    Re your 30minute delay. I had a pilot friend who had a saying that might help. He'd say, "I'd rather be down here, wishing I was up there, instead of being up there, wishing I was down here."

    Nothing “pisses” me off is when the person behind you ask you to not put your seat back, however, when you get up and notice the person has their seat reclined into the person behind them.

    I was doing a job in a chap in his 60s today, sadly he's autistic and epileptic. On leaving, he spots my 4x4 truck on 33s. He asks what engine, i told him 2.5 diesel. He then out of the blue told me MacMaster is in Australia and he doesn't like electric cars. I said, I know I watch too. 😅

      I think he was making a comment on modern commercial airline flight and coach overall.
      Frankly, getting confiscated stuff in Sydney is what started at all.
      Anyone who thinks error line trips are easier than it was pre-9-11 are nuts. In the United States if you have connecting flights at a hub, it takes almost as long to fly as it takes to drive if you’re going with that within 750 miles. Every single aspect of commercial air travel is worse. Attitude of staff, food, drinks, cleanliness, on time, performance, lost luggage, damaged luggage.
      And the unreliability of airlines have connecting flights on time, makes it the worst.

      @TerrArtist01 On a full flight from JFK to Orlando: a guy opposite me had a VERY nice guitar without a case, unfortunately he couldn't find a space in the overhead locker. He sat down, hiding it next to him near the window. A stewardess spotted it, couldn't find anywhere to put it and had it removed from the aircraft despite his protests.
      Last seen on my side of the aircraft in the hands of a very unsavoury looking ground handler... I don't know if he got it back or its condition. The guy was not a happy traveller.

If YOU DON'T agree with my choice may be YOU need to be more tolerant of other people and their choices. I am not responsible for your comfort, that was your choice when you choose an economy seat 😊

    • @philip4193
      @philip4193 2 месяца назад +1

      Yep! When I used to fly on Virgin a lot before the Pandemic from the T2 terminal, I was stopped virtually every single time I passed through security for an explosive-residue screening test; meanwhile there'd be tatted-up gang bangers & other nefarious-looking characters just sailing through ahead of me unchallenged. When I once asked the security personnel why this was the case, the response in hushed tones was "because we have a quota and you are a well-dressed, middle-aged white guy and we know that you'll be compliant and that you won't cause a fuss; those guys [nodding to said gangbangers nonchalantly sauntering past] who actually look like they need screening always scream 'discrimination', accuse us of racial profiling and become aggressive & confrontational, so it just isn't worth the hassle". Never once have I ever been pulled aside for extra screening in the Qantas T3 domestic terminal at Sydney., which I pass through at least a dozen times a year these days.

    We regularly travel to and from Europe and usually try to avoid Sydney airport at all costs. Crap logistics, usurious parking prices, exorbitant train fares into and out of the city, appalling airside facilities which are always under refurbishment or construction, inferior internal bus transfers between domestic and international terminals, major airlines hoarding slots that they don’t use as they suddenly cancel domestic flights that they had no intention of completing anyway. It’s dog eat dog and everything at an expensive price. Try Melbourne or Brisbane in preference.

      There is a reason why seats recline , because passengers need to lay backwards to support their backs on a long flight and to feel comfortable , if people in the front of you recline their seats , you also can recline your seat , I have heard this rubbish before about reclined seats and I don't understand the logic about it .
      Airlines would not have seats that recline if they can't be reclined because some passengers don't want others to be comfortable in their flight if the seat in front reclines and the seat behind it reclines , you still have the same amount of space so there is nothing about respecting someone elses space at all .

    OK mate firstly if you weren't meant to recline the seats they wouldn't have a recline option. What I would have done and I can't believe you didn't would be to ask the lady in front if she could bring her seat up a bit please, most people are fairly reasonable. Then I would of asked the person behind me if they were ok with me reclining my seat a tad. It's a lot more effective than just spending 5 hours whinging about it. There you go Daddy Long Legs, problem solved.😅 Remember that any landing you can walk away from is a good one. I would have loved to have done a vlog of my experience on Monarch Airways from Malaga to Gatwick and the crap experience that is Gatwick Airport (Yes I know Monarch went under, probably a good thing but BA aren't much better and neither is LHR) . 😅 Also, the Convict thing is getting a bit old dude, kind of like us making light of how the Vikings had their way with the French and the Normans to produce the British 😅😅😅😅. Also the reason the flight west takes longer is due to the Roaring 40s not the rotation of the earth, man you really need to do some more reading on these long flights.😅😅

      Can I ask....If you asked the person in front of you not to recline their seat and they said..."No," what would you do ? Would you respect their choice, or would you be upset because they didn't do what YOU wanted? 😊

    The crew usually ask that passengers do not recline their seat during meal service (at least on the many flights we've taken over the years) but this was rarely if ever enforced. Last time we were on a flight from Singapore to Sydney, the woman in front of me slammed her seat back just as dinner was being served right in front of the crew serving food and drinks. Didn't want to start a war by complaining but a quiet word from the crew to this insensitive nitwit would not have gone astray!

    Two things I agree with you on. Airport security make it up as they go along there are no protocols and they play games. Most flights seem to end with the plane being slammed onto the tarmac as opposed to landing it. As for leg room - pay for exit rows. Those seats can’t be reclined either.

    I had security do the same thing and question me regarding my prescription medication, telling me that the bottle was not the approved size. Like I have no ability to control the size of my medication bottle, which is a gel that I had to get a letter from my doctor for to be authorized to fly with because it is a controlled substance. I can not imagine what would happen if I fly with my injectables which has needles and I have to take along a sharps bin to toss the needles into but I can not dispose of them in the country I visit, I have to return with the needles in the same sharps bin. It sure looks like the regulations are designed to piss you off enough to prevent you from travelling.
    I have significant dietary restrictions and airline food will not work with these restrictions, I would always have to carry on my own food. Or I would opt to fast during the entire flight. I can relate with the challenges of being tall, by far the best flight I had was in Norway where people are significantly taller. But the rest of the world impeds those who are taller.

  • @AviationAdam
    @AviationAdam 2 месяца назад +1

    I never recline my seat if someone is behind me. The only time I’ll recline is if the row behind me is empty or if there’s a wall behind me so I can’t bother anyone. It happens to me a lot where somebody in front decides to fully recline their seat, it’s never just a little bit. Then I look around and see that nobody else has reclined. Some cabin crew tell passengers to put their seats upright during meal services. One thing I like about low cost airlines is that most of the time the seats don’t recline. At least then I don’t live in fear for the entire flight.

    I flown over a million miles over 50 years and to answer the question - you can recline when permitted by the crew but it should always be done slowly and respectfully. Worse is people who leverage themselves out of their seat by pulling the back of your seat and then catapulting you forward.

It’s happened to me I put my seat back maybe half way but carefully, a long haul flight you need to be comfortable sometimes.
