Patera was a true freak. Not only Olympian strong, but cut the weight and got shredded great physique, he was also pretty nimble for a giant! Only downfall and maybe the biggest: couldn’t cut promos no mic skills and just no damn personality lol. Amongst other obvious things. Anyway true legend.
He also had a temper and that may be what stopped Promoters from putting him at the very top of the Card. He was a big deal everywhere he went and when you think about the era he wrestled in, could have been at The Top of The NWA, The AWA and The WWWF/WWF.
I have never seen Patera look better! He lost the baby fat he had in his power lifting days, yet he still retains all the power. Look at his legs! The problem with Tony Atlas, Jessie Ventura, Superstar Graham, Rick Rude, is that they all skip leg day workout. Patera has legs like an oak tree.
I remember watching him do a clean and jerk with his glasses on. Lol. I've never seen that before. But at that same time, he was a beast if ever one existed
I saw ken on tv worlds strongest man..he was running up a track carrying an engine block!!he truely was one of the strongest!! Some of his records still stand..i quit watching wrestling when the chris Benoit thing went down..quit..i only watch these old matches...wont ever go to a live show ever either..🇺🇲🇬🇧
Yes, Shawn Michaels' Mentor., as I watched Shawn Michaels wrestle in World Class Championship Wrestling, Mid-South Wrestling, Central States Wrestling and Houston Wrestling before he made his way to The AWA and then The WWF/WWE.
He was The Real Deal, United States Olympic Team, Medaled at The 1972 Summer Olympics, trained by Verne Gagne in the same training class as Ric Flair and The Iron Sheik.
That would be one hot match. Both of them while wrestling would try and put their famous full nelsons on each other. Love to see them flex at each other as well
@@austinha11 I see you inserted a question mark. Are you asking me to explain what a jobber is? Or are you asking me to explain why I label Lothario a Jobber?
@@charlessavoie2367 My friend, If you were to look up Patera matches from this era, you would see that it was his common gimmick that jobbers are carried out of the ring after the swinging neck breaker. Look up Patera vs White wolf, or Patera vs Lopez 10/1/77. It was not real. I am not saying that accidents dont happen, but the promotion is not going to send out a star to consistently cripple jobbers. Lothario was o,k., whitewolf was ok, Lopez was ok. They all lived to wrestle another day.
@@charlessavoie2367 It was a Patera's gimmick, in that era, that jobbers got carried out on a stretcher. There are a handful of matches with the same thing. Personality was arrogant prick

ну видимо его продюсеры решили сделать из него плохого парня.

Ken Patera would beat you like a red-headed stepson for saying that.

He has no ass tho
340 pounds, standing broad jump, 10 feet 6 inches. Try that sometime weighing 170 with 85 pound dumbbell in each hand.

Ken is chiseled here and ripped . This man was strong .
I think this was Around his 1977-79 WWF run

He’s the man that never skipped leg day! Those are tree trunks not legs!
Huh I guess pro wrestling actually used to resemble wrestling back in the day
Patera's older brother Jack Patera was the 1st coach of the Seattle seahawks
I never knew that. Thanks for the info
Ken Patera loved putting on those full nelsons. Man he had some big biceps
Would have loved to see him go up against Chris Masters and his “Master Lock”
That would be one hot match. Both of them while wrestling would try and put their famous full nelsons on each other. Love to see them flex at each other as well
Chris Masters would not last long against a strong man like Ken Patera .
So agree with you man. Patera bigger biceps for sure
Agree with you man. Patera had bigger biceps and a more muscular and stronger physique
Patera looks like a beast in the thumbnail - good Lord.
Great stuff I love it
Great video
Lothario wouldn't last 5 seconds in Patera's bearhug or full nelson.
Lothario was a professional boxer in Mexico winning 48 of 49 fights and a draw in one.
I spent many Friday nights at the Sam Houston Coliseum watching Houston Wrestling.
Patera = master heel
Those mutton chops on JJ Dillon are magnificent.
Ken looked ….so…upset here.
At 11:54 he told Jose something. Probably what they were going to do next.
Patera had a lot of caution about Lothario's fists.
Praise to Patera for selling so well for his jobber and giving him so much offense

I didn't like seeing Lothario get hurt, really hurt.
How do we determine that he was legit hurt and not working?

Good selling if not actually hurt
Boring!
