here in Canada, the Governor General gives royal assent to bills representing the Queen. in 2017, our current GG, while in no official way, more or less delayed royal assent on a marijuana legalization bill.

Great video, my only question is why do we still have prerogative powers especially now as we have parliamentary sovereignty and statutes?

So that the prime minister and cabinet can bypass parliament with certain decisions.
