    The key point here is that if you apply any wax and then don’t follow up with a good, regular wash routine then the protection from that initial application will be severely compromised. Claims from manufacturers of wax products would be more accurate if they said ‘up to x months protection - as part of a maintenance program’. Great video as usual.

      It was a little harsh as most people I guess after washing a car may well apply either a drying aid or some form of detail spray. I didn't want to do that as I wanted the wax to stand on its own as so many people shout about how good it is, I wonder how many of them add a product after washing??? I know I always apply some form of product as my sacrificial layer after every wash giving the wax or sealant added protection. Stay safe & have a happy & healthy new year

    Great video. I'm not a serious detailer, not even a weekend warrior as I don't wash my cars very often. DSW is my only paste wax. I first applied it on freshly polished bodywork after panel wipe, and the nice beading and slick surface feel lasted for about 3 months in the summer. During this 3 month period I just snowfoamed and jetwashed the car, roughly about once every month. After 3 months I started hand washing and topping it up with Sonax BSD but still just monthly and it still is okay. To me it's excellent value, thinking that I'll apply it approximately twice a year, a single tin will last for ages.

    I've used other BH products and was pleased with them but not tried this wax..However, I only use a wax for that initial glow and water repellentcy, not longevity. Regular and repeated applications of a wax are part of the pleasure of cleaning my cars. I don't have the time lately to spare for that so I've moved on to ceramics but I do miss the wax theapy. Great honest review.

      Hi Adrian, just saying it as I see it. I agree, I also enjoy waxing if you have the time. I have no doubt this would last longer if a QD was used after washing but then you get into the debate on, is it the wax or the QD that is giving you the protection?. Like you I tend to use sealants for longer lasting protection. Thanks for supporting👍

Cheers

      Hi John, Im Martin. To be honest I don't think that made any difference. You can see the difference between the rinse and after a wash. The protection certainly showed up more after the wash. I agree, a lot more easier forms of protection available. I think this would have provided better protection if it had seen regular washes and the use of a detail spray. Interesting though👍

    Warning! Very long comment🤣
    Great real world test of this product. I've got 3 and a half months out of it but I noticed after that the car was still incredibly glossy and slick yet there was zero water behaviour. I also noticed it didn't exactly 'protect' the car the back of the car is already covered in iron deposits and a small bit of tar. No tree sap but don't ever park near trees. I think alot of people get caught up on the initial water behaviour a week after its installed. I've got to admit. It's incredible but doesn't take long to wear off. Now the question I've got is. How would soft99 fusso compare to this? I don't want to jump on the 'band wagon' but it seems very highly rated. Although I paid £11.24 for the double speed wax so can't really complain and got a applicator and a microfiber cloth. *Car is a 5 cylinder diesel estate so probably picks up more contamination on the rear than anything else. And didn't use any topper after each wash. Which was weekly with autofoam 200ml to 1L and AF lather. No APCs used either. I recently got turtle Wax dry and shine for a fiver so might try that every 3 or 4 washes to see if it makes a difference. The annoying part about the contamination is that I couldn't just wax the car again I had to do a mini decon on it without using a clay bar obviously. Which was annoying considering it was like 5°C. Wax was applied and car sat stationery for 2 days without getting wet in 25°C heat so the wax would've been 'baked' in fairly well aswell👍

    • @ObsessiveCarDetailer
      @ObsessiveCarDetailer  3 года назад

      Like BH double speed wax, I have heard great things about soft99 fusso but in most cases the people tell me that its a great wax and used with some form of QD on top. So my question is "how do you know it's the wax & not the QD". My suggestion is that with todays driving conditions, the miles we do and contamination picked up, Im not convinced that any wax can last more than 4 to 6 months without some form of sacrificial layer on top like a drying aid or QD. Certainly not with the gloss and water behaviour seen on application. Then look at some of the sealants like the GT products I have on my Wife's Audi & dirt really finds it hard to stick. Finally thank you for taking the time to add a real life comment. I have learnt so much from some of the comments from my subscribers👍

    • @ak26photography
      @ak26photography 3 года назад

      @@ObsessiveCarDetailer yep that's exactly it. I think ceramic coating is the way forward for daily driving but then how much contamination will it reduce as I can't see iron deposits not sticking to it. But yes I find that rather annoying about the sacrificial layer thing with the QD ontop of the wax because when that QD layer fades away does it effect the 'beading' of the wax so it's then flat? Tbh I've never been a fan of putting something ontop of my wax I've always just waxed and rewaxed when necessary but I've recently bought turtle Wax dry and shine and I have to say it's very very impressive bought it for £4.95 on carparts4less but not sure if it'll effect the wax below it. Just did a test spot to see how it effects the wax so can't wait to wash the car next to see.

I’ve had it on my car for 3 months now and it’s still definitely there but the intense beading is not quite there and it’s a bit slower to sheet. Still good enough to make the car easier to wash and dry though. I never know how long products last as I can never leave a product for months and not top with something! This application to be fair wasn’t particularly well maintained as most would wash regularly with a decent shampoo and probably use some sort of drying aid or the like. Hosing the paintwork down won’t remove all the contaminants which could degrade the protection and may explain the poor results, but what do I know!

    If that's Autoglym Bodywork Shampoo and Conditioner then it produces some beading on it's own. You really needed to use a pure shampoo with no gloss enhancers or waxes in it. @ObsessiveCarDetailer  3 года назад

      Hi John, yep you are correct, didn't realise at the time that the autoglym had a form of mild protection built in. This video sort of makes my point that often when people are saying how long a wax or sealant lasts the chances are they have used a QD as their LSP or drying aid and its that that is giving the water behaviour. so in this video it was just the wax standing on its own & although people have said the van was not properly prepared, I have a previous video that shows the application and I would argue that my preparation is at least as good as anyone who washes and cares for their vehicle. Can i apply this after a compound and clay bar and how long will it preserve the compound?

    • @ObsessiveCarDetailer
      @ObsessiveCarDetailer  3 года назад

      If you are going to clay bar your car I suggest you then use either a machine polish or hand polish any marks out. After then cleaning the panels with a panel wipe (I often use Carpro Eraser) you can then apply any protection of your choice. If you intend to use this wax then after my experience in its longevity I suggest you apply some form of detail spray after every wash. Hope that is of some help

    Good review, I'm getting longer than 2 months so far ,I used bh cleanser polish then dsw. I found the wax a bit hard to buff off but I think I put to much on. I found infinity turbo 6 really easy to use how long does that last martin?

    • @ObsessiveCarDetailer
      @ObsessiveCarDetailer  3 года назад

      Hi thanks for taking the time to comment. This review was a little harsh in as much as no drying aid or QD was used in the 2 month period and most people will probably use some form of protection after washing their car but I just wanted to see how it stood on its own so if you use either a QD or drying aid I would expect it to improve the time. However you need to ask, is the protection Im seeing, the wax or what I apply after a wash? I would appreciate you view. As for Turbo 6, I really like it but it does seem a little unstable on the shelf?. I think Infinity wax suggest a 6 month protection period but that would be on a well prepared surface. Have you experience using it?

    • @ObsessiveCarDetailer
      @ObsessiveCarDetailer  3 года назад +1

      If you are looking for longevity and don't want to go as far as a ceramic coating then I would use a sealant. The one that impressed me is Garage Therapy 3cs. But what ever you use I would use either a qd drying aid after every wash or use either Bouncer's DDSi or Garage Therapy Sigma after every third wash. Let me know what you do and how it works out. But most waxes standing alone without any form of sacrificial layers of protection are limited in their longevity

    • @ObsessiveCarDetailer
      @ObsessiveCarDetailer  3 года назад

      Hi if you are looking for a wax at a reasonable price then you could try the soft99 the kiwami wax that I featured a couple of weeks ago or if you are looking for a sealant then give Garage Therapy 3 CS a try. If you want to add quick protection then either Garage Therapy Sigma or Bouncers Done & Dusted Si Edition. Both are really good detailing sprays that will give you between 4 & 6 weeks protection. It all depends really on if you want to do a full decon and apply a base protection or if you just want to wash the car and top up on every wash. Failing that there are a number or spray on rinse off sealants that are quick and easy to apply. Let me know the type of detail you want to do on the car and if you prefer wax or sealant

      @@foxsake_ In that case as a suggestion, why not use the Kiwami as your base layer of protection, I have only used it once but check out my video where I give a six week review of the wax. I would then follow up with Garage Therapy Sigma on every 3rd wash & use Garage Therapy 2 Quick detailer as a drying aid at every wash. The alternative to that would be Reflect ceramic wax as your base layer followed with Reflect Si02 Quick detail spray at every wash. I have the GT products on my Wife's Audi & the Reflect on my X3. I am really pleased with both. For more info on all the products check out my videos where I apply and report back on performance of them both. I personally have found double speed wax a great product.Yes it’s laborious to apply,but if you start with freshly decontaminated paintwork then apply a layer of polish and finally the wax, the results for me were very impressive,but maintaining the wax using a quality quick detailer is important.
    The only thing is now I use Garage Therapy products,the results are in my opinion better and are achieved with less effort,so unfortunately paste waxes have been relegated to my ever increasing “not go to products” box.

    • @ObsessiveCarDetailer

      As always Mr G I wait your wise words & how can you argue against them. As I replied to Patrick above. When people say a wax lasted x number of months, is it the wax or the topper they have applied on top. Thats why I wanted to do this review. It was just wax with nothing on top. Was I a little harsh 🤷🏻‍♂️.

    • @mrgoodkat3722
      @mrgoodkat3722 3 года назад

      Obsessive Car Detailer I don’t think you was harsh at all,but a wax alone with no maintenance has no chance of longevity.I have always understood that polish cleans the paintwork and wax protects it,but like all products they have a limited life against the elements.So the protection that a wax will give to paintwork depends on so many factors and no similar tests will give the same results.
      Ceramic coatings have limited protective life,it’s all about maintenance.In an ideal world there would be a product that coats the car and never diminishes,but that would put a lot of companies out of business,just like a cure for the common cold!.
