I recommend learning some Estas Tonne stuff like The Song of the Golden dragon or Introspection and that'll get you the techniques and knowledge to do what you want!
tip: use open strings to your advantage, Your guitar is tuned EADGBE and the low E and GBE are all notes in an E chord and the A and high E are notes in an Am chord so using a chord progression with chords Em\Maj Am F C and so on is helpfull
