It’s why we took him in, he deserved to be a champion, Chicago couldn’t do it buffalo couldn’t do it he deserved to be on a winning team and that’s why we took him in Thank you
Hasek was such a dominant athlete he became the center of attention on the ice frustrating the other team time and time again . You rarely see that anymore from a goaltender... had so much confidence watching him in net.
The first 3 minutes of this highlight reel is literally a history lesson on the greatness of Dominik Hasek, and the embarrassing team Defense the late 90's/00's Sabres played without Peca on the ice.. The fact that this team was a perennial Cup contender is solely due to Hasek.
Howey JR Supposedly the Sabres had a winning record against the Devils in the regular season that year, but since Pittsburgh only won one game in their series with New Jersey it’s a tough call.
Commentator: Look at Curtis Joseph. He doesn't care about this, he's already stopped four penalty shots this season! This doesn't bother him! Bates: And I took that personally
Tytyty for the 1st 3 clips! I feel bad for the younger Sabre fans who never got to see a hasek led Sabre team that was such a pleasure to watch! I suppose it doesn't hurt that I was a goaltender who had over 50, 6 hour VHS recordings of Sabre games to study the dominator! +1 to anyone who even knows what a "vhs" is!😉
The Girardi hit on Malkin shouldn't be a penalty shot. I know according to the rules, anything from behind is illegal. But it's not like he's using a stick or anything. If it's legal to push someone not on a breakaway, it should be legal to push on a breakaway. Tripping, hooking, etc. is illegal both off and on the breakaway.
Even as a huge Pens fan, I couldn’t agree with you more. That’s a stupid rule, especially given Girardi had broken his stick. You expect him to just stand there and watch Malkin have the breakaway? There’s not much else he’s able to do in that situation.
@@JacobEHunziker Yeah, it's one of those rules that doesn't get seen a lot, but it definitely needs to be tweaked a little bit. Maybe it's for safety? Like any hit from behind, even if it's in open ice, is a safety concern? I don't know man.
Listen to the crowd. That’s playoff hockey. This year is going to be so weird. Hope it dosent take away from the greatness of the most beautiful game on earth
The Bertuzzi attempt isn't even half bad. I think his biggest mistake was coming down the middle of the ice instead of skating down the right hashmark and holding the puck in the middle. He skates with the puck towards the left so Hasek fully closes off that side of the net to begin with, leaving Bertuzzi to either shoot across his body or deke towards his backhand, which maybe Hasek was trying to goad him to do and would have sealed the ice if he got too close by then preventing a shot trying to go upstairs only to hit a pad before it got up. Going five hole was a bit of a wild card, but perhaps it was the least expected shot he could have made. Obviously it wasn't a perfect snipe and Hasek was able to close up the hole.
Ill give you the 3rd one. Straka def fanned the shot he wanted. What you're not thinking of is that AT THE TIME, no one had approached the position the way he did. Shooters didn't know what he was gonna do and not only did hasek have a formula for all his moves, that won the psychological battle for him. One can watch today, and shooters today could pick him apart...but ONLY because we have had 30 years to analize what/how he did what he did.
Hasek showing his dominance.
GOAT

what a king. too bad they figured out how to get the puck up now he might look dumb nowadays

When your team isn’t worried whenever there’s a 2 on 1 you’ve got a damn good goalie.
The first 3 minutes of this highlight reel is literally a history lesson on the greatness of Dominik Hasek, and the embarrassing team Defense the late 90's/00's Sabres played without Peca on the ice.. The fact that this team was a perennial Cup contender is solely due to Hasek.
that '01 team should have beaten the Pens
@@Diljabar you think we would have beaten NJ?
Howey JR Supposedly the Sabres had a winning record against the Devils in the regular season that year, but since Pittsburgh only won one game in their series with New Jersey it’s a tough call.
The Sabres also had a good trap Dead Puck Era style team. You don’t get to game 6 3rd OT of the finals without it back then
The guy literally dragged an average team to the finals and nearly won it for them. GOAT.
It’s very weird seeing Jack Edwards commentating non-Bruins games.
As a Bruins fan, it is REALLY weird.
Lots of people don't remember or realize jack worked for ESPN during the 90s and early 00s
I've never seen clips from the 05-06 season so high quality. Usually clips from 5 years later don't even look that good
I've never seen any clips from the 04-05 season, what happened?
The sound of Sakic's shot hitting the post before going in makes it a perfect goal
"I will be skating in close. I will not be making any moves. I will be shooting faster than you can react. I will score here." - Joe Sakic
Nobody had a better wrister. Ever.
Commentator: Look at Curtis Joseph. He doesn't care about this, he's already stopped four penalty shots this season! This doesn't bother him!
Bates: And I took that personally
Alternative title: Playoff Penalty Shots on (mainly) Czech goaltenders
Sabres: take penalties to give the other team a penalty shot
Hasek: *dont worry guys i got this*
Lidstrom felt comfortable enough to do it as well
8:13 great penalty call and an even better mustache
Hasek best goalie of all time
Misspelled Brodeur
BATES SHOOTS HE SCOOOOOOOORES
5:21
Hasek upset Canada in the 1998 Olympics in a shootout and showed off his skills at the start of this vid
Jack Edwards throwback
i just knew there would be some great hasek saves, some angry roy, and some beautiful moments.
Jeeeez, look at the curve on Turek's blade!!
8:12 Ref with the most intense point ever
2:06 - Straka, Smehlik, Hasek :D all gold medals from Nagano (czech hockey greatest success)
The 2000s Sabres seemed a little undisciplined
I love penalty shots especially the 2000s
Damn the flyers give up a lot of playoff penalty shots
Man I miss hockey so much. Miss watching the crowd going crazy after a goal 🥺
This video is just Hasek highlights

Hasek beast
“This doesn’t bother Curtis Joseph!”
Scores
ill never forget when hasek came to detroit
Hasek also faced a penalty shot in the playoffs in 1999. 4 consecutive playoffs he faced a penalty shot.
Biron's pads were absolute beauts
That Shawn Bates goal and constant woos after still haunt me today as a Leafs fan. Then again, Tucker and Roberts still haunt Islander fans
Gary Thorne is the best hockey play caller ever.
Change My Mind
Rick Jenerette may day call, take a listen

Richards’ goal was filthy
I don't get why the last clip of Malkin vs. Lundqvist is a penalty shot. You can't push a guy from behind in open ice who has the puck? Wtf
Man, Sakic was a sniper's sniper
As a flyers fan, damn you dominator
Hasek is my fav
Sakic had so much net to shoot at on the right side! Was Turek that bad at covering angles or is the camera angle playing tricks on me?
Me at clip No 4 - Wait! This is not best of Dominátor against penalty shots in play off? 😀
Miss Gary Thorne calling hockey...
Listen to the crowd. That’s playoff hockey. This year is going to be so weird. Hope it dosent take away from the greatness of the most beautiful game on earth
Why does it always have to be on Hasek
Lol, In the first vid Lindy Ruff doesn´t look too concerned after the penalty shot is called against Hasek.
5:23 legendary Islanders moment. BATESSSSSSS
I could have used a few more commercials.
If Hasek is the goalie, go ahead hook the guy. He ain't scoring on the penalty shot
How is that Malkin one a penalty shot? That’s ridiculous
Still remeber when the hawks had hasek 😥
This was uploaded five hours ago by the official NHL how does this only have 315 likes and 65 comments?

What exactly is the penalty for at 3:18? They said a hand pass in the crease?
the fix i need
Frolik PS vs Detroit game 6 2013
Hasek had to stop so many of those
Listen to how many Rangers fans cheer after the save at 18:40
That’s why we call the Prudential Center MSG West 😉
Someone explain to me the reason of Sakics penalty shot against Turek
I think because Turek threw his stick?
I am starting to notice something
Who did play by play on the Bates shot
Can someone explain the Blues vs. Avalanche one and why a PS was awarded?
MarpatCamo Turek threw his stick at the puck. The goalie can poke check, but the stick can’t leave his grasp.
Lol at 15:18, what are you doing?? Just crushing the refs ankle trying to slap the puck away haha
Girardi nearly gets his face filleted @18:29
Tbh I’d rather have the powerplay. More opportunities to score
well, there's enough comments about how great hasek was but how bad were those espn announcers?
We need Mario!
bates. classic.
hasek > roy
Luv u
Pojdme Hasek 🇸🇰🇸🇰🇸🇰🇸🇰🇸🇰🇸🇰
back when espn had hockey...
kind of glad they dont now though lol
Possibility they might pick it back up after the 2020-21 season when the current NBC contract expires.
Justin Maybach please god no
Not having a Hockey on ESPN is one of the worst decisions the NHL could’ve made.
Dean Bryant I just don’t like espn because they politicize everything it seems like.
@@goata8 If not for the 2004-05 lockout ESPN might still be carrying hockey.
