How long is the service life?

This varies depending on the specific application but the material does have an 8 year UV package against degradation. Considering that the material will mostly be used as needed for floods we would anticipate in excess of 10 years of useful life.

How do you ensure the water is not going under the flap and the panel?

There is a neoprene seal under each panel in addition to the flap. We often recommend people strategically place sandbags on less even area to ensure a good seal with the ground below.

The flap material is more flexible than the more rigid panel material and is designed to contour to the ground below. That said, we typically recommend a sandbag or rock be strategically placed to help depress the flap down into surface below, creating a more secure seal. This isn't needed for the entire length but only on strategic areas where the material isn't able to contour as easily. Once water rises, this helps press the the flap further.
