- In today's vlog we head to Disney Springs to try pin trading for the very first time!! This is something we've always wanted to try but we thought we'd start at Disney Springs and then work our way up to actually pin trading in the parks. We went into several stores and spoke with so many awesome cast members while we looked for pin trading boards and areas. This was honestly so much fun! you don't need to spend a bunch of money to get started either. They were selling kits with starter pins and a lanyard in the pin trading store. We highly recommend trying it out, especially if you're looking for a fun family activity while you're in the theme park area. We can't wait to try out pin trading in the actual parks! This is the video I’ve been waiting for!! I was super into pin trading as a kid! I have the entire original monorail collection (only given to monorail drivers) and the bus collection!
Also HOLY CRAP don’t trade that Star Wars 2016 pin you can only get that one if you were at that event and it could be worth major bucks!!
I'm glad the cast member mentioned it that they can't say no. I remember seeing a cast member pulling out her insulin which was attached to a lanyard with her personal pins and a girl made her (she pulled a manager over) trade her favorite pin even though it wasn't on her public trading pouch
Those cast members at Pin Traders were so sweet! Especially the first one who didn’t even make you trade for the Donald Duck one
So nice that the cast member gave you the option of newly released pins since it was your first time pin trading!
I think pin trading could be a very addictive hobby... If you live within a stone's throw of a Disney park!!!

If you go to the restaurant at Caribbean Beach they have the biggest pin board on property!

The first time I traded pins I literally started my collection that day and honestly only thought if I was going to trade it would be with a CM since it was DLP and I figured pin trading wouldn't be a thing but a french guest approached me asking if I traded and he brought out multiple land yards out of his backpack, I only traded one pin with him since I had just got them though he would have been happy to trade more, I got such a rush from it, it really is addictive.

My son (7) only just started pin trading on our last visit. He loved it! Everyone is so nice about it. A woman (guest) in line saw him buying his first lanyard and just gave him 5 pins to get him started. He was almost in tears he was so appreciative.

Usually cast members with green pin holders will not trade with adults-only children. So glad you did this. Our family LOVES to trade at Disney!
I'm a pin trading fanatic!! I love starting new sets and hunting for them. The thing that bothers me is when people only trade the cheap junk pins to get the really good ones. I trade good pins to get good pins. Glad you guys had fun. It's a fun thing that brings the community together. I was even made an honorary citizen for helping out a new trader.
Hi guys! I love pin trading, I do it every time at Disney! All of the gold, silver, and anyone of those with Mickey heads inside of them are all rare! Pick those whenever you see em!

I have over 500 pins that I have purchased throughout the 50 plus times of coming to Disney. I have only pin traded a few times. It is fun. After watching your video it makes me want to get them out of storage and bring some along for trading on my next trip. Thanks for bringing this Up!
Started pin trading this past April when I went to Disney for my birthday. Started at Magic Kingdom and traded all week in the parks, even had a guest trade with me..it's so much fun!

We started pin trading many many many years ago... yup i'm old..... When I was a kid I wouldn't even look at parades or the rides... I would stare at all the cast members pin lanyards. I've been known to walk up to cast members without looking at their faces and start talking lol ... even to this day I still have trouble not looking at pin boards or lanyards. I have my 9 year old now that helps me get pins too haha. It's so addictive and just a fun thing to do while you are at Disney World. Even watching you guys I'm like dang I want THAT one lol Hope you guys had fun!
Yay! Pin Trading! :) Please don't buy big pin lots on Ebay... they are all fake/scrappers and they make those of us that buy real pins feel very sad to see them on lanyards. The Disney Outlet is a great place to buy starter pins instead. :)

cast members are allowed to say no to fake Disney pins. eBay has a lot of fake pins so use caution.

@@thecurlywarrior you need to go to Disney Pin Trading groups on Facebook! They have amazing people that offer inexpensive traders that are real :)

Would be cool and I'm not hating but the WDW couples club 33 vlog was a turn off. It was total clickbait. Title a video "Club 33!" then spend 20 minutes saying we went inside!! But.. we can't tell you anything. No one can film inside the club so.. it's kind of a moot point. I might sound salty but since I'm planning my first WDW vacation next year seeing clickbait videos didn't set a good impression. lol

When we stayed at Caribbean Beach this past fall, the dining area had the biggest pin board on Disney property. I love trading at the resorts! Hope to see more trading videos,
We pin traded for the first time on our trip last month and the Duffy with the Goofy hat is in a set that I managed to collect. Jen is right it made the trip way more exciting because you were constantly looking for the pins you wanted.
Definitely look into how to tell the fake from the real ones.

Maryann Darlington there are quite a few fakes on those boards. I hate that people are doing that :(
that would be a great video for Tim & Jenn to make- because I've only bought pins- I've never actually traded- so I'd like to know some rules of pin trading and how to tell fake ones or ones that are part of a collection.

I have a pin collection of about 600 pins. I have completed soooo many sets! It's so much fun and extremely satisfying when you complete a set. I also have some rare pins that are very cool. I collect Epcot festival event pins each year too. Great video!

please be very careful buying pins on eBay, a Disney group I belong to on Facebook discovered that most of the packs of pins contain something harmful/hazardous so it's not advisable to buy on eBay. I can't remember what it was be something toxic to skin and harmful if ingested. So please be aware of this and be careful

Aww pins are great be careful with the rubber backs if your gonna start collecting alot they tend to fall off I use the metal backs to keep them in place I would love to send you guys some exclusives

Emily Minshall that's great you found it they fall of during rides too someone drop a pins at tower of terror they thought it was me but we found the right person it belong too.
one time I stepped on a pin and it was stuck to my shoe and I noticed something was off so I looked under my shoe and it was a Minnie Pin that someone must have dropped. It was a bit scratched up but oh well. ( not super relevant I guess but yeah they fall off)
I lost a couple pins at Disney because it feel off, one I found right away, but the other I never found 😢

i absolutely love pin trading! I learned about it a few years back and it's definitely my favorite disney activity! Even though disney springs has that pin store HQ, i think it is a really underrated spot for trading with cast members! i've gotten some really great pins along with some really great stories from CMs around the lot. When you travel with AAA they give you Disney kind and lanyards so each time we went my family would give theirs to trade. It's so much fun.

Just letting you guys know some tips! Usually since the cast members can't say no, people buy fake pins online to trade them with so they can get more. So, I don't think there's a way to avoid fake pins, but it's all in good fun nonetheless! Also, you could tell it's a fake pin if the back is outlined by a borderline and the Mickey heads aren't cut off. It's hard to explain but easy to see, lol! Sometimes at the Disney parks, the mystery pins carry a more intense process, usually a cast member that has a mystery pin will ask you a question about Disney history or make you sing a song like one cast member made me do once. It's super fun! I'm surprised nobody made you answer a question, usually their mystery ones are worth it since they're rare. Trust me, it's so much fun at the parks! I can't wait to see more videos of you guys pin trading!!! ❤️

Disney Vacation Club booths usually have pins but nobody goes to them! They always get very excited to trade :)

I know this video is older now but I LOVE pin trading! My advice is to buy a pack of random pins from eBay! Also in Epcot mid day there are professional pin traders who stand by the fountains and trade with other guests :)
I use to pin trade all the time! You get to meet all kinds of people when you do it! I remember I traded for a $50 set one time. It was pirates set with Mickey and the gang.

Man, I love that Star Wars at sea one you found. That’s very rare and you were super lucky to find it since they usually only sell those aboard the cruise ships for that event. Awesome!

You got to check out the pin king at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. We pin trade every time we come down. The resorts are the best. Really fun to go around and check them all out while pin trading. We will be down for the 4th of July. Cannot wait!!!!!

You would have loved disney springs today then. So many chaser hidden Mickey pins! Today was my first day trading so much fun!
Pin trader since 8 years old- best pins to trade are “extra” ones. We went on a Disney cruise and booked through AAA so there was a special Mickey pin. We got 3. I kept one and traded away 2. Plus tons of guests wanted those. I very rarely have traded with non-cast members. Most parkgoers know that if you’re wearing a pin, there’s a good chance it’s special to you. It’s not a big deal to say no. I’ve said no lots of times and everyone has always understood.

We stocked up on pins at the Vineland outlet, they had a few starter sets in when we were there in April for $9.99-14.99. I got 6 TsumTsum pins for $9.99, it was a great way to get started and because I just bought what was cheap I wasn't too attached to them to trade them.

I love pin trading :D I have special ones I wear on my lanyard and then I have ones for trade in a pack I carry around! The cast member's MUST trade with you, they cannot refuse!
