Netgear has still yet to add MLO support to their devices. I have their top of the line router the Nighthawk RS700S and still waiting to see if they ever add support for MLO.
I did not have temperature issues with the U7 Pro. I did encounter severe heat management problems with the U7 Pro Max which have not been fixed with the official firmware updates.
1000-2000 mbps for dl/ul for eap-773 for wifi7 6ghz 320mhz @ 5 meters in same room with direct line of sight. @ 10 meters it prefer to fall back to 5ghz then the speed drops down to 300-400 mbps dl/ul small-medium home will have full coverage with a single ap, with good signal. Worse signal i saw was yellow. Barely any red areas. eap does not have a fan, it does get warm with 24/7 usage, but i didn't notice any issue for that. guess the passive cooling works? The ubiquiti in comparison has a fan. Between the 2, it's easier to open up the eap-773 if you need to. eap-773 can self host the controller on your own server. i do it on my nas with docker. You can even use it without a controller, by using just the ap only, but it will have limited features. omada software u dont have to register tplink online account/sign in (instead u can use a local account), don't have to put email (unless u expect for 2fa reset to work. but even without it you can simply hardware reset and import your backup config), you can disable cloud, you aren't forced to use the mobile app but you can if you want to. setting up the eap-773 via either mobile app, or the browser web ui is easy. if you are expecting slightly higher than 2000 mbps -3000 mbps, the eap-773 ain't it. the eap-873 i speculate might. the asus zen wifi7 pro can based on the reviews.

Does the U7 Pro Max still run very hot? I think that's my biggest concern since some users on Reddit reported they're too hot to touch even when idling.
Mine is running sort of hot, but I think that is somehow due to the plastic transferring the heat better than normal plastic? I didn't have any problems with the temperature.
Much appreciated the in-depth explanations and testing! Would you happen to know by any chance if the U7 wall variants also received (in early access or otherwise) MLO?
It seems they have removed the update from early access, I remember being on it and having mlo but now I’m on version 7.0.69 and have no available early access updates
@@austinh_ethgo to the releases page, it’s still there. That your controller considers 7.0.x an upgrade to 7.1.x is because it considers a more recent firmware ‘newer’, regardless of the version it lists. UBNT pushed a 7.0 update, so your controller (and mine) think that’s the highest version :(
To me it appears that it is not mature yet. Maybe at the end of next year we will have better software and more hardware clients and routers.

ty for the update sam
I'm not finding QCN6274 or Fastconnect 7800 adapter anywhere, where did you buy it?
What about tempereature? Is it fixed in newer versions of firmware or still not?

you don't need to use msi driver for the wireless network card. the only part from msi is the PCIe adaptor, so you're free to use qualcomm driver.
Thx for the update!! I am undecided between Unifi and Omada EAP 773. It will be nice if you review as well this Omada for comparison!
Thanks!!

I have had mine since July and I haven’t noticed it rubbing hot reaching any issues. I have also never heard a fan running.
I have 3 of them and they get super hot to the touch, but it hasn't affected performance.

Unfortunately no. I only bought the U7 Pro and the Pro Max. Ubiquiti didn't send me any unit.
U7 Pro Wall doesn't have the firmware yet to support MLO. I suspect sometime in Nov/Dec '24 hopefully...
