    How do you hook up the MPSA06 transistor, it has 3 pins.. where do they connect to ?

    Is it possible to have the diodes activate via a foot switch ? I have Menatone Red Snapper overdrive I run in front of a handmade jcm800 tube preamp pedal. I recently found out that “the magic” in the pedal is a 12v zener diode (this is the most natural sounding overdrive I’ve ever used….sounds like and extra preamp tube ! )……?

      Adding clipping to your amp wouldn't be expensive.

    where are you jumpering these in? do you have a layout you can link?

    • @groundzeroampworks780

      You run a 10k resistor from the cathode follower to a .22 capacitor. From there you run a pair of diodes with opposing polarities in parallel with a 1 meg resistor from the .22 capacitor to ground.

      @@groundzeroampworks780 i did get a granger amps jose kit. It has a 1 meg pot. When i hooked it up just terrible noise i had to remove it all. Maybe their diagram had it going in the wrong spot. The 3rd gain stage on a 2204 would be V2a .it goes to an 820 ohm resistor then to ground

      @groundzeroampworks780  3 года назад +3

      @@johnmiller9219 Yes, my apologies. It's off of the cathode follower side of v2. You'll have a 100k to ground and you add the 10k to .22 cap.

      Is there a diode that cleans up with the guitar volume very well ? Or do none of them ?

    • @groundzeroampworks780

      @@Burkhimself Check out my newest Hellion video that I just uploaded today. There's a part where I switch to the neck pickup and get a very clean tone even at a super high gain setting

    Sounds good. Its almost like you can have too much with the 20v.

    so are these the diodes that engage with the sat switch?

    • @groundzeroampworks780
      @groundzeroampworks780  3 года назад +4

      Yes, that's correct. I had them on an alligator clip outside the amp for testing. My Detonator mod uses 6 values of diodes on a rotary switch so you get all the options at the turn of a knob.

      @@groundzeroampworks780 Thanks ya.
      I’m running .47 now with 12v, I like it, but I feel like it needs to be lower, it’s a lil bloated sounding. I did the 1 Meg paralleled with the diodes, but I don’t even know it’s function, I just put it because “that’s what people do”. I’m not even 24hrs into my first time messing with a clipper circuit.

      @@wethriveIn425 diodes are tricky. You’ve really got to dial in the amp around them to remove that compressed and bloaty feel.
