      Hi Sarah. I hope you all have a wonderful time. Molly and I have put many many miles on the road together in ol' Classy. Maybe we'll all meet up somewhere along the road. Until then, thanks for stopping by and, as always, Happy and safe Trails. Give Olga a little love now and then and treat Iggy to an ear scratch and belly rub from "Uncle Geezer".

      Hi Joanne! OLD? You said OLD? You're just a pup and can learn anything you put your mind to. We had absolutely no experience when we bought "Classy" and have since logged around 10,000 miles with no thoughts of stopping. Grab it by the horns and ride it like a boss. Thanks for watching and I hope to meet you on the road sometime.

      Hi Joanne, You might try talking to your local RV dealer to see if there are any RV clubs in your area. Also do any of your neighbors have an RV, if so talk to them. Most rvers are very friendly and more than willing to answer your questions. If there is a campground/RVpark in your area go there and talk to the folks running the park and talk to the campers. I hope this helps.

    Hey geezer it’s Sarah in California I have same year and make and model you have but we call her rolling thunder I’m fixing the hose underneath the back of our toilet do the fittings usually spring leaks ? is their anything you can give me any tid bits of your pearls of wisdom? Theirs a continuous leak outa fitting.

    • @GeezerAtTheWheelGang
      @GeezerAtTheWheelGang  3 года назад

      Hi Sarah. I have never looked in the back of Classy's toilet. I have not had any reason to. The weather here has been awful lately and I haven't had a chance to run over to look at the situation back there. It wouldn't hurt anything to just replace the hose and fittings to see if that gets it. If it fixes it great, you'll probably never have to deal with it again. If it doesn't, you're no worse off and still you likely won't have any hose issues in the furture. Good Luck and Happy safe Trails.

    How many miles do these usually get ? im looking to buy one on facebook with 98,000 miles on it. and the water line needs to be replaced. how does this drive? would appreciate it if u could answer.

    • @GeezerAtTheWheelGang
      @GeezerAtTheWheelGang  3 года назад

      Hi Joanna. Classy has between 70 and 80k I'm not sure to be exact. I have put nearly 15k on her personally. It's hard to say about others, but that's been my experience. Water lines can be a bit costy and a PITA to do yourself. JMO I'm not sure what you mean by "how does this drive". The steering is very soft. I can turn the steering wheel with one finger (typical for a Ford). As far as maneuvering, it's nothing for me since I'm a retired semi driver. The main thing to watch for is a wide swing of the tailend when turning. ie the body pivots on the back wheels. I hope I've been of some help. See ya' on the road, but until then ... Happy and safe Trails.

  • @porkyfry
    @porkyfry 2 года назад

    Hey! We recently purchased a very similar rv to yours, except it is a 24 foot. I am working out the kinks, of which there are plenty due to its age and not being used for almost a decade.
    The side view mirrors currently on it are pathetic. Whoever installed them bought two left mirrors, and put one on the right side upside down... anyways, I was wondering if you had suggestions on proper replacements? I have been searching for several days online and cannot find anything that will work.

    • @GeezerAtTheWheelGang
      @GeezerAtTheWheelGang  2 года назад

      Classy was already done when I got her. However, I recognize the DIY replacement mirrors as being from a big truck (ie semi) . You can find some good used ones at a truck scrap yard. Don't forget to grab any and all hardware while you're at it. From here I don't know how they are fastened on the door. If you would like, I can take some pics to send you. Make a request via GeezerAtTheWheel@gmail.com so I have your address to send them to you. I love these mirrors and with the addition of some additional "fisheye" mirrors I can see virtually everything in 2 to 3 lanes on either side. Hope I helped.

      Yes, Classy was originally acquired just for this trip. However, she'll be a part of our family for the forseeable future. I do most of the maintenance/repairs myself. I don't mess with brakes, 110volt or LP systems. I leave those for the pros.

      Hi Amy. It depends a lot on how old the unit is. Older models were built better, but may not have been taken care. Especially in recent years. My best suggestion would be to join our Facebook Group and post your question along with a few pics of it along with any detail info you have. We have some very friendly and helpful members. Several of them have rebuilt RV's and know "stuff". LOL Here's the link if you're interested > facebook.com/groups/GeezerAtTheWheel/ Hope to see you there, but at any rate the best of luck to you.

      There is only one house battery in ol' Classy. It's under the hood with the starting battery. It's just not enough power to boondock properly. But we make do when we have to. No issues, it's just the way this old coach was built. Thanks for watching

    Geez - My wife and I are going to be hitting the road before the end of 2017! Retirement is just around the corner and we are trying to figure out which is the best RV for us. If you could answer some questions about your trips with Classy, that would be great! How long have you had her? Many breakdowns? Are you able to do the repairs and maintenance yourself? If you could do it all over do you wish you had a newer model?Would you rather have a Class A? Do you all cook/prepare most of your meals inside Classy? Are you getting any better than 6 miles per gallon? Thanks!!!
    I have been trying to catch up and view more of your adventures and look forward to more of your adventures in the future!

    • @GeezerAtTheWheelGang
      @GeezerAtTheWheelGang  7 лет назад +2

      Hi Steve! I'm excited for you with the upcoming changes in your life. I hope you have as much fun as Lucy and I are having. We got Classy in Aug of 2015. So far there have been no major breakdowns. She stalled completely once when we were on Hwy 101 in California. However, I believe that was due to a tank of bad gas. It only took a few minutes of waiting to let her cool down and for any gas sediment to settle, then she fired back up. But she ran poorly until we ran a couple of tanks of fresh gas through. So far, I (with help from family) have been able to do everything that Classy has needed. However, when we first got her, I did pay to have professional inspections of the propane, electrical and brake systems. TIP: When these inspections were done I asked what they did and how they did it so I could duplicate it myself as regular maintenance. I don't regret buying our 26 year old Classy at all. I have no envy of newer units. No, I would not prefer a Class A. We did our homework and picked the Class C as the best choice for US. Your needs may be different. Yes, a majority of our meals are "home cooked". The convenience and cost of meals was a big factor in our decision to buy an rv for traveling. Classy's overall gas mileage, since we got her, is 8.76mpg. Tank to tank calculations have been as low as 6.7mpg and as high as 11.2mpg. I hope that helps you. Keep us updated on your upcoming adventures. Happy Trails!

    I am so very happy to discover your channel today. I had just typed in search for "vinyl trim for motor home" and came across your YT channel! We have a 1986 Tioga RV, 26 foot. Looks a lot like yours. Our bathroom is in the back...and the front looks somewhat like yours. We have a sofa (that makes into a bed) across from the two chairs. Our door is more towards the back. I watched your video about applying vinyl trim...however...I was trying to find out about the flat trim that tapes to the outside as trim. My husband and I just watched this video and loved it. It inspires us so much. We've had ours for several years but need to do some fixing up. We live in the UP of Michigan and are in our early 70's. Just taken shorter camping trips and a couple of shorter road trips. But may do more. I am excited to watch your video on new curtains! One question I have...did you or the previous owner paint the outside? It looks so nice. Also...the wallpaper in ours is starting to peel off, so I'm planning on painting the inside. Oh...I can't tell you how much I look forward to actually watching your trip videos! Thanks for making these...

      @GeezerAtTheWheelGang  7 лет назад +1

      Hi Sherrie! I'm glad you found us and enjoyed the vid. I did publish a video about applying cut sheet vinyl that may help you .... here's a link> ruclips.net/video/l5rhS66u9kk/видео.html This will be the summer of "Classy". We are going to dial back our travels to short trips this summer and spend some time and money on facelifts, updates and retoration projects on the old coach. I hope to provide a lot of how-to's with the vids. Classy's exterior has not been redone in any way. However, the grey trim is faded and kind of dates her soooo.... watch for some rather drastic changes there. I hope you will (if you haven't already) join our Facebook group and share your projects and travels with all of us there. Here's the link for that > facebook.com/groups/GeezerAtTheWheel/ Thank you so much for your interest and support. Happy Trails to you!

  • @Samspianopage
    @Samspianopage 8 лет назад

    Very nice motorhome my man. I live in Scotland and over here we don't have many of these most of em are van conversions such as the Mercedes-Benz Srpinter/Ford Transit or sometimes you get the Fiat Ducato/Peugeot Boxer or in the old days the Talbot Express LOL.
    I can't drive I'm partially sighted but I love campers my dad's had a few. I can see why Fleetwood dominated the RV industry back then this class C has more features and bright windows letting in lots of ambient light than anything else and it seems to have held up very well doesn't seem to have leaked anywhere so obviously the previous owners knew how to look after her.
    One thing you could try as a project down the road see most of our campervans and motorhomes are diesels. Why not do an engine swap if petrol consumption starts to be a concern? Something like a Powerstroke diesel/Cummins or similar?
    I realize that's a very big job and the cost of finding an engine and then having to stick it in might not outweigh the savings you'll get on fuel plus of course diesels are generally deerer to service and apparently over there in the US iesel is abit more expensive than petrol. Just a thought though.

    • @GeezerAtTheWheelGang
      @GeezerAtTheWheelGang  8 лет назад +1

      Hi Sam! Thanks for checking out the video. I really like this old camper and you're right, the previous owner took really good care of her. I really hadn't thought about a diesel conversion ... until now. I don't see parting ways with the ol' girl any time soon so this is an interesting thought. I'm glad you enjoyed the tour and I hope you come along with us on this "virtual" trip. Happy Trails!

    • @Samspianopage
      @Samspianopage 8 лет назад

      No probs mate. Here's another thing you could consider. If you don't wanna find a diesel engine you could try converting the Petrol engine to LPG/Natural Gass instead. Still an expensive conversion but I dunno over here in Britain anyway LPG is much chepaer than petrol dunno about where you are.
      Cheers.

    👍 Very nice.
    Mice.... 😳 How do they get in?

    • @GeezerAtTheWheelGang

      Hi LA! Fortunately, we haven't had a major mouse issue. I believe the little buggers mainly get in through the engine compartment in motorhomes. Another good place for them, is anywhere there is a connection point between the unit and outside resources, such as water and electricity. Thank you for watching and have a wonderful day.

      + Geezer at the Wheel I've heard so many people complain about those little creatures! I will try not to loose my mind if I see one if / when I get an RV. 😩

      If you take a few precautions, it's usually not a major problem. The
      dryer sheets really do help. The fact is, we haven't seen any signs of
      mice since before this time last year.

      Engine compartment, Wire passthroughs, Pipe passthroughs, Any small opening really. And the little buggers will eat absolutely anything including wire insulation😒

      Hi Charles. Thank you, she is indeed a nice old camper. However, not for sale. Since I filmed this video we have traveled almost 12,000 miles and are planning for more. I appreciate your interest.
