You're responsible for getting me interested in many different games. I buy alot of games you play the same day you release a video on them because they're right up my alley.
@ Dan Berry. They are dirt cheap on steam and still hold up to this day as some of the best RTS games out there. Most peoples favorite is stronghold crusaders (first one) or just stronghold (first one)
The archers and other ranged units in the game are projectile based, meaning their arrows have an actual trajectory. So placing them on walls and in towers up above the enemies, rather than just having them stand behind the walls, makes them a lot better as they can hit enemies much much easier.
You should really always be trying to expand, until your castle fills most of the map. Always be working on increasing your population whether that's building houses or expanding food production. Having archers, or preferably crossbowmen on the walls is much much better than having a standing army on the ground. A squad of spearmen and crossbowmen are super good for clearing out enemies on the map. You should be building defenses based off of where the enemy is coming from, and you should be building way way way way more towers to put troops on. You don't need walls or defenses for the first wave, but by the second wave you should at least have a tower in the direction the wave is coming from, and by the third wave you should have walls going. You need to focus on building walls a lot sooner than you did. You really desperately don't want to have people die, that way you never have to build a cemetery, gravedigger, or hospital. It makes a massive difference starting on the research ASAP. Your realization towards the end of the VOD about having a strong permanent core, but a temporary, changing exterior where your resources are is accurate. You need to focus on building your food producers all in one area, and putting granaries as close to them as possible. Same with resources, you need to build a lot of storages near your resource collectors. You may not think you need the storage SPACE, but you do need the storages to keep your workers from having to walk all the way to the Town Hall to deliver resources. Cutting down on worker travel time by building storages nearby is MASSIVE, and MASSIVELY increases your production. The swordsman aren't great, but the spearmen are super good, especially once you get healers. For the obelisks, start by building the basic one ASAP, you can upgrade it instead of having to build the other ones, so it doesn't double cost you the resources. The same goes for all buildings, if you build wood walls you can upgrade them to stone walls and it only costs you the stone not the wood you already spent on them. Also, leave gaps in between buildings so workers can get around.

*80 people die* "Go, my singular grave digger!" *Everyone gets sick from corpses lying around* "I don't know why they're so ill" It hurt a little at times, but I still enjoyed the video XD

The fish huts produce a lot more food than the berry huts do, you can't really sustain yourself off of only berry picker huts. Really, once you unlock farms you want to rely on farms as your primary food source.
Glad to hear that even The Master is struggling with this game. I picked this up on the 18th, and I immediately was like "wow this game is great, but holy shit it's hard!"
I think you dismissed fountains too quickly. I wasn’t paying attention to costs etc, but I believe you said it adds 2 pops per house it’s next to. Meaning 16 per 4 house square. Meaning 64 per 4 square block. That’s 64 archers for one fountain
The word "cellist" is always confusing me, because my first language is Czech, and although the imported word Cello means the musical instrument as well, there's also the native czech word "čelo", which means forehead. So if i hear someone in english say the word "cellist", it sounds like someone who deals with foreheads. Also, "Cellist" is pronounced exactly the same as ANOTHER czech word "čelist", which means JAW. Sooo. Chellist sounds like someone who deals with a lot of foreheads. And jaws. Or maybe he does something TO the foreheads WITH his jaw? I think Cellist might be someone who bites people's foreheads off? Yeah, that sounds about right. It makes a lot more sense than "a male dude playing an instrument that forces the player to spread legs so much it might rip the scrotum into two distinct uniball holding pockets".
Having played frostpunk? There is *a right way* to play it, It's pretty fun but it's not super replayable. It's great for 1-3 runs a campaign, but it's no RimWorld or SimCity 4
Ah yes not hurt eye vod good. Feel nice 2.5d plane of existence I just realized he posted this at an alright time hopefully not midnight for him might catch a stream
If a game takes a formula and makes it a more enjoyable experience, is it really necessary to add more? Over longer timespans, adding good things and removing bad things is definitely something that needs to be done just to keep things fresh.

A lot of the games he covers are like one-offs in early access.
Ooooooh, this already looks fun! Kind of reminds me of growing up watching my dad play the Stronghold games.
Damn I'm old.
@@Aleasanti Me too buddy. Me too.
Holy shit man :') one of the best strategy games ever. Feeling old, first time in my life now.

So glad I found you relatively recently. Such an entertaining streamer; your long form content is basically the only long form I watch!

@@Zetro_Hermit You are correct, let me see if I can fix that. It was late, and I was mildly intoxicated when I first wrote the comment.
@@Zetro_Hermit There, I broke the info up into chunks.
This is solid advice. I also recommend building a lot of logging camps early. You cannot have enough wood in this game.
@@ianallen738 Yes, especially early game, the quicker you get wood the quicker you can expand in general

fun fact you don't starve untill the second consecutive day you've had 0 food
Im sorely glad he did front to back build with the houses lol
“I enjoy the mental anguish”
Definitely playing as the 1%. Not capitalisms though. It's monarchy and feudalism here. The original 1%.
Once you get as far behind as you did, losing houses and people repeatedly to waves, you should just restart. Like you said, the game snowballs.
Yo you're friends with Splattercat? He's one of my favorites, I've been watching that guy for years.
This game looks heavily inspired by kingdoms and castles. Give that one a go Ambiguous!
They Are Billions is way closer. There's a castle and nothing more looks alike between this game and "kingdom and castle".

This game is a lot of fun, even with the early-access balance issues. It'll be a huge hit once they get things ironed out.
