This book, and the one for Dracula, kept me going through a week of Measles while on holiday in Brittany back in the early 80s. There was no cassette player in the cottage, so my parents played the tapes from the car through my bedroom window. The cover of Frankenstein used to terrify me.
Great to hear this again. I loved these ladybird horror classics, read them cover to cover. Thanks for uploading. You just would not see this made today.
Loved this! I have the whole collection but only Dracula is complete with casette. One small detail, you should have scanned the pages corresponding to the audio.
This retelling is amazingly up-front for an abridged children's version. I'm impressed with its accuracy, but I don't think we'd see something like this made today.
Thanks so much for uploading this! I loved Ladybird books as a child and I owned and read Ladybird Horror Classics, The Mummy and Dracula over and over again. These books were filled with truly beautiful, not to mention terrifying, illustrations and the voice acting and atmosphere of the audiobook readings is excellent.
John Bowles did you ever have any of the Marvel comic / Power Records presents... series ??? I had all them also in addition to these.. they were more campy and pulp but a must for Classic Monster lovers
Wow! Thank you for uploading. I’d seen a few of the old Ladybird horrors, from the early 80s weren’t they? I wish they’d still make great stuff like this now.

John Bowles it’s was the atmosphere, and a child’s (ours!) imagination, doing all the work. Far more effective than any film EVEN a Hammer horror.

The book was illustrated by my late father Jon Davis Mbe
♥️ your father did beautiful work. I recently purchased the series of books on eBay. God bless
The cover for this book scared the hell out of me as a kid. I couldn’t look at it.
