they don't sell and they don't lay eggs. Your hens will lay for a while , then their egg production will lessen and eventually stop, and you will have a flock of hens that don't lay eggs. What are going to do with them? Feed them and have no eggs? Where do you think your new hens will come from, from a hen that lays only female eggs? Nope, the male chicks that are born are not needed...and no one sends them to a happy rooster camp to live out their lives.
@@jean6453 I do realise the process of chicken breeding and the ratio of pullets to cockerels in fertilised eggs, and I am horrified that the chicken farming industry culls the male chicks this way. I was merely referring to Dr MacDougals statement that when eating eggs you're eating chicken embryos, which is only the case if the eggs were fertilised. I only keep a small flock of bantam breeds which lay sporadically, when they cease production which won't be for several more years, I will keep them as pets until they die a natural death. As I wasn't a vegan when I initially bought my hens, I didn't want to sell them when I became vegan because that is irresponsible pet ownership. I will not be replacing my hens when they have passed on, so will not be perpetuating the cycle. Thanks for your input.

Living in Arizona currently, we are so fortunate to have a "Ready/Set/Go" protocol for our wildfire danger and evacuations. We have a wildfire burning as we speak, but we feel that our state is handling everything brilliantly. I can not believe that California let the McDougall's and other residents stay in their homes until they only had 5 minutes to escape the flames! Crazy!! No wonder they moved...
Concerning omega 3 plant sources: Brassicas (aka mustards) grow as weeds around people and are a great source of ala omega 3. Maybe Mother Nature is giving us a hint? Also, squashes, melons and beans are great sources of ala omega 3s too.

Eggs are such important topic. Even bring a vegetarian for years it took me decades to find out I shouldn’t be eating eggs and dairy. Now I’m a plant based vegan but wish I would have know decades ago. The education is a real gift to the planet and people who get to hear it.
Eggs are one of the healthiest foods we can eat. They provide saturated fats and cholesterol in the right amounts to us which we absolutely need. This is not education, this is anti-scientific ideology.
I was losing my hair on the Standard American Diet, at age 20. When I fixed my diet, my hair grew back.

hey, me too! I went really heavy on the beans and greens, myself. I eat about 200 pounds of beans and 500 pounds of greens a year. What greens do I eat? Whichever one is the cheapest and freshest at the moment.

Salmon was the last animal food I stopped eating. When I quit it, my cholesterol level and blood pressure FINALLY dropped to normal.
I heard Howard Stern say that he was feeling ill and went to a doctor who found out that Howard was eating salmon once or twice a day because he was trying to be healthy. The doctor took a mercury blood level and discovered he had mercury poisoning because of all the salmon!!!

Thanks for all of these McDougall interviews. I am happy he addressed the triglyceride topic. I have had triglycerides around 160-180 every time I do bloodwork. Other than that, my lipid profile is usually ideal with total cholesterol around 150. Because I am a personal trainer and drummer, my whole day is physically active, so I need more simple carbs to function optimally in the form of fruit and some table sugar on my oats in the morning. I know McDougall promotes less fruit than what I eat. I have been aware of his recommendations and follow them for the most part but include a modest amount of fat each day in the form of an ounce or two of nuts and seeds, probably 5-10 servings of fruit and a couple of tablespoons of refined sugar on my oats in the morning. Aside from that, its starch based with some vegetables. I do rather well with this approach after years of experimentation. My weight/height ratio has been great, blood pressure great, everything else is great when I do bloodwork but I have always been concerned with the borderline level triglycerides. I'll continue to tweak things but I don't want my performance to suffer by not including more fruit and simple carbs. Thanks again for bringing him on. Lastly, I would love to see McDougall discuss the Kempner diet in more detail. I know he has tons of videos on him and I've probably seen them all. Specifically his recommendation of refined sugar and fruit has confused me for some time. He champions Kempner who used white rice, white sugar and fruit to treat kidney patients, etc but will then talk about refined products such as these being bad in one lecture and good in another for various reasons. It is a bit confusing. For someone in my position who does better "performance/energy wise" including refined products, is this setting me up for problems down the line?

For kids, I think of these little gnocchi with potatoes and masa or whole wheat flour, brown them in a scanpan. Served as tater tots with ketchup is great! And with any sort of sauce, they're delicious. I suppose you could boil them like pasta, but I always preferred the dry skillet. On a very low fire, I put as many as will fit, and I put the lid on, so they brown slightly while they steam about 20 minutes, flipping after 12 minutes. And speaking of the cheese question..... I have made a sauce with walnuts and nutritional yeast, and served over those gnocchi??? DELICIOUS! And RICH. Hungry kids? Make 'em some gnocchi pasta with a nut-based sauce. They will be as satiated as if you ordered Domino's Pizza!

I'm a little confused about the Choline being Toxic to your arteries. If that is the case with eggs and on the opposite side of the slide you also had listed non-animal products containing Choline as well, then doesn't that mean that those foods are also as toxic as the egg? So where do you draw the line? Is it a certain amount of Choline only? Because if having any amount of Choline is toxic to your arteries I'd say with that logic you shouldn't consume any foods that contain Choline at all?
At about 45 minutes in, Dr. McDougall explains how vegans don't have the bacteria to convert choline into the substances damaging to the arteries.
Love Dr. McDougall and these Chef AJ interviews! However, buying eggs supports terrible cruelty, the details of which I will not go into. There is much more suffering in an omelet than a hamburger. I am trying to think of ideas for what can be substituted for eggs for dying as a fun activity for kids. Maybe tee shirts or bandanas or something the kids can keep and wear?

Easy food for children( everything is organic) ...Hummus with veggies like cucumbers,bell peppers,cherry tomatoes, olives,zucchini,sprinkle with nuts.etc...kamut cereal with almond milk,raisins and bananas...a date cut in half remove the seed(pit)stuff with almond butter...and mashed avocado toast these are some very easy foods to feed children or anyone.

Dr. McDougall once someone is on dialysis David’s here in CA just pushes the protein to deal with their anemia. It scares their patients into cramming in meat.
I wouldn't say excess protein cannot be stored as protein, but except for protein that is stored as muscle when you stress muscles and force them to enlarge, excess protein can be used to provide energy, stored as carbohydrate (glycogen in the liver for example) or, you guessed it - it can stored as fat in fatty deposits in various places on the body. While those stored carbohydrates and stored lipids can be used to provide energy, getting energy by first converting proteins to carbohydrates or lipid and then utilizing these for energy, is a less efficient and more toxic way of getting energy than by getting energy directly from carbohydrates, or even by getting it from fats you have eaten that you convert to carbohydrates.

That's the sulfur in the egg white. Sulfur is another element essential for life and depleted in soil by overfarming. That's why the doctor approves of what he calls herbal supplementation. MSM was on that list. It is a great source of sulfur. It is also synthesized artificially. But of everything you could take, MSM is one of the essentials. And it is safe as water.

@@abbygailhavel3655 if you have persistently high triglycerides. eat your starches in their most intact form. and try to walk more. When I had high triglycerides a few years ago, it was because I was not exercising enough. When I started making an intense effort to walk., it got better. I was in the habit of walking one and a half miles three times a day. And sometimes I would do three miles three times a day. As much as I had time for, and was in shape for. And this lowered my triglycerides very quickly. My cholesterol level went down too.

This is a LONG video.... So I comment accordingly, lol. Just Egg is about 65% fat by calories, and 30% protein. Frankly, for nutritional purposes, I (a dietitian) would rather see you eat actual eggs, than fake vegan foods; they are THAT bad for you. Or, if you're looking for a satisfying alternative, make yourself a tofu and smashed white bean (canned cannellini beans) scramble. Toss in some green onions and top with mashed avocado, and a fresh or jarred salsa. You won't miss eggs, after that, trust me;)
Since eggs are the one animal product I would like to eat (but never will again) I do eat a tofu scramble and enjoy it.
Avocados are expensive here in the frozen north and I know of people who have developed an allergy to them from overeating them.
Nice to see you wearing a red top. I grew up with chickens that our neighbor raised. My mom bought brown shelled eggs and left me a soft boiled egg every morning before going to work. I would throw them away outside in the empty lot next door. I loved the baby chicks but never thought eggs people Ste would have been chicks. Yuk! It took me as an adult to eat an egg. As far as chicken, we ate chicken once a year that mom bought live from the neighbor. The egg photo on your McDougall site was not pleasant to look at. I’ve always said I’m not vegan for my health, I love the passion in this video. The truth is there are a number of double blind randomized studies that suggest an egg a day does not have adverse effects. Check pubmed for yourself. Industrial farming on the other hand is terrible for everyone.
I love Dr McDougall - however - I lost a bit of respect - as weel as taken off guard when he mentions dying Easter Eggs - with his family - then suggests if anyone has eggs left over - throw them in the garbage disposal - WHY dye real eggs to simply waste? - perhaps instead make our stance at Easter - Easter is not the Egg or Egg dying or Egg hunt - how about lets do our part and make it viral to NOT dye eggs for Easter fun - but teach our grandchildren being cruel to the chickens that lay them - iis part of saving the earth -

I am 5'2" 191 lbs., and 68 yrs old. Jan.20, 2022 I had knee surgery because of menicus tears and a torn ligament. I am still struggling to walk and climb stairs. I have rheumatoid arthritis, osteo arthritis, fibromyalgia, severe carpal tunnel, meralgia paresthetica, and I am borderline diabetic. I need a program that can prepare the food I need and help me rehabilitate. I can't stand long enough to fix healthy food. I ache from my hip to my toes. I can no longer drive a car because it is my right knee that is damaged. Covid shut down every place that use to offer 30 day programs. Thanks for an enjoyable interview.
Important! Before changing your diet, make sure that none of your medications are contraindicated with, for example, a high vitamin K diet with Warfarin, or any other food you'll be eating.
My advice? Get a minifridge, a small chest freezer, a small microwave, and a smallish air fryer. Safely set them up as a "kitchenette" near your resting area (have smoke alarms and a nice fire extinguisher always, and get that stuff installed properly for safety) and get in the habit of tossing in sweet potatoes, carrots, fresh-frozen beans and peas, corn, steamtable packs of freezer veggies, and fresh and/or frozen fruit. Try to get someone to help you set that up.
The Pyrex glassware is indispensable for microwaving, and can go in the air fryer at lower temperatures. Corelle dishware is also very lightweight, and would come in handy;)

Ooh! Also....VERY nice to have for a quick meal, a popcorn air-popper! Get some lightweight wooden bowls to make it easy. Just don't do like I did a couple months ago, and break a tooth on an unpopped kernel...ugh.
I once lived with a man (as a live-in dietitian...he was wealthy, god rest his soul) who literally was stuck in bed from a stroke, and he could pop in a potato from his bed, right in the microwave! He also kept canned beans nearby, and ate them straight from the can;) Same with steamtable veggies. Just toss the bag in the microwave, zap it, wait a few minutes for it to cool a bit, and there it is.
If you can manage to eat a calorically dilute diet, the weight should FLY off of you, and your arthritis will be so much easier to cope with, just because you're 30 or 50 pounds lighter. Beans and green/orange vegetables are probably the best thing you can eat right now.

The diet in each blue zone was different. There is no one blue zone diet. However, all of the diets were predominantly plant based.

I could make an argument that egg whites are even worse for you than the yolks. They contain substances which promote heart disease and cancer.
