Not officially diagnosed with POTS but I suspect it. I thought I was crazy for still loving hot showers even though they exhaust me, so it is nice to know I'm not the only one. I just found your channel a while ago after trying to find out other peoples POTS stories and your channel has been so helpful.

You just have to decide if it's worth it to you. I love hot showers so much that I make it work for me! :)

Yes to planning time for rest after a shower if you can! I'm a morning shower person and I need to schedule this into my day. I don't have POTS but my biggest help is having a shower seat/stool. It has been a life saver for me. We now have a small fold up one that lives in the car incase we go away for a weekend. And yes please to a clothes video, this is something that is a struggle between cute, feeling good and comfort.

Oh that's so smart to have a shower chair in the car just in case. I will do a video for cute and comfortable winter clothes soon!

I take hot showers, too - so relaxing!! I, too, try to do them at night when possible, since I always sleep better when I do.
Usually I'm doing well enough that I can stand (I have suction cup handles on the shower wall that I can grab if I start to lose my balance), but when I'm flaring, I have to sit on the floor of the tub to shower (still a few things I have to stand for, but I'll sit for everything else). I considered getting a shower chair of some sort when I started having issues with showering, but with having to stand for some things no matter what, and the way I have to move around, plus the fact that I'm so short that my feet would still be dangling anyway (making my body think it's still standing, completely negating the reason for the chair in the first place), I opted to go without.
Instead, I have a high velocity showerhead on a 6 1/2ft hose, which is long enough to reach to the bottom of the back of my tub, and I have a suction cup showerhead holder that I can stick anywhere and angle any way I need to, so that I can still have the water coming down from above me without having to hold it myself and it's somewhere that I can still reach it easily (too difficult to leave it in its normal bracket when showering on the floor of the tub - before I got the adjustable one, I had to stand up to get it off its bracket ever time I needed to change the angle). I have to have the water warm enough, and running pretty much the entire time, or else I freeze (that has been true since I was about 6, many years before the POTS hit full force - I guess one of the earliest signs). The inside ledge of my tub isn't wide enough for it, so I have a suction cup handle on the inside wall level with the outside ledge, and I use those to help me get up and down in the tub (my EDS is such that my elbows can take the strain).
I also take everything I'm going to need for the entire shower down from the shelves they normally live on so that I don't have to reach up to get them, and if I unexpectedly end up having to sit during the shower, they're already within reach.
My exhaust fan is really powerful, so as soon as I open the shower curtain when I'm done, I get hit with a big blast of cool dry air, keeping me from overheating and helping me to dry faster (if the water isn't warm enough, or the air isn't cold enough, it takes far longer for me to dry off, and if the air's too warm, sometimes I'll actually overheat because I can't get dry fast enough) - I was able to avoid it for a few years, but lately, I've had to sit on the edge of the tub wrapped in my towel for several minutes afterwards because showering makes me so tired (way better than it used to be 6 years ago, though, when I had to lay on the floor for 10-20 minutes immediately after every shower just to regain enough energy to get dressed).
And I'm usually pretty thirsty when I get out of the shower, so I always make sure I have something to drink ready to go for afterwards.

I take hot showers and then turn the water cold for a minute at the end and that helps cool me off and I don’t feel as drained when I get out.

Hot shower...hot shower...what's that again? It's been so long since I've had one that I've forgot what they are lol. Gotta love POTS. Not😒. But in all seriousness, a shower chair helps me tremendously. Also, I keep a comb in the shower to comb my hair post-washing while I'm still seated. That too has been a big help because standing after showering to comb my long, curly, tangled hair was exhausting and evoked more symptoms than the actual shower.
    Great video as always💙.

Yes to the post-shower hair combing being difficult! I am looking into getting a wide-tooth comb for in the shower. I have long, really thick hair and it can be a beast! I have to rest as soon as I'm dried and dressed (sometimes not even completely dressed). It's annoying that I have to go back to the bathroom later to brush and style my hair (usually just a braid or ponytail or bun) and brush my teeth. Maybe I should start brushing my teeth before my shower...

I also do a shower in evening. It does help my body to relax and sleep better. If I take one during the day I find my heart rate goes up really high and sometimes my legs get really shaky like they are going to crumble underneath me.

I take really cold water and drink throughout the shower. And keeping any fans or door open for cold air circulating helps too

I find that a shower seat help me and a extra long shower brush to wash with and to have the electric blanket on.
And I have P.O.T.S fibromyalgia and a long list.
Thank you for doing this video and all the ones you do.
Merry Xmas to you and your family and friends 🌲. And Happy new year 🎉

Please do a wardrobe episode. This was helpful. I guess I really like a bath, but it can’t be too hot. I will try using our bath/shower combo with your ideas. I seriously thought I was the only one who needs a rest after a shower. Good to know I’m not alone with that.

I don't have POTS but other autoiummune diseases and showers make me tired too! Great idea on sitting, never occurred to me, may even look at getting a chair, but a cute one, not a hospital style. Still getting used to the fatigue.

Sooo the same Amy. I have to take my socks off at night. But if I have to shower in the morning and have to rest after I don't have enough energy or strength to get my compressions on. And we shower the same sitting in the tub. Plus it's painful but the heat from the shower water does do some Therapy. does help
