Rather than looking to technology to extend the life of modern industrial civilization we ought to be looking at its ability to buy time and to slow us down in the transition. We need to look towards our feet. Literally look down at the land under our feet. It is our life’s blood. We need to build resiliency in our homes and community. We should be thinking about adaptation, conservation, land stewardship, and feeding ourselves. We need to decouple our survival from global supply chains wherever and whenever possible.

@@megaphonistanofficial1773 The transition is coming whether we like it or not. Just because the situation continues to get worse doesn’t mean we should give up or stop trying to slow the pace. Mitigation and adaptation are the only means of survival for the human race. I’m not so interested in preserving what we typically think of as civilization. We existed on this planet for hundreds of thousands of years without it. I’m more interested in making the transition or collapse as humane as possible. The slower the better. Unless you are in the Derrick Jensen camp of just tearing it all down ASAP. He may be right that it would be better for the planet but it would be hell on earth for the almost 8 billion humans if that happens.

Structural change may appear to change in 6 months, but it requires a long period of build up. As an analogy remember the penetration of mobile phones in the UK. In 1993 almost no one had one, by 1955 almost everyone had one. However, the first mobile phone was sold in 1984. That 6 month transformation had a 10 year build up.

Can I just personally try to communicate that there ARE nations that DO ACT way beyond the Paris climate agreement and DO better than average while doing it. Dont listen to what your politicians SAY, but what they DO, when it comes to this.
Whatever nation you are in. Please hold your own nations climate efforts up against what has been decided in Denmark. Denmark ARE leading the way for Western industrialized nations!
Let me inform/remind you. The basic promise, all in the Paris climate agreement have signed onto are: 50% reduction of greenhouse gasses (like CO2 and Methane) from 1990 level, before 2050.
In Denmark we KNOW that this demand fulfilled are NOT ENOUGH to halt the climate changes already set in motion. It makes me proud to say that Denmark, in 2019, approved in parlament with 167 for, out of 179, to voluntarily, nationwide, reduce CO2 emissions with 70% from 1990 level before 2030!
That is just 9 years from now! Inside the same decision the Danish parlament also have agreed that Denmark are NOT allowing themselves to buy CO2 quotas to deliver the result "on paper". It has to be a genuine and real reduction.
So its a massive improvement and what the climate and the global population needs that ALL countries do. THAT is how you TAKE RESPONSIBILITY! On top of that, Denmark have oil in its underground and they have, approved in parlament a few months ago. Valid immediately, to also decide to stop their planned oilsector explorations and have decided that any oil in their underground are going to be stored CO2 that never will be released.
They keep their current oil platforms (under the Paris agreement) but have decided to decommission platforms either, as they get to old or the wells they have under them run dry. Denmarks change away from fossile fuels have been focused on land and off shore windmills. Off shore windmill parks are large scale where they are going. The overall vision are to be more than 100% selfsustained with sustainable green energy and usage and eventually export both sustainable electricity and hydrogen.
Denmark would be able to ramp up our plans considerably reg. sustainable electricity and hydrogen production pretty fast if other nations or companies would commit to same longterm deals as they do on oil. Our decades long experience raising off shore windmill parks means we have the knowledgeable workforce to respond relatively fast and the newest generations of off shore windmills are producing KVW considerably cheaper than just a few years ago.
The entire globes energy (electricity and hydrogen incl. if all cars ran hydrogen) need could easily be covered by off shore windmills. It REALLY makes no sense we dont, once and for all, take the principle decision to do just that inside a very short year-span. It would create a global supergrowth periode and after doing that or even at same time we could build a global continent connecting vaccum based hyperloop, let a global supergrid follow same route and a space elevator. These 4 decisions would have the ability to improve ALL our lifes, restore conditions for us and biodiversity and significantly improve our lifes without destroying our habitat.
A global mega decision on raising off shore windmills would also be a lifesaver for our oceans. I have privately dived at Danish off shore windmill foundations and they function as artificial reefs and create living space for first mussles and seaweed and that leads to living conditions for smaller fish, the bottom (foundation) for the marine foodchain.
It is estimated that over 20% of global marine life are directly linked to global coral reefs and these are under pressure because of global warmer water and experience increasing bleaching events that eventually can kill the reefs off. Maybe industrial seaweed production, that Denmark experiment with, can reduce the natural gas production in cows and thus again have another positive spin off that create jobs and allow us to continue to eat meat with less negative impact.
In my book it is bad business for us all if we dont speed these things up NOW where we DO have the tech and the solutions. We know that the planets regulating weather/water systems dont respond to negative or positive changes overnight, so the current decline will take time to reverse, we ought to have made radical changes 20 years ago. NO time to waste! Enough talk, lets ACT!
IF ANY politician in your nation claims it would cost your nation "to much" to act as science proves we HAVE TO, then show them this!
The fossile fuel industry STILL in 2021, are the globally most subsidized sector, not even close to be a free market. At least dont use taxpayer money to destroy our planet!
WHY SPEND ever increasing taxpayer money to repair ever increasing symptom of climate change, floods, draughts, climate refugees, consequences of deforestation, the decrease in living landmasses due to raising waters, desertification etc. etc. I wanna INVEST in transforming our energy production and usage to a sustainable one.
WE WILL have to do the INVESTMENTS to transform under all circumstances but makes no sense to wait and just increase the bill by having to pay for the ever increasing costs by waiting. Acting NOW are the best INVESTMENT we can make for ourselves. It will be a huge economic growth and jobcreator on top. It is NOT a matter of living on a stone but a matter of TRANSFORMING how we do things. LOOK at Denmark! It IS being done with succes here!

Right. The civil rights and women's right to vote movements had concrete goals. Where's the specificity here? We can't just demand "less carbon emissions" even though that is what we want. We use carbon for our survival in extremely complex ways. We need concrete alternatives to demand - not vague ideals. This talk lays out a great methodology for demanding change, but it sorely lacks any specific goals in terms of HOW we can get off fossil fuel dependency.
Probably the MOST effective thing would be for everyone to refuse to consume the products of animal agriculture.
But the situation is not one in which governments have alternatives that can be changed as easily as racist or misogynist ideologies. Our climate crisis is very difficult to resolve even if the governments are willing to try. We need to demand specific solutions.

The challenge as I see it is how to redesign the economy works so that the market is free only at the point of sale, not at the point of production (so no free stock of fish, forests or minerals) or at the point of consumption (so no free disposal of carbon, plastic or any other pollution).
Since the Bank of England’s creation 300 years ago ‘the market’ has been busy consuming natural capital under the assumption that it was inexhaustible. Logically ridiculous but practicable as any future problem would be solved by the inflicted generations many years down the line. As population and consumption levels have grown the practicality of that assumption has shrivelled rapidly; the inflicted generations are now walking on the Earth.
Time is, indeed, short. But unless we start to talk about how we make money (rather than how we distribute it), we won't make any progress toward avoiding breakdown.

Such a vitally important message yet only 70,000 subscribers...
The human condition, as history has told us time and time again, means that no action will be taken until it's either already irreparably broken or its already too late to change anything without mass causalities - none more so than now.
People in general are not impacted enough to be concerned. Too many people shouting out the tale of "Peter and the Wolf".
This is not how I feel, BTW. However, while people feel "I'm Alright Jack", little in the way of active change will happen. Believing otherwise fails to understand the selfishness of people in general. Appealing to what little conscience people have when the going is still OK for them in general, will be a very tough challenge indeed - maybe even futile.
Anyway, I hope you succeed in waking people up to themselves.

I dont see any of those options as viable. But I am pretty sure I can predict to you what WILL happen. Its always been plan A for many governments of the world. Doing business as usual until the very last moment when basically everybody realizes whats going on and starts demanding change. At that point some government will pop up and quickly offer a solution in the form of geoengineering. The others will either follow along or go to war over it. And it will work. Climate change will be averted. At least temporarily. Humanity will see this as an excuse to do the same shit it was always doing. Watch as I wave my magic wand, change the winds, end the droughts, cool the oceans, make temperatures and weather milder globally and crush atmospheric carbon dioxide levels, without any change in global carbon dioxide emissions.
    It's already happening.
Differential solar heating of surfaces drives atmospheric circulation, which drives the weather.
Warmer air holds more moisture than cooler air.
If increasing atmospheric greenhouse gases increase temperatures, we should see more regular precipitation, but instead we're told that the greenhouse effect somehow leads to drought, irregular precipitation and severe weather.
Discussions about atmospheric carbon dioxide usually omit that carbon dioxide is readily soluble in water.
Discussions about the carbon cycle mainly focus on the photosynthesis pathway but ignore the precipitation pathway.
A good rainstorm will scrub and sequester more atmospheric carbon dioxide than any machine could at a billion times the cost of nothing.
Yes, I know that a billion times zero is zero, but it was rhetorical.
If warmer temperatures lead to more atmospheric moisture and atmospheric circulation drives the rain, more regular rain should sequester more atmospheric carbon dioxide, and atmospheric levels shouldn't rise enough to increase temperatures.
Maybe something else is breaking the cycle.
When I was in grade school back in the seventies, the teacher who taught Earth Science was very thorough about how the water cycle works and how weather is driven. She explained that drought is the result of obstruction to air circulation. Something blocks the air from moving, and when air doesn't move, heat doesn't move.
If warm air rises because it is less dense than cooler air, what prevents warm air from rising?
Convection requires atmospheric instability, which entails an environmental lapse rate that is greater than the adiabatic lapse rate. When the lapse rate is less than the adiabatic lapse rate, warm air will only rise so far until something increases the lapse rate. When the lapse rate is inverted (a temperature inversion), convection is blocked, surfaces heat up and everything dries up.
Conditions resulting from drought (erosion, thinned vegetation) open up more room for air to flow and eventually eliminate the drought.
Ten years ago, I discovered a man-made temperature inversion in the Millet Swale watershed, at 6000 feet elevation, southeast of Snowflake, Arizona.
The temperature inversion put excess pressure on the watershed, which put excess pressure on connected watersheds.
Millet Swale connects to the Silver Creek watershed, which connects to Little Colorado River... Colorado River... Lake Mead... Las Vegas... Phoenix... and the rest of the Colorado River Basin... Pacific Ocean... the Mississippi River watershed... Gulf of Mexico... Atlantic Ocean...
    Need I go on?
Hello, Southwest Drought! Hello, Climate Change!
The inversion was deliberately engineered and maintained, to alter the local microclimate.
I have worked on eliminating the inversion for the past decade. Meteorological records of the past decade reflect both progress and setbacks, where the setbacks resulted from continuous subversive activity to re-establish and maintain the inversion.
Refer to the National Temperature and Precipitation Maps for CONUS.
Something changed between between winter 2021-2022 and winter 2022-2023. CONUS went from one of the driest winters in the 128-year period of record to one of the wettest.
Maybe you've heard about the near-record snowpack in the Sierra Nevada or the unprecedented blizzard in Southern California.
Enough of the obstructions were removed to restore atmospheric circulation. Conditions that resulted from drought (erosion and thinned vegetation) enhanced the winter weather when the blockage was removed.
    The Rebels are winning.

You need some basic information. If the world warms by 2 degrees it's not like today being 2 degrees warmer than yesterday. It's that the *peaks* will be two degrees warmer *on average*. This means the peaks will be amplified in certain places by much more, like the 50 degree celsius temperature in western Canada recently. That's hot enough to kill. You will also get 'wet bulb' events where the moisture held in the air is high enough to prevent sweating from cooling you down, so that's lethal in hot weather. You also get more extreme weather events such as hurricanes, floods and droughts as we are already seeing. These events kill hundreds at a time, sometimes thousands. As the world continues to warm, these events will continue to grow in frequency and severity.

Right now there is still a tiny buffer. So the heated sea hits the buffer, which melts at 32f. When the ice buffer is gone (by 2025 Max) the sea heats the air to 124f. That's a cooker. Take about 2-3 years to start cooking.

We can’t look at history in hope that people will demand change like they have in the past because the climate crisis has very little consequences on people at the time. Unlike all other issues in history where the consequences where on the people and then they demand change to ameliorate their situation. This has very little consequences for people at this point and by the time they do get consequences the time to do anything about it will be long gone.
The climate crisis is more like the NAZI rise in Germany in the 1930’s. The world watched the rise until the bombs started to fall on them before the public was completely mobilized. Unlike the NAZI plague we still had a chance of winning at that point but the climate crisis doesn’t have this opportunity. Even at this point if we shut down the economy and really got serious we would still face a much worse society in the coming years. I wish you guys good luck and all the hope in the world but it is a problem which the elites don’t believe they can solve and are simply trying to position themselves to survive the coming disaster. Good luck to all.

CO2 at 0.04% is a 2,500th part of the atmosphere. That means to warm the climate by just 1"C carbon dioxide molecules must capture 2,500"C of heat energy. That is impossible. It also breaks the fundamental laws of thermodynamics.
Methane at 0.00017% is a 600,000th of the atmosphere so it's even more impossible.
However, the climate is changing. This is because of deliberate geoengineering programmes, in particular ozone thinning away from the poles. Though largely unreported ozone thinning effect is directly observable, in clear skies producing an unnaturally bright sun. Under these conditions the pain felt when looking at the sun is not only from the increase in visible light but the much larger increase in infrared. (Look up at the sky and you will see a range of geoengineering operations in progress, these include chemtrail induced cloud or hazing, ripple patterns caused by HAARP installations, bizarre and unnatural cloud formations).
Climate change is a programme to force change in accordance with the implementation of Agenda 21 /2030. Current events demonstrate this transition is well underway and will involve massive population cull through injected nanotech (re transhumanist programme). Agenda 21 also sees the permanent loss of all property rights with the introduction of universal basic income (ref NESARA/GESARA) and has/is being promoted by The World Economic Forum.
'You will own nothing and you will be happy' WEF
In a depopulated world the surviving brainwashed and controlled population will be confined to mega cities. Carbon limits will be used to restrict consumption and liberty. Meanwhile the re-greened wilderness will be the exclusive playground of the ultra rich elite posing as conservationists.
The CO2 hoax amounts to the theft of the world and the enslavement of humanity by a parasitic few.
      Welcome to the future!
      _________
I have included a debunking of 'accumulated heat' as it is so often used to explain how trace elements, so called 'greenhouse gasses', can warm the planet.
Accumulated heat whilst sounding a reasonable explanation of how heat can build up is rather nothing more than gobbledygook. In fact it shows those using such arguments do not even understand what heat is.
When we measure temperature we are measuring the heat energy a thing is losing. In short heat is a measurement of flow, the transfer of heat energy and this will always be in the direction towards the colder. For this reason a thing can never 'accumulate heat' in the way those advocating CO2 climate change describe. The temperature of a body is the measure of heat output, it can never be greater than the measure of heat input. Output = input. When a thing is warmed it is heated to an equivalent of the heat input. If this input is not maintained it will cool. Those that propose that heat can build up to be hotter than the total measure of heat input at a given time either do not understand what heat is or are being deliberately misleading. To illustrate, an object being heated by a flame can never become hotter than that flame, it's temperature cannot rise inexorably to the temperature of the sun for instance. Heat cannot be accumulated. When we think about it common sense tells us this must be the case.
NASA and even Nobel Prize winning physicists have expounded 'accumulated heat' as the explanation how CO2 is able to warm the atmosphere. They claim that over hundreds of years CO2 has captured heat energy and this heat has 'accumulated' to produce a serious warming effect. As I have just explained, this is totally impossible and fundamentally violates all the laws of thermodynamics. That respected scientists should support such uneducated, unthinking nonsense is disturbing and only reflects that in terms of being able to think clearly about a subject they have no facility or inclination. These are the Dark Ages of science. Belief has outweighed logic or any critical thought. It tells us that we should not unquestioningly accept anything we are told, that experts can be fools.
(NB: be aware of attempts to discard thermodynamics by talking about biology.
Eg. 'It only takes a drop of arsenic to kill a person.'
This would be somewhat desperate, muddled thinking. Clearly biological processes based on the reaction of a cell are not the same as the laws of physics/thermodynamics).

Several tipping points have started now and this is April of 2023. Emissions are rising even more rapidly now and war has increased. Just how can anything happen to get a handle on the temperature when everything continues to get worse? And tipping points have started? And coal plants are being built and drilling for oil is on the rise? In my very knowledgeable opinion the human race and all life has entered the 6th Extinction. I'd like to hear how anyone can refute that !

Civil disobedience may work to change a concept of thought such as racism. What is called for with climate is a Marshall Plan/Manhattan Project to "manufacture" a comprehensive global strategy for a just, fair, and durable solution. We know the problem. We must expend global resources to Geoengineer a solution. Civil resistance merely sheds light on a problem which enough in power already know exists. Time left must focus on a last ditch effort at solving the problem. Mr. Hallam is unfortunately living in the rear view mirror of what constitutes rational thinking for a long lasting durable strategy for longterm solution to rescue humanity from climate and civilization collapse.

Now I'm an armchair thinker about this, making this song (ruclips.net/video/MWO2eA7s5mE/видео.html) is closest as I came to active protest, but as I listened I noticed two flaws that may be worth discussing.
The idea that there is great concern in the population is correct, but not in the way the speaker assumes. The concern is about how much of the social surplus can be taken by the individuals (will I be able to buy a BMW, will I be able to fly to my holiday destination, will I have a job, etc.). I'm not impressed at all by actual concern about the environment, depletion, etc. in the target population for other reasons than plain selfish ones.
Perhaps even more important: what exactly will be the end goal of the civil unrest? I mean, in the case of voting rights of women or ending slavery it is clear what goal is to be accomplished. What goal does this civil uprising have? What future model of society can be presented?

  • @kimweaver1252
    @kimweaver1252 2 года назад +2

Given that there appears to be about a decade lag between the emission of GHGs and the manifestation of the conditions produced by the new atmospheric chemistry, those three or four years are more than eaten up. The next six months is already hard wired and unchangeable.
The emission of methane and CO2 from the Arctic are now self-ampliftying. We are not able to do anything now which will change things for the better in any meaningful way.
For years now, all the "plans" for mitigating the heating to the extent that we could see the climate stabilize under 2 degrees C. have depended on carbon capture......a technology that is not extant and the construction of a system at the scale needed, would emit enormous amounts of GHGs. It would have to first soak up the GHGs that were emitted to build it. Then it will have to take up the GHGs that were emitted during the build out of the system. Then it can get on with sequestering the GHGs that were emitted during the industrial era.
Inconvenient TRUTH..... NO plan for ensuring survival of surface dwelling organisms will work without seeing a dramatic reduction of human population, especially in the first world.

I am not saying lets throw in the towel but the audience must be prepared for the inevitable. No historical data supports what is promoted. It's a matter of political and corporate will isn't it, but we know that's not there. The only thing standing the way of remedying societies ills is their attachments to the 7 Deadly Societial Sins; the first of which is personal Greed when it adversely affects society as a whole; the second is Lust which is much the same; the third is false Pride which one takes to one's self projecting the self importance of them being more of something than other humans in society, and so deserving of more no matter the ills that creates on society as a whole; forth comes Gluttony which those preceding are amalgamated into; fifth Envy, envy of everyone who has more; sixth is Wrath which is the hostility, often violent, that must be utilized to attain and retain those from the rest of society; lastly but the impetice to all else is Sloth, in which one dismisses themselves from any civic responsibility to the whole of society. In that is narcissism, and I find that over abundant in our politicians, corporations, and those investors that put personal wealth over the needs of the great society. Those fellow humans are near sighted, and I'll explain.
So to address climate and enviroment destruction those folks need to be enlightened, but unfortunately to do that their near sighted aims must be diminished. How, well that's a matter of taking over the economy and politics that they benefit from. To do that society in unity must strike back by reducing consumption so as to ride things out, go on a national labor strike in their countries, while in doing so create a national labor political party to challenge the powers that be. We must resolve ourselves to a moment in history of self-denial, and a bit of hardship. Again it's a matter of our will to overcome. Our only other option is a continuing downward spiral into poverty, culminated with the end of us and those we love, all by the slow death of the climate chaos over the next 30, 50 years. We must takeover wealth and politics with the resources we each hold, self-determination in unity, or that's our future.
