What is Alarming about Alabama the last 2 years is not just the QB play but the defense not being able to stop people when it matters. Alabama used to be known for defenses that shut people down.
I mean the defense today looked decent for most of the game not dominant but much better then last year more of a bend don’t break mentality but they came up big in the red zone and are the only reason Alabama stayed in it. Milroe is not the one the dude is a crazy athlete but just like so many crazy athletes he’s 1 dimensional I mean I could of called the defense for Texas in the first 3 quarters and had just as much success there was 0 fear or respect for the passing game.

Easy, there. I remember the 2005 NC game. I also remember beating Notre Dame to start the season… the same season we lost to Kansas and fired Charlie Strong. Ewers played out of his mind. He hasn’t showed he can do that consistently yet. He gets up for big games. What about Wyoming? What about Texas Tech? Don’t sleep on Kansas this year. This is week 2. Can the “Texas is back” stuff until we show that we can take care of business week after week like the big boys. What makes Alabama great is their ability to win games they are supposed to win. Harder than it sounds.
I actually felt good about this Bama team even after the loss to Texas. Sometimes you have to put your case together before making your move. Saban did right by allowing Milroe to do what he does best (LOSE) bc had Saban benched Milroe the ESPN and fans would’ve been outraged about Saban not giving Milroe a CHANCE. I personally feel Saban likes the true freshmen QB’s like Lonergan more but it wouldn’t have looked great if he just benched Milroe who has EARNED a shot to prove himself. Milroe EARNED his shot and showed us exactly what we already knew he was capable of on the biggest stage. Now we can move on to better options and it’s still early in the season to go to the CFP.
My friend, you're absolutely correct he and TY were killing Milroe in practice when it came to passing. My cousin played for Alabama so he still gets access to things we don't get to see. He personally told me that everybody knew Milroe can't read defense.

Certainly am not surprised by the outcome of this game. Milroe's ability as a quarterback is reminiscent of Sims and Hurts--before he gained experience under Tua's tutelage and went to Oklahoma. All three QBs pre-selected their receiver upon calling the play and not by determining the correct receiver based on the play on the field, which is what made Tua, Jones, and Young so effective. As a result, in Milroe's case, he has a very strong tendency to throw into double and triple coverage, or quickly determines to keep the ball and run with it instead of allowing the field of play to develop. Perhaps he will improve his acuity with experience, but this year is over as far as the playoffs are concerned. What bothers me more is why Coach Saban and his offensive staff fail to perceive their QB's limitations and fail to institute a three or four year training program to teach on field decision making.

Texas fan, here. Jalen Milroe had some moments… always when he was playing with instinct and didn’t have to think. He was completing those deep passes because the target was predetermined and he was just heaving the ball up there. The INT’s did not come from pressure… they came under no duress. On that one play where he lost the center snap, he tossed a touchdown pass because there was no time to think. The adjustments that the Alabama offense made at half time were not to Texas’ defense… they were to Milroe, which is a problem. Yeah, the Texas D front is ferocious. We knew that going in. Your o-line was able to establish the run early. As you got behind, all of a sudden, you needed to pass and just couldn’t string passing downs together. Sark finally called a good football game start to finish. In the end, Alabama could not execute. I think you are feeling the vacuum that Bryce Young left behind. Last year’s offense was centered on the QB. The new OC tried to do the same thing, but there is a night and day difference between Young and Milroe. That is the difference as well as Ewers balling out like he has not done since OU last season. Will he develop consistency? We’ll see. He was on this game. I was happy to get the win against top notch competition.
It looked like Alabama tried to go back to their 2010 ways and try to big boy football Texas but got beaten at their own game. Texas looked more physical upfront, more creative offensively, and just overall better. This shocked me as a UT fan but I’m gonna enjoy the win but won’t jinx it with the ol “Texas is Back” phrase

Nothing against Downs, he's gonna be a star, but Ewers could be the best QB in college football. Mitchell started on a national championship team. It wasn't a fair fight.

Certainly am not surprised by the outcome of this game. Milroe's ability as a quarterback is reminiscent of Sims and Hurts--before he gained experience under Tua's tutelage and went to Oklahoma. All three QBs pre-selected their receiver upon calling the play and not by determining the correct receiver based on the play on the field, which is what made Tua, Jones, and Young so effective. As a result, in Milroe's case, he has a very strong tendency to throw into double and triple coverage, or quickly determines to keep the ball and run with it instead of allowing the field of play to develop. Perhaps he will improve his acuity with experience, but this year is over as far as the playoffs are concerned. What bothers me more is why Coach Saban and his offensive staff fail to perceive their QB's limitations and fail to institute a three or four year training program to teach on field decision making.

I’m a huge Alabama fan, mainly because, Coach Saban is from my home state. However, I believe that dynasty is over. Still the GOAT of college football coaches.
Dynasties don't last forever. 'Bama's ended in the championship game against Georgia at the end of the 2021 season. It was one hell of a run but welcome the the pack of college football where the line between 8-4 and 12-0 is razor thin.
The shift from how both teams executed from the 2010 National Title to now is surreal…Bama looked every bit like we have for the past 15 years and we somehow grew some big boy balls and realized HOW to play the damn game!!! 🤨🤘🏼
Texas fan, here. Jalen Milroe had some moments… always when he was playing with instinct and didn’t have to think. He was completing those deep passes because the target was predetermined and he was just heaving the ball up there. The INT’s did not come from pressure… they came under no duress.
On that one play where he lost the center snap, he tossed a touchdown pass because there was no time to think.
The adjustments that the Alabama offense made at half time were not to Texas’ defense… they were to Milroe, which is a problem.
Yeah, the Texas D front is ferocious. We knew that going in. Your o-line was able to establish the run early. As you got behind, all of a sudden, you needed to pass and just couldn’t string passing downs together.
Sark finally called a good football game start to finish. In the end, Alabama could not execute. I think you are feeling the vacuum that Bryce Young left behind. Last year’s offense was centered on the QB. The new OC tried to do the same thing, but there is a night and day difference between Young and Milroe. That is the difference as well as Ewers balling out like he has not done since OU last season. Will he develop consistency? We’ll see. He was on this game. I was happy to get the win against top notch competition.
It looked like Alabama tried to go back to their 2010 ways and try to big boy football Texas but got beaten at their own game. Texas looked more physical upfront, more creative offensively, and just overall better. This shocked me as a UT fan but I’m gonna enjoy the win but won’t jinx it with the ol “Texas is Back” phrase
Let’s beat Texas Tech before we say we’re back. And it starts with Wyoming next week.

The other thing is Alabama was starting Caleb Downs, a guy who was playing high school last year. Ewers, Mitchell, and the rest of the offense were ready to exploit that inexperience. Nothing against Downs, he's gonna be a star, but Ewers could be the best QB in college football. Mitchell started on a national championship team. It wasn't a fair fight.
