It is incredible how they made the garm a joke this time. There are barely any encounter where you fight more than one garm at time and the thing staggers like crazy. In DDDA you had to have a lot of knockdown power or use lightning to stagger that thing.
I hope the team can continue to deliver more new ways to play with future expansions for this game. I love the foundation this game has set and I know the team can only continue to evolve on this world and combat/quest variety. Look forward to new enemies, locations, vocations, etc would also hope to see the return of hard and speed run modes for additional Exp/Gold gain, and some unique goodies like in DDDA.
Unfortunately I wouldn't call the story gripping. If more was developped for the political intrigue, and if Battahl actually had main quests to flesh out the place, it would have been better. For example, Menella should have been Bakbattahl's version of Cpt Brant to give quests before leading to Shadowed Prayers. Don't misunderstand me. I love the game and played over 800h, but the various constructive criticisms are warranted when we waited more than a decade, only for the story to repeat similar (or worse) mistakes of its predecessor.
The story just stops as soon as you reach Battahl. Characters that were shown as important in the trailer ended up being a side quest fodder, while everything you did before Battahl is dropped and forgotten.
@@Dr.Strangelewd Yeah Battahl arrival's main quest is just: - Go to Bakbattahl - Leave Bakbattahl to go to the beach - Leave beach to talk to Oracle - Leave Battahl and go to Harve. Like, you don't even get a real quest to explore Battahl and its lore, politics, etc. You are guided to passed through it and go back to Vermund...
Maybe I would enjoy the game more if I wasn't distracted by NPCs appearing out of thin air, if there were more than 3 enemies and if my performance didn't do bungee jumping...
@@vitoralveslima9164 PC performance is still abysmal, unfortunately. My 5700X + 6750 XT can barely handle it. Such a waste of a launch, also the first game I ever pre-ordered (so much did I love DDDA...).
@@vitoralveslima9164 Wrong, it's a little better but not enough, not fixed, apart from optimization the game has more issues than that, it lacks enemy variety, more bosses and combat is too fucking easy (far more than in DD1), also you level up too fast, among other things.
I still love the game and I like to play it with the pre order sound effects and music from the first game then I switch to the new one when it gets stale. I like that a lot of the new armor has physics and moves now BUT I don’t like that A LOT of it is clipping through my shield when walking or running, and it makes my character look like a bloated cow whale 🐳 This game looks a million times better and I LOVE that A LOT, but it’s definitely missing that special charm from the original DDA. I liked the armor/fashion menu system of the first game better, we had more options, I liked the story too as fun cutscenes in the first. I know the first game was a lot smaller but that’s fine by me it was a lot more fun to play and follow the story and the combat felt more fluid & responsive in the original game, for example I could easily jump on a monster as a fighter class and jump off with with one button press or if I wanted to jump further up on whatever monster I was claiming I could jump, release then jump again and cling to it as I scaled it. This game keeps me stuck in the animation when I’m trying to let go and release. Also I have zero interest in “dragons plague 19” that’s not my idea of fun at all. I just feel that the first game and color design for it and the menu system(s) were really cool and classic, now we can’t even FULL BODY zoom in or our out in the menu like the first game let us. My final thoughts, I hope the expand on the new foundation of this with a lot more additional DLC content that’s fun and mysterious and exciting and worth playing for the reward of gear and fashion. And more unique monsters and bosses and mini bosses, more hair styles and naughty armor AND cool medium sized light weight armor for the Fighter Class, make the added on story fun, I KNOW why not remake DDA and that can me a DLC EXPANSION from the parallel world of DD2 we can be thrown into a remake of the original game with our new arisen & pawn to relive the original story and updated quests, they gotta find a way to make that happen in the story to crossover into the old world of Dragon’s Dogma with updated graphics & animations and monsters and word/map. Then all will be well, and only then can they add more map and quest expansions into it like a snowy mountain map with caves dungeons castles and villages and new monsters and dragons, dwarves and elves new forests Etc etc.. that’s how passionate and hopeful I am, maybe the Moon 🌙 Will take us there CAPCOM JAPAN? Do it, it’s a Win Win.
The story wasn’t gripping. The vermund story was just busy work, and then when you get to battahl you’re suddenly 90% of the way to finishing the game. Writing was very half-baked. Trickster is also one of the worst things in the game. We could’ve had Mystic Knight or some of the cool vocations from DDON. Also why are 95% of the best weapons in vendors? It’s convenient sure, but it would’ve been better if they were scattered all over the world like in Elden Ring or Skyrim. There’s also no unique bosses in the game outside of Medusa. Griffins are plentiful which made them less of a special encounter. In the first game they showed up in scripted events before you have a final confrontation atop the Bluemoon Tower. In DD2 you go outside Battahl and there’s always a Griffin spawn. The same can be said of other enemies like dragons. The Dragon was also a very dull fight unlike the first game when we fought Grigori.
Loot system in the game sucks. Randomized loot pools in DD1 always made looting exciting, but with preset loot in DD2 not only it makes replays boring since you know where's what from the start, it also makes you not want to travel and revisit explored parts of the map because once you open the chest it stays open until you finish the game.
@@Dr.Strangelewd blame that on people that complained about it for DD1 and i guess blame the devs for listening to them. Sometimes people just complain about stuff that is good cause they think it isn't, until it's taken from them and then they go "wait i liked it better before!! Put it back!!". Honestly must be maddening on the devs lol like "i did what you asked me to why are you still complaining"

Optimize the fucking game to start with and maybe, just maybe the people will play, it isn't the only problem but is the biggest one and the most important thing you should be fixing, immediately, and it's being 4 months now since the game's release so not good, wake up, I have the game forgotten in my library, I haven't even finished it obviously. Also you should fix the game's difficulty, add some type of hard mode or something because the game is so easy that it's boring (far more easy than DD1), also you level up too fast and the lack of enemy variety doesn't help either, DD1 was better designed, DD2 feels rushed and basically unfinished and not well though out. I don't usually preorder and for sure I'm not preordering anymore, it's impossible to be sure on this times if the game's gonna be optimized, well polished, etc. no matter the hype and no matter what game is, this was the last preorder I do. I wish capcom would do an update to easily reveal the finders token not everyone would remember where they found there very first seekers token so capcom need to do an update to either give it a different sound to the seeker token or give it some icon on the map ive got the detection argument and ive gone through the first 80 locations from the start and still nothing plus capcom need to fix the leveling up stats since level 150 i haven't received no strength increases magick increases magick defence or physical damage increases stamina either ive only received low health stats this is not a proper RPG because other RPGs with every rank up you should get increases on everything and if capcom doesn't fix these im more leaning towards filing a lawsuit against capcom for not balancing dd2 the right way
