I think they will show up fine with just a white background behind them, they aren't as dark as the film negatives were. 😊

I have a wall in my bedroom of photos I've got at thrift stores and ones given to me. I think they range from the late 1800's to the 1960's, instant family. I just can't leave them. I work at a Toyota dealership that is very dog friendly, makes me happy, I get my dog loves daily. Plus there's a small dog park, water bowls and dog snacks at the cafe.
Before long you both will be able to open up your own museum!

Hi Kids, I got in the wrong car years ago, my husband was almost in serious trouble, having a photo of a strange woman on the dash! Talk about feeling foolish, never told my husband! I love the negatives,such treasures, can't imagine families getting rid of these heirlooms!! Well, once again, you out did yourselves! Always a treat!

That one house had a vinyl-topped stool. I bought a chair at auction once. I love chairs, but the main reason was the sign that accompanied it...HIDE OF THE NAUGH! My sister has that chair, so I still get to see it and tell others of the auctioneer's sense of the ridiculous!

Wow Rob and Karen....You really got my attention with the glass plate negative. A photo place can easily make a contact print of those as the negative is so big. I had a friend in photo club whose daughter found a whole box on glass plates, circo early 1900s, in the trash out on Chicago's well to do North Shore. I borrowed one 8 x 10 that was my favorite. It is a glass plate positive (lantern projection plate) of a grandmother holding out her arms to a baby in what looked like an old farm house... To my taste, it is fabulous. To print it....I had to make a film negative from the glass positive in order to make a contact print on black and white photo paper. I'm sure it wasn't perfect, as I'm not a pro...but still beautiful. Photo and darkroom is one of the happiest things I've done in my life. And it allows you to print old forgotten negatives like a magic looking glass into days and lives gone by. It's good to see you two riding in your car on the way to your treasure hunts....i guess it helps us feel like a bit of precious normal is back. GB... linda

@@BargainBarons when i learned it was just before everything went digital. Took a Jr. College course. At first I was ready to quit as it seemed like it was too technical. We learned on black and white. First photo I developed...I seriously lost my heart to it. I see why the masters were so devoted. If you ever get a chance I hope you try it. It is past wonderful on so many levels.

Haaahahaha We used to have a children's show here called Mr. Dressup and he had a 'Tickle Trunk' a trunk with all his costumes in it. It's a Canadian thing,.,. which I kind of forgot others would be confused by that when I was editing the video LOL

I love the glass negatives. We have a lot of glass negatives at the museum where I volunteer. You have to be very careful when handling them as the chemicals used to make them are very toxic. We only use mylar gloves when handling them. I don't think you'd want to expose them to light for any length of time as they would probably fade. We store ours in acid free envelopes to preserve them. Great finds in the old photos too. I've seen box lots of 100+ old photos of people, places, etc. from even the 1950's sell for good money here in Ontario.
Didn't know about handling of them... we'll be careful next time! 😆 Also wasn't aware light would affect them either but makes sense... tin types are the same....

You know.... You see all these old time photos of people who in their lives thought that the moment was important enough to pay good money to capture for all time; only to become garage sale fodder two or three generations later. It's kind of sad.

Hi Shann!! Yes that's a good question, I'm going to start posting more info about that in next week's videos, but basically, we are pretty much good here. Currently in our city of 232,000 people, there is 1 known active case of COVID. I believe at the time of filming this episode, there were about 36 known active cases in the city. Risk here is considered extremely low and masks are not required where we live at this time.
