Phil... I found a copy of Moonfleet in a thrift store back in the 1990s in Philadelphia. I love reading old books. The point is... I started playing backgammon soon after reading it and even penned that same quote on the top of my Backgammon set. I’ve been playing for 20 odd years ever since! Thank you for letting me know I’m not entirely crazy!
Wow! Awesome build and love the video. I love the jig you used with the vice to plane the box down after cutting it in half. I have just picked up a Record 52 quick release vice at a car boot for a tenner so might need to borrow that one :)
Amazing job Phil :) You can tell that it's with great passion that you embarked on this project. I'm a passionate backgammon player myself, and I thought you might be interested in checking out Bali Backgammon on Instagram. Just search for it there and you will find it. It was my own backgammon passion project during my 9 months in Bali, trying to spread the love for the game to this part of the world.
Excellent craftsmanship!
Thank you kindly!
Great board and video, thanks. Would like to know how you did the vinyl...?
Thanks for watching! I cut them on a vinyl cutter at work 😁
@@PhilMakesThings Cheers pal. One more question if you dont mind....what paint did you use?
Oh it was just the cheapest spray paint I could lay my hands on. 👍 If I were doing it again I’d break out the Montana Gold.
@@PhilMakesThings Thanks again pal.
Very enjoyable video, especially with the tie to the quote. Thanks for taking the time to film and edit the process
Thank you very much for watching. It was one of my favourite books as a kid. Must have read it at least 5 or 6 times.
Very nice work phil enjoyed watching the video with the story behind it thanks for sharing
BIGBOY'S DIY Thanks for watching! It's been on my list for ages, and I'm glad it's finished!
Awesome
Good to see it completed mate. Really nice to see it come together with some nice touches, including the copper plate..... And the bloopers😉👍
Brody Lambden Thank you very much squire! Bloopers... I've got a hundred of them 😂
Lovely job Phil and nice story to go with it 😁
Thanks Alan. I'm trying to put a story or a reason to the things I make... that's the plan anyway 😂
Really enjoyed that one. Nice story behind it too. Glad to see it finally finished.
I'm glad it's finished too 😂

No, it’s not just you. Our numbers are small, but we are real 👍 Thanks for watching.

Vice and a bench hook: endless possibilities! The best thing I did with the bench is fit the vice. Get it cleaned and bolted on your bench!
Loved it Phil. Top job!
Cheers Jim! All I need to do now is teach Mrs. Things to play. 🤷♂️
Well sir that was brilliant, I love seeing old wood given a new life. I don't envy you having to do that glue up, looked rather troublesome.
You didn't see the first three attempts at the glue up, nor did you hear the swearing. It was bluer than a blue bicycle parked against a policeman
That's pretty blue.
🤣 you're not wrong!
Very nice. I love the graphics
The copper plate at the end? Yeah, last minute addition!
Wow, what a brilliant build. love playing backgammon so this means a lot more to me than others.
Well done it looks excellent!
Paul Lockwood Thank you very much Sir!
Lovely build mate!
Ta very much 👍
Ah, Moonfleet. I remember doing that at school too. Good job Phil!
It's worth a read as a grown up! Won't take long 😀
My to-read list is already quite long.
lol, love the bloopers :)
Thank you... I'm watching your pencil box video at the moment 👍
@@PhilMakesThings Oh awesome! I have two of them now! I think the third box I might try some finger joints to class it up a little :)
Can you give me the sizes pls
They can be anything you want really, but the play boards on this were 9”x12”
@@PhilMakesThings Thank you 🙏 💐
