Thanks so much for putting this on - have so many great memories of good old McKeesport, what a great town- remember the Christmas parades so very well, especially love seeing the old big red bells they used to put up every year- was always a great place to be at Christmas time back then.
Thanks for posting these great videos of a once great city. Having lived there during this time, I can tell you that the city was once full of life and pride. Its so sad to think about it now. Today it is a shell of it's former self. Most of the stores are closed and the streets are dangerous even in the daytime.
This was once a great town and city to live in ! They had everything and more than the city of Pittsburgh. From 4 department stores, 10 shoe stores, toy stores, automobiles and appliances dealers, and quality mens and womens clothing ! President John Kennedy chose McKeesport to make his presence and give a campaign speech in 1960. It had 2 main rivers, steel mills up and down the rivers, Kennywood and Rainbow Gardens amusement parks. It had 4 movie theaters, many times playing 2 movies, multiple drug stores, record stores, doctors offices, and a hospital ! It had several quality bakeries and specialty butcher shops. Transportation included cars with plenty of parking for car traffic, street cars and buses, and auto repair shops. Every Christmas there was a large parade with Santa Claus ! Today, like many other older, small cities, the politics of big business took over. I guess the sin of "convenince" led us to large shopping centers and malls. It's sinful in a way, but the good memories will never die. I was happy to be a part of it, but I'm sad that my children and grandchildren never to experience it.
Great film. Love the decorations. But where are the marching bands? I only see majorettes with drums? I know back then there were high school marching bands. Love marching bands. Nice to see this thou.

McKeesport doesn’t look like this today I wonder why? Sad what it is today especially when u see what it used to be.
Mill's Closed. My brother lived in Glassport in the 90's and we use to go through McKeesport all the time to visit him, and it was a Ghost Town then.

I see youtube banning more and more comments on innocuous vids... and I have been on here for years. Why is that?
