It is a curved blade that is designed to enter the intestines, and penetrate the heart in an upwards thrust, preventing the blade getting stuck on ribs. As a result the blade curves upwards from the handle.
I tied to copy the knife from historic photos, mainly the one in the Jerusalem museum.
