    In conclusion, the diverse array of philosophical perspectives presented offers a rich tapestry of human thought and inquiry. From existentialism's emphasis on individual meaning to nihilism's rejection of inherent truths, each philosophy provides a unique lens through which to understand the complexities of existence. Whether advocating for personal freedom like anarchism or promoting societal harmony like communitarianism, these philosophies reflect humanity's ongoing quest to grapple with the fundamental questions of life, morality, and reality.

    This dude used icons for philosophies from Polcompball, Polcompball Anarchy and Philosophyball. The problem is: he used them completely wrong:
    Existentialism here is some random self insert ideology from polcompball anarchy
    Absurdism here is Aestheticism
    Nihilism here is American Liberalism
    Stoicism here is Anarcho-Individualism
    Virtue Ethics is Atheism
    Consequentliism is Collectivism
    Deontology is Darwinism
    Utilitarianism is icon for Jacque Derrida
    Rationalism is fucking Environmentalism
    Empiricism is Foundationalism
    Constructionism is Liberal Hawks
    Skepticism is Gold Standard
    Critical Theory is…i dunno actually, but definitely not it
    Idealism here is Humanism
    And Realism here is Human Nationalism

      I would agree and disagree. I believe the best course is a combination of different philosophies that complement each other. To confine yourself to one way of thinking can lead to discourse. I believe that (from my observations), people are closing themselves off because of their beliefs. I’m a Christian, that is my basis for philosophy. It doesn’t align with any one type of philosophy. At least I don’t believe that it does. But as a Christian I need to understand every type of thinking. Most people don’t adhere to one type of philosophy. They go from one to another whenever one is defeated. Almost like they’re trying to prove their point no matter what they have to resort to. I’m after the truth and facts, but I still care enough to try to be kind even though I don’t care about feelings over facts. I just love hearing people talk about their lives. Things that have affected them. I don’t like arguing, but I will defend my beliefs. I would love to hear some of your experiences. And I hope that they lead you to God. At the same time I don’t want you to be deceived. I love people, even though there are many that I dislike. But I always try to avoid hatred. Do you see how my thinking doesn’t apply to just one philosophy? Or am I mistaken? I’m open for honest discussions. But I will make sure of how you define things. But that’s mostly because I see how people have been miseducated. God bless you and yours.

      @@bsrodeo7s God bless you too you're just overthinking dude philosophy isn't that deep irl people change, mind change and choices change it's okay to grow out of a mindset to another or even have mixed opinions in the end we are just learning stuff so no need to overthink it

      @@alicealexandersaint honestly I’m not overthinking anything. I have family in Japan and I understand the effects of stoicism. Philosophy is making people stupid. I have people arguing that theories are facts. Other people have become pathological liars. There are so many types of philosophy, and yet people are still arguing about freewill. They’re twisting things to suit their narrative, they don’t care about facts or definitions. It’s becoming a problem. Thank you for your civil response, but you still didn’t answer my question. Typical.

      @alicealexandersaint Месяц назад +1

      @@bsrodeo7s what was your question? Your thinking definitely don't apply to one philosophy. People who think theories are facts should really rethink and reflect. Some philosophies works better for other people and some don't benefit at all everyone is unique and not everyone can have the same mindset and if philosophy is making you stupid just don't read that stuff easy! It's not for everyone

      @@alicealexandersaint really, I was just responding to your comment, but I wanted to understand your perspective. I appreciate you sharing, and being honest. I’ve talked with and dealt with so many different people that I realized how one way of thinking can be divisive, and manipulative. Most people just want to convince others that their way of thinking is the right way. I enjoy listening to people. I ask questions about anything that I hear that doesn’t sound right. Some people will lie and lie, and dig themselves into a hole trying to defend their lies until they get caught in their lies. My truths always remain the same. Thanks for sharing. I appreciate the discussion. Also, you are correct that people should accept that theories are not facts. But people need to learn that just because they don’t agree, doesn’t make it false. God bless you.

      Can we say that existence is being a live ie. being present in a physical form in the universe?

    • @philosophemes
      @philosophemes 2 месяца назад +1

      @@keirbowie1862 According to this video, you self-define the meaning of existence. I'm not trying to be critical though, so that's why I asked the question. Overall I'd say the problem is that "existentialism" is defined, here, according to Sartre's philosophy. That's a standard approach that you can find all over the internet, but it's inaccurate. For example, Heidegger would have absolutely disagreed with that statement, and, in fact, he did. Heidegger referred to Sartre's philosophy as "trash." Plus, what about Kierkegaard? But anyone who claims they can teach you the "history of ALL ideas" in under 8 mins, certainly must be joking. Same with this video, I don't think it's even possible to read off all the names of "every school of philosophy," let alone explain them all in under 10 minutes, but I don't want to discourage anyone who is trying to make money. They may have a family to feed or something and could use the views.
      To directly address your question: I think you certainly could define existence that way, but I'm curious if you would feel as though you had gained any knowledge, if someone told you that existence means "being alive, i.e. being present in a physical form in the universe." It might be helpful to consider terms like "species" and "nature" and "time" to work up a definition that helps us decide whether there is any (inherent) meaning to existing. Even Sartre would want us to think about "freedom."
      Lastly, this video's definition lends itself to Absurdism. For example, does this definition mean that "if you're depressed, then it's your fault," since your existence can mean whatever you want it to mean? Something about that doesn't seem right. Merleau-Ponty famously said that existence is something that we are always already coping with. That seems to suggest a reality to existence. A reality that has meaning. To exist should be something like: to be situated in a way that makes sense to characterize in terms of destiny and fate. But, to say existence is self-defined seems to deny the possibility of destiny or fate. Sartre's ontology is sexy, but it's trash.
