      El termino latino fue empezado por los británicos en su momento al igual que la leyenda negra para ensuciar toda la cultura hispana, lo usaban para despreciar el legado Español en las Américas para encubrir sus actos despreciables y por odio entre otras razones, no hay latinos en América, el termino correcto seria llamar latinos a Españoles, Italianos, Griegos... Media Europa por así decirlo, pues el lenguaje y cultura viene del LATIN. Hispanos es el termino correcto pues es cultura Hispana.

The fact that they are trying to add X’s now plus all the words that have been made up in English and I’m sure many have been made up in Spanish and many other languages just for this one group of people.
      They’re basically all trying to change the way everyone communicates to each other which is creating a language barrier which is the total opposite of peace and love. Trying to forcibly change the culture of others is not peaceful at all and never has been.

      I think the relatives of your fiancée underestimated how Latin Americans actually feel such about that ridiculous term . It’s not just about it being silly and unnecessary, but it’s about “superior people” telling us how to speak our own language . Such term is extremely rude and offensive towards Latin Americans. Are we also supposed to say “Argentinianx”? Or “ “Colombianx”? Such word sounds very english like since in Spanish we don’t end words with “x”. Now , I don’t even understand why in the English language they use or used the Spanish word “Latino”? They should say instead “Latin” or “Hispanic”.. That would solve their ridiculous misconception that “Latino” is a male chauvinist word . People who actually speak Spanish as a native language would never find the word “Latino” offensive .

    • @hooni7099
      @hooni7099 4 дня назад +2

      @tgoyer Between all the romance languages, the one Spanish shares more vocabulary with is Portuguese and vice-verse (let's exclude Galician because it's not very known). That said, there's something called "asymmetric intelligibility", where it's easier for a Portuguese speaker to understand what a Spanish speaker is saying than the contrary. That's caused by the longer list of phonemes Portuguese has in comparison to Spanish.
      As a Brazilian, I can understand basically any text in Spanish as long as they don't use too many slangs in it. For the conversations, as long as they talk a little slow it's also easy to understand them.
      And for the shared culture and conexion with the rest of LatAm, Brazil is indeed quite isolated, but I believe the interaction is bigger in the regions that have frontiers with other countries (South and North of Brazil) and smaller in those near the coast (Northeast and Southeast).

    • @Internautalegal0
      @Internautalegal0 4 дня назад +2

      There are many differences, they are different languages after all.
      Portuguese has more phonemes (Portuguese has 9-12 vowels depending on the accent while Spanish has 5 per example), grammatical differences, vocabulary (false friends, semantic change, word usage, words from different origins etc), suffered different influences and orthography...
      Portuguese speakers can understand more Spanish speakers than the contrary. We can understand each other, but the more specific the topic is, smaller is the mutual intelligibility.@@tgoyer

    It is very condescending to choose a name that cannot be pronounced in Spanish. It is as if we named Americans with a word with a strong R on purpose knowing they cannot pronounce it. I’d rather use latinequisos and latinequisas

    One, why is her opinion, as a white person, less important then others?
    Two, SHE prefers to use it until told otherwise, so..., it's about her preference?

    • @juanjoseleonvarea2495

      One: Because she is not Latina, she thinks that her opinion on how other people should speak in their own language matters less than those who do speak it.
      Two: There are enough cases in which the majority of Latinos have made it very clear that they consider that word to be insulting, her preferences can be whatever she wants, but then she should not complain if someone feels offended because she refers to them has Latinx, instead of Latino or Latina.

    I don’t have a problem with the lgbt+ community using it to identify themselves. But don’t just assume Latinos want to be called that. I think that in the same way the lgbt+ community doesn’t want assumptions made about them when others refer to them, we also don’t want to be labeled “Latinx” by default. But I’ll call you Latinx if you want me to 😌

      @@GawLTheInsane Yeah, creo que iberoamericanos se refiere a descendientes de españoles, ya que ellos son los hispanoibéricos... por la península ibérica.
      Hispanos sí nos referimos a todos los que somos de paises que fueron colonia de España o adquirieron el español por este pais. Si no me equivoco los filipinos también entran dentro del término hispanos.
      Yeah, I think iberoamerican refers to descendents from Spaniards, since they are Iberohispanics... you know, because Iberic Peninsula. Hispanics refers to all the people that comes from countries that were Spain colony or acquired the language because of Spain. If I'm not mistaken, Philipines are also Hispanic.

Or "mans evolution" that why Woman has the word MAN at the end of woMAN. BTW I as a Latino will NOT ever use Latinx as it sounds derogatory as if Latinos are mutants (x Men) or some mystery like X files. We are not X of anything!!!!

Being woke is ALL about virtue signalling... not about changing one's OWN life to actually make a difference.... They want their comfort and convenience... and want everyone else to kowtow to their desires.
