    How about the pitot tube!? Also elevator linkages, tank vents, and it's a good idea to open the cowl and actually check the engine! It's pretty important, it's where most of the moving parts in the plane are. The fuel pumps and tubes, oil filter and tubes, brake fluid, fuel separator are pretty important. And just the bottom for general drips and leaks. You can also check the throttle, mixture and carb heat linkages if you can find them in the bottom on the back of the carb. I start my prefligh

    Great video. Just wanted to mention a few things you may have left out. First being checking the underside of the wing for any loose rivets as you did on the top. When checking fuel, you don't seem to make sure the fuel vents are clear of any obstructions that may interfere with proper proper fuel pressure if they were to be obstructed, creating a vacuum in the tank. Also, one very important point to inspect is the actual pushrods of both ailerons beneath the wing. They are the only point that

    Na, don't get someone to help you :-) Make it much more feeling like I am there with you as preflight happens.
    Tried to video response my preflight but doesn't come up with my video to attach the response.
    Sound on your camera is amazingly clear!

    @TheChrisMuncy haha yeah and no fancy horn that plays La Cucaracha or the Dukes of Hazard Dixie sound. Thanks for checking it out

    @bradc314 The flight school TransPac which is next to Cutter where this is tied down has probably 50 of these. This may be a little newer than some but the PA28-181 Cherokee is a typical trainer if you don't want to learn in a Cessna. I am lucky though to be in a more modern plane with newer avionics.
    Thanks for checking it out. I post a video for about every training flight I have been on.

    @92NZPilot Yeah all of my training was in the PA28-181 Archer III. I have some stick time in a Cessna 140 also

    @LIPOPILOT thanks man. I really need to redo this at some point and have someone hold the camera I think

    @cholubaz ohhk, for all of our checks (normal and emergency procedures), we are trained by remembering them all off by heart. With the fuel, once out of the tank, it's classed as contaminant and should never be place back in the tank. I should make a vid of New Zealand style of per-flighting haha

    - if you don't see it, but especially from the engine drain, I really wouldn't put it back in the tanks. That thing is designed specifically to remove water from the fuel going into the engine! So you don't wanna be putting that back in the tanks.

    I didn't see you check the most important item of all - the pitot tube. Blocked pitot tubes have led to some spectacular accidents.

    Thanks. I would like to fly a DA40. I haven't flow anything with a stick yet. Yeah you dont want to skimp on the preflight only to find out you missed something after your in the air thats for sure.

    @92NZPilot I know the outside walk around by heart but I have to use the checklist for the inside. As far and pouring the fuel I drain back in the tanks. That's the way I was shown by my CFI

  • @92NZPilot
    @92NZPilot 12 лет назад

    1. Do you need to use your checklist or do you know it all off by heart?? 2. Are you sure your meant to be putting drain fuel back into the tanks?? CAANZ would go crazy if they ever saw us doing that, I quote "If the check is negative from each drain point, empty the container into the receptacle provided. DO NOT TIP THE CONTENTS BACK INTO THE AIRCRAFT TANKS." Just wondering ae

    Thanks for watching and for the comment. The last thing you mentioned about the aileron push rods I do do that. Not sure if I missed it in the video but that is a normal thing for me.

    Bro, It's not my plane, I don't control where they have it tied down at and on top of that this is very common here in AZ at least. I have taken this airplane to dozens of airports all over the state and have only came across one that had ropes.

    Why didn't you check the circuit breakers, pitot heat and carb heat?

    • @cholubaz
      @cholubaz  10 лет назад

      Dude I only did the exterior of the plane in that video. Once in the plane there is a whole checklist of things to go through of course. By the way Pitot heat is not on any check list. Carb heat yes but thats done during a run up.

    • @airborne3200
      @airborne3200 10 лет назад

      I acknowledge that I don't know as much as you do. I have 13 hours of flight time. Sorry if I offended you. I saw you turn on the master switch before you inspected the stall alarm and the external lights. My POH says check the circuit breakers BEFORE and AFTER you turn on the master switch, and you have to turn on the master switch BEFORE you check the stall warning horn. and you checked the stall alarm.... Did I get that wrong?

    • @cholubaz
      @cholubaz  10 лет назад

      Joseph Jones Nope you didnt offend me but I just thought based on what I was showing it only had to do with the exterior. I havent flown the Archer in about a year but I dont remember my check list showing to check the breakers except once before I started the engine. Next time I take it out I will look again. For the last year or so I have been flying a 172 because it was much cheaper. Hope you training goes well. :-)
