Myki is pronounced "My Key", when you are asking about it, they will know what you are asking about. Good explanation of the free tram Paul with the map.
Sorry for the delay in posting but I've been cruising without access. Yes, the free tram in the central business district is wonderful and the meal you got was a relative bargain as I've found the prices to be about triple that of the States. I've noted Australia as making restaurant prices in London being a relative bargain. The one opportunity you missed in Melbourne are the free fuided walking tours from the visitor's center. Mostly retired people who have inside knowledge on the history of their wonderful city and it's a personal tour for just you or anyone in your party. Since tips are not part of the culture, we took our guide out to lunch and amazingly, he tried to pay for his own meal. I just love the Australian people. Hope to visit again someday.
Fabulous critique of the Melbourne CBD attractions. Your video nailed it! We were privileged to meet with you guys at the catch up, and it was a fabulous time together, especially the nude big guy on the balcony to entertain us all haha. Thank you for all your video postings, they are most amusing, entertaining, and very informative. Hopefully our paths will cross again and keep on cruising!!!
They took the clocks at Flinders Street and serviced them today, made me think of you, laughed at Paul’s pronunciation of Myki , he always teases you Carole today it was his turn to get it wrong
A brilliant video! Really useful for planning our time in Melbourne next October. I've seen some of the things but others are new to me. The Library and Captain Cook's house in Fitzroy Gardens were the first places I visited.
The Kangaroos are so amazing to let you stroke them even though they have a joey in their pouch, i thought they would be defensive but they were so chilled, we saw them at Perth wildlife park x
Oh, I absolutely LOVED my time in Melbourne last year - it’s such a gorgeous city! The trams also really surprised me - we could travel from the docklands (where our hotel was) up to the main CBD for free every night, which was excellent!
What a great video - bringing so many memories back of our holiday earlier this year to Australia and a Cruise with Celebrity around NZ We stumbled across a great freebie in Melbourne - if you go to the Tourist Information you can book yourself on a walking tour hosted by a volunteer - It's a max of 4 people per tour but there was only my wife and I on what turned out to be a fantastic 4 hour private walking tour of Melbourne - that took is into so many places that we would have never have found. In the library we saw Ned Kelly's suit of armour on this tour - and agree the state library is stunning . Like you, we did an Animal Sanctuary (The Moonlit Sanctuary) and Phillips Island penguin parade as well - excellent. Cowes on Philip Island was a great place for tea before heading over to the Penguin Parade. We stood at the back and were lucky as the many penguins waddled up right where we were standing. My wife did get annoyed with people who ignored the photo rule and tried to police the rule herself :-)
Thank you! Oh thats great to hear, what celebrity ship were you on? Oh that is a great tip about the walking tour, good to have insiders tips! LOL why do people not follow rules......good for your wife on policing it! 😂😂 It is such an incredible experience, so glad we got to see it!
We were on the Eclipse - A ship we've sailed on 4 times previously - but from Southampton not Sydney :-) I think we used the same stock photos as you from Penguin Parade on our own "home video" @@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel
Dear Carole and Paul, thank you for all your videos. I know its a personal choice but I would like to get your views on two transatlantic cruises by Marella. I am debating on taking either the Marella Voyager out of Bridgetown, Barbados to Palma or the Marella Explorer 2 out of Montego Bay to Palma next March/April 2024. Both are 17/18 days with different ports of call. Which ship would you be more comfortable with crossing the Atlantic Ocean on a 17 day cruise. Which one would you take? Stay safe and take care of each other. Fair winds and following seas.
They are both great ships and are very similar in size so would handle the crossings about the same, Explorer 2 is adult only so that may be a factor for you. It would really depend on the itinerary but if they are similar then the Voyager is the newest addition, but it’s hard to call. Not much help I know. Go with your gut, I don’t think either will disappoint.
Looks like you had an absolutely amazing time! I love the fact they have free transport, I think more places should do that! Encourages you to explore a bit more! The market looks lovely!! And the Gaol looks really cool to explore! Haven’t had the chance to head down under yet but can’t wait for the chance.
The free transport was fabulous, agree wish more cities did this! We really enjoyed our time in Melbourne, infact loved Australia, so hope to go back again one day!
Did you see any Wombats, they had 1 at Perth which was huge you could have Photos taken with him, they had Koalas on a tree so you could have a photo but you could only stroke them on their back with the back of your hand as the oils in humans skin can damage their coats, the back of your hand was ok, all an unforgettable experience x
LOL, I had to laugh about "gaol"! When I first moved to Melbourne 20 years ago, I said it the same was as you Carole and then, like Paul I had to look it up, although not on my mobile, but a home computer......lol When I got here I had to go there as well and it is very interesting.
I'm from Canada. I have been to Australia.
