These comments are so petty you guys, I found out about doing this show a half a day before and had only a 2 minute slot to perform-this isn't a freestyle nor did Megan say it was a freestyle. And if you think it's boring then why did you watch it live & watch it again on RUclips to say how much you don't like it. I'm sure I don't like a ton of choreography that you probably love but I don't spend my time commenting on how much I dislike it-art is subjective so whatever you hate someone else loves. So what's the point of pretending to be a critic just cuz you have a RUclips account c'mon man.

I can't believeeeee folks are on here hating like HE IS SO MUSICAL. Yall prolly dont like the music but this man's musicality is off the charts. The way he chooses to smoothly dance on certain parts and hit the beats on others?? I can literally tell when a choregraphy is his because his style is too unique for me to not recognize it. I be like "yup, that's Ian". So um, yall fake critics need to sit down. Yall probably be the same people like "Aw, ballet is a dying art form... Music aint the same... I was born in the wrong generation". So pretentious, and not open minded enough to recognize this raw talent.
If you want musicality, check out fik shun. Dont get me wrong, I dislike hate but his musicality isnt insane

Just a quick thought or two from an old man:
This performance was at Universal Studios CityWalk LA-- no one in the audience that day was searching for GREAT ART haha Ian has an absolute arsenal of more thought-provoking cerebral pieces of work that he can pull out at any notice. Vic Mensa creates lots of music that is dramatically different from this, but the CHOREOGRAPHY (not 'freestyle" as Blazhin Blasian mistated--which Megan never said) suits the style of the song---which is arguably the goal.
youtube--as well as all of social media-is loaded with a zillion armchair critics--and of course we have been gifted with free speech(the great defense of people that think they can say anything they want)
But I have 2 suggestions:
1).By all means,have an opinion--but make it an INFORMED one--have SOME idea what you are talking about
2). Try to create something yourself--put YOURSELF out there-stop doing the easy thing-hiding behind your computer

Honestly, for the people that say most of Ian's fans are teenage girls. You're very wrong, a lot of guys watch him and if you think that hes not a good dancer, you're wrong again. I really like his style and dance has no rules so you can do whatever you want, theres no right or wrong. Ian Westwood is one of a few people who got me interested in dance.

I've met with Ian many times and was able to learn a lot from him and his parents too whom are amazing parents. I can't speak for Ian but I can relate as a choreographer or dancer In general that it's very difficult to get to where he is now cause i am dancing my butt off everyday all day to get there. He's worked super hard to get to where he is now and deserves every credibility and fame he gets. We all know what Ian can do from telling stories in his piece to creating sick metaphors that only a few can point out like in his sweatpants piece with the family name part where he took his name and threw it on the ground that was sick. Disliking the way he dances is saying you dislike him because his pieces came from him. I know there is many dances i see from people that i don't like but at the end of the day if it came from you and you're happy then i respect that cause that is what dancing is all about. Spreading the joy to others and its the little things that count. Ian is just chillin in this video and having fun with the fans. By the way I know some amazing choreographers who arent good at free-styling and i know freestylers who suck at choreographing its not something new. Haters going to hate because theyre behind the computer and jealous cause they want the fame but dont wanna put the hard work into it.

Granted, this dude will never have the freestyle musicality flow of someone like lets say, Fik-Shun, but hes a DAMN GOOD choreographer. Some of you with no ears were just not "feeeling dat"

I dont know him, all i have to base my judgement of ian eastwood is this performance, and i can say with pride as a dancer that this kind of dancing, the kind famous artists with no talent for dancing made popular to other teens who follow such trends is not something i consider skillfull or artistic, its base comes from a very loose style of dancing like a drunk man trying to dance locking, ian in this performance just sped it up and did things with the balance of a good dancer, but as for the music and the dancing, mr eastwood is a creation of the millions of talentless wannabe dancers who give in to this trend since it is easy to do and requires no skill whatsoever, so they idolize guys like ian who can dance, for stooping to their level and doing a basic dance sped up in an attempt to make it seem sophisticated. Mr Ian i highly suggest you stick to the real dances all the other dancers did on stage, that dancing only took place as fillers and fan service.

It's the music. You dance according to the feeling of the music which is why this looked more on the lax side. Not a bad thing to make a chill routine every no and again but if you want a more intricate or har-hitting dance, check out some of his other vids :D
I like how everyone of the haters disregards musicality and concept in dance versus the obvious fan base. ART IS ART and for an opinion to matter, please have a valid point instead of saying Ian does the same stuff in all of his freestyles... Obviously you DON'T choreograph cuz then you would understand that THOUGHT got put into his moves. There's always going to be people that disapprove only because they have failed to prove themselves to some degree! Keep it up Ian!! Good SHIT!!!

One I'm not hating, i was at the event and it was said that he would do a freestyle. That's what Megan batoon called it... A "freestyle" so I mean defend your argument all you want it was supposed to be a freestyle. Second off the only time I watch Ian is when he's with mos wanted and that's about it. I don't watch him often but to see him pull this sort of shit made me really question his freestyle abilities and am hoping that he choreographs next time he comes to a WOD event.
Blazhin Blasian Megan did state it as a freestyle,but I personally believed she used the wrong term. This was definitely a choreographed piece to "Feel That". He has great freestyle skills,but as a dancer its not about the technical aspects. It's about having fun and not trying to be like everyone else.
Blazhin Blasian he doesn't make money freestyling you idiot. freestyling is a craft that you must practice to master.. so how the bloody fuck can you question someone's ability on something they don't do that often... or neccessarily need to do period.
To be honest all I see is fan girls screaming over him. All I see him do is act like he has seizures and move his legs. His unique dance style is more of a club like dance style. I'd rather watch someone who can actually dance rather then club dance, Fik shun, Les Twins, Btrix etc saying he's the future of dance kills me. Because I like watching people dance.

Ls Terrestrial: It is 3 years later and they were right. He was the future of dance and his style is now famous and not just because of fan girls. Actually they have calmed down and he is popular with as many guys as girls.

Well for those who are commenting negatives about this performance, this piece, those so called "critics?" Have you checked the texture of this piece? The musicality? The CONTROL!? Wordplay? The pathways? Say what you want about Ian Eastwood but before you do, check if you're art is nearly as good as his. Just sayin'
Idk why people are going so hard on this choreography. News Flash (and all REAL dancers know this) it's particularly difficult to go from hard hitting precision choreography to groovy and fun; those are 2 way different styles. Plus it was a SPECIAL GUEST performance. We all know Ian is a great dancer so instead of giving the crowd an extra thought provoking routine, he just went out there and had fun and so did the crowd and when you think about it, isn't that why we dance in the first place. So just sit back and have some fun. It really isn't that deep.

what did you expect guys? A piece with a slow and sad song and the crowd's final crying?! If I go to WOD I'd like to have fun and see some fresh choreographies like Ian's one! If you want to see some touching or more serious pieces go to his channel! I don't critic a dancer/singer/actor or whatever you want after seeing just one of his work!

I love how he dances. I actually think he's one of the best but I agree with some of the comments on here. His moves are getting repetitive, it's like I'm watching the same choreography to a different song with Ian these days. Just lacking a bit of creativity. I'll still watch it though because he's that damn good of a dancer.

He moves like he means it and (in my opinion, cause it is just an opinion) it is an awesome thing to watch his freeing movements and uninhibited performance. Dance should be moving your body in unexpected ways, feeling the music and being open to it. He is a very unique, don't give him crap for expressing himself in most ways people would be terrified to do so. You can clearly see he loves it, what if someone ragged on something you loved to do?
