I loved the H.C. Andersen stories when I was growing up. The Ugly Duckling was my favorite. Nellie may not understand quite yet but she will eventually and it is good for us understanding our worth. I loved reading to my children and they loved it too. It is a special time together. Your Staffin cardigan is looking beautiful.
So happy to hear you are reading to Nellie even though she is very young. I read to both my children every day from the time they were maybe 3-4 months old and they both are excellent readers and had no school problems. Because his sister would come home from school and"teach" him every day what she had learned in school he could read a newspaper at the age of four.
I loved reading H.C. Andersen’e fairytales for my kids many many years ago, so I had to buy CamijoKnit’s advent 2024, it brings back so many wonderful memories. But now I have to figure out what to knit. I will have a look at Zigzag Zen Blanket by Anniina. Thank you Inga for your lovely podcast that keeps me company while I knit. 🥰
Hello from a chilly Poland. I had to pop in just to say how much I enjoy your vlogs. I have been watching them for some time now and find them so incentive. Your little girl is adorable and I love that you read to her. I remember all those fairytale stories too and it warms my heart to be reminded of them. I take my hat off to you that you are able to knit such beautiful garments being so busy with such a little one. I look forward to your next vlog. Sending warm wishes your way ❤
I love the fact that you're reading to Nelli throughout Advent! Even if she doesn't remember, she will come to associate reading with you with comfort and love ... and you will remember! You are remarkably prolific in terms of knitting output despite being mum to a little one. Have a wonderful December! xx
Your blanket is coming along beautifully, your textural knitting is very good. If I win the competition I am going to buy four cones of the woolyknit Arran weight 🧶 yarn. Great Christmas 🎄🎁 video👍.
Hi Inga, i had such a cozy start this morning, coffee, support spindle spinning and your lovely episode 😊 So happy to hear you’re enjoying the Saga yarn. I love it! Just finished knitting a Santa hat & mittens for my grandson in it, color 120. I held three strands together and it knit up perfectly. You might want to check out Rebecca Clow’s Daft Days shawl pattern for your alpaca minis. Enjoy your holiday season! Looking forward to your next episode 🥰
My tradition is to set up vegetables for a fermented Christmas barszcz ^^ its Polish traditional soup, it's served with a tiny mushroom dumplings. The base needs about 10-14 days to be ready, it's also awesome to drink like a juice, lots of vitamins 🤩 Before I also made lots and lots of crochet snowflakes, when I lived in countries without snow... Now I usually get the snow in my beloved Finland 😍
Yea ! another fun video that gets my knitting mojo going! I’m working on the difficult “Drawing” sweater that I would love to finish by Christmas! Plus the WK+KTBlanketalong! And I really need some new mittens! Stay warm! ClaudiaSJI
I just started knitting in 2021 but growing up our unofficial Christmas making tradition was going to Christmas Eve church service then coming home and frantically sewing most of the night while watching old movies in order to complete gifts by Christmas morning.
Hi Inga, thanks for another episode. It has really advent vibe to me. We have been baking gingerbread and making gingerbread cottage. My son has added six dogs, who lives in there. I always let him decorate the gingerbread cottage, since I'm an engineer to build the thing.😊 Thank you for mentioning H. C. Andersen, I love his fairy tales. Good idea to read them with my kids. Have a happy time with Nelli, enjoy the advent season and your knitting.
Hi Inga, it was so lovely spending time with you today. Wow, lots of great inspiration for projects and yarns. I also grew up with Hans Christian Anderson, loved the the stories when I was young and still love them now I'm old. I am so grateful to my Mother and Grandmother who read to me alot when I was little. Like knitting I love reading. Take care and happy holidays to you and your family.
My family tradition is skiing outside and making several kinds of gingerbread throughout the month 😅 lots of work but it’s always so fun to bake with littles, especially when they can’t be outside as long as I can!
I understand there is a statue of HC Anderson in the US NY Central Park. Recently I became aware there is also one in California, in the town of Solvang. ❤
Reading the stories is a wonderful activity. Nellie May not get much reading from it, but the sound of your patterns of speech and holding her or being with her cuddling will give her lots of good things. If you don’t start some activities, when will you know exactly when she will get exactly what you want out of it. She will learn to sit with you and look at books and know it is a good time. My children remember reading together was fun. I’m an epidemiologist and was very busy. It was one of the times when I gave them my undivided attention. You are fabulous. I thought you were pretty, intelligent, and a great knitter. now I add that you are a lovely mama. Kudos to you
It will be so fun for you with Nellie! I love the Amy slipover. I'm sure your mom will be happy with it. I'm still looking for the pattern or something similar here in the USA. Happy holidays to you and your family. 🎉
Hi Inga, thank you for your uploads on your knitting updates. I enjoy watching what you are working on with great interest, you are such a talented, productive knitter. Can I suggest the Baby Kisses cardigan by Rian Anderson as i have just finished knitting one in acrylic yarn for my grand baby. It flew off the needles as it was DK and easy. Much love from Shetland ❤
Oh I was waiting for your video ❤😊😊 thank you I couldn’t find the link to purchase Amy slipover I tried before too but the I was no chance to find it in English
Wow this was wonderful! I love the sweater you are wearing! It is gorgeous! So much fun to see your Xmas gifts and your beautiful wips! Have a beautiful Xmas season !
I got the Zakami llama too (and the nsw merino 😊). I still can’t knit due to the pesky tennis elbow I need to fix. I did have a look at what I wanted to make though. Helen Stewart of Curious Handmade has been doing Knitvent collections that I’ve just discovered! I think I’ll be making one of Helen’s shawls. I quite like the look of Twenty Four Birds round shawl as well! 😘😘
So lovely to see what you have been up to! The Olympia is stunning. I wonder if it’s possible to change out the ribbon for different colours…. Very pretty and ethereal (yes, that’s a word!)😊. I loved H.C. Anderson’s stories as a child too: such a beautiful idea to read a story a day with your daughter ❤! A family tradition we had when my boys were small was to set up a playmobil village / castle on the windowsill and each advent Sunday, we would add something to the decorations… little fairy lights, a mini live Christmas tree, “snow”…. It was so much fun and was lovely to look at both from inside and from the street. Would you mind explaining please how you knit holding 2 strands from a cone?? Enjoy your December and advent!
How fun to start traditions with Nelli, even though she's so young. You can take photos and write down the memories for her. We have a "Christmas Memories" book in which I record details of special events, foods, outings, Christmas Eve and morning and include our family's card, usually with a photo. Each book lasts for 20 years; we're on the third volume! 💕
I'm in the United States and I was recently able to purchase the Sandnes Garn booklet with the Amy slipover in English on ebay. The seller included a skein of Peer Gynt. It was a bit pricey coming from Germany but it was worth it for me plus there are some other patterns in the book that interest me. I had checked a few shops online (mostly in Canada) but I was unable to find it listed for sale.
Here in The Netherlands we celebrate “Sinterklaas” on December 5th. He’s very much like Santa Claus, he apparently lives in Spain and comes to The Netherlands bearing gifts for the children (only those who are well behaved of course 😜) and delivers them on his birthday, which is on the 5th. We also celebrate Christmas like everyone else, so the month of December is always extra festive 😊
Wow- what a prodigious amount of knitting!! Convinced you must knit in your sleep.😂 All lovely knits x

Another lovely episode. Happy Holiday 🎄! Happy knitting 💚🧶🩷
I love the color red on you, Inga. I'm also excited for you and how magical your Christmases will now that you have your beautiful daughter! 🥰❤️🎄💚

You unlocked a childhood memory for me when you mentioned the nutcracker mini book/advent. I totally had one too and just remembered it! ❤❤
Love that!🥰🎅🏼
Always so excited to see you! What a wonderful time of year for you!

Growing up in the US, we all were raised on Hans Christian Andersen stories! What a Lovely project and you can read them each year with Nellie!

That’s the perfect “red” for you. No need to stoop down to the average Xmas color! 😂😂😂
Love the Advent calendar representing stories: great idea!

Yes changing it would be very easy! I have to wind off some yarn as a ball or cake first then i jold it with the cone strand🤗

Hi Inga ! Would you mind d sharing the recipe for Christmas sausages ? Would love that !
I need to wait for my aunt to want to share it first! I know its a mix of beef and pig and deer
Excellent!
Where can I find the Amy Slipover pattern? You have got me wanting to make one ❤

For some reason we say H.C. Andersen in Norway but the rest of the world calls him Hans Christian Andersen.
🍀💕
Can you please tell me where can I find pattern for sock which you make as a tube and cut
I learnt it from watching a vlog tutorial by the republic of me🤗
Bonjour de France Inga, où je regarde toutes tes vidéos. Merci !
