Oh my gosh your speech at the end of this video 😭😭😭😭😭 you are the cutest and it's sweet to acknowledge that although while we are all beautiful, insecurities are natural and I appreciate you taking the time to help everyone of every size! ❤💃
Many styles of middle eastern dance and folkloric dance also have higher coverage costumes as a standard, such as saidi and khaleegy styles. The 2-piece 'cabaret' costume came in at some point but is not particularly 'traditional'. Good tips for the 2-piece option also though!
Wow. I am just browsing random corners of youtube and i came across this video and its such an amazing video! You are absolutely beautiful, amazing tips and amazing advice!
When I started the video and saw that you were thin, I had little hope that this video would be useful. But you changed my mind. Thank you for this video and your comments at the end are on point!
awesome! ... all I can say.. really awesome! I'm not a belly dancer, but I love making costumes like that. I'll have so much help from you for the next summer festival outfits
I wish this video had been made earlier. Five years ago I has a belly dance presentation and had no clue of how to approach the design. Still I was able to make it work out but if one day I decide to go back into belly dancing I will definitely go with the arm bands and the poofier skirt.
Yes, every body IS beautiful, but your body ALSO belongs to YOU and you alone - you are the one to decide how much of it you want others to be able to see. I think it is important to remember that it isn't always about "covering imperfections" - it can very easily be that the dancer loves to dance, but would prefer their costumes to be a little more modest for their OWN comfort. Because a dancer who is comfortable and confident with their appearance (in whatever way THEY want it to be) gets the joy of focusing solely on the beauty of dance, instead of worrying about part of their costume.
I have a vertical c section scar, naval down my entire torso. Ideas for a top that would cover it?

Body (or belly) stocking with rhinestones or lace, as sparse or dense as you want them to be. The goal would be to create other "lines" that stick out and grabs the audience's attention, essentially camouflaging the scar. Stockings also give a pleasant, light support that can help make your abs, hips, back, and shoulder muscles/joints more comfortable.

I'm 61 and I don't perform. I dance in a kaftan and hip scarf.
I love these tips. It is amazing how much better one dances when they are not worrying about the way their body looks.
I love this. Great advice all around and approached with respect to all body types. ❤️
You're simply awesome and compassionate! You are a truly girl's girl. Hurray to sisterhood and empowerment!
